Chapter 21   the last!!!!

The following morning Leah had been questioned by the police as had Jeff. Matt and Molly had been back to the house and tidied it up after the police had been. They spent most of the night scrubbing blood out of the carpet and sofa.

Leah sat up in her bed with Jeff as they waited for Matt and Molly to return.

“Are you going to tell them?” Jeff asked curiously.

“I guess I have to. I think they have to know anyway.”

“Yeh they do.” Jeff moved from the chair onto the edge of the bed where he faced Leah. “Leah, you know how I feel about you. And I don’t want you to think I’m taking advantage or anything but I don’t know how much longer I can cope with out you.”

“Jeff…”

“Let me finish. I have to tell you this Leah…. I love you.”

Leah didn’t answer him, she took his hand and kissed it softly. “Jeff, I don’t know what to say.”

“You don’t have to say anything, I just needed to tell you that.”

“I’m glad you did.”

“Really?”

“Yes Jeff. Can you remember that deal we made about waiting?”

“Yes.”

“Good.” Leah said as she pulled Jeff’s hand making him mover closer to him. She sat up straighter and took his other hand with hers. “Because I think we’ve waited long enough.”

Jeff didn’t reply as Leah slowly leaned forward and brushed her lips over his. They both let their lips hover there for a few seconds before Leah let go of one of Jeff’s hands and wrapped it around Jeff’s neck pulling him into the kiss. Jeff soon moved his free hand into Leah slightly tangled hair; he massaged her scalp as a low moan escaped from deep in her throat. He smiled against her lips as she made a fist with her hand in his hair. The kiss grew deeper and more passionate as Jeff freed his and Leah’s other hand and he placed it around her neck and rubbed the top of her spine gently. Leah put her other hand on the back of Jeff’s shoulder. Leah reluctantly pulled away from him, she rested her head on his shoulder as she tried to regain control of her breathing. Jeff rubbed her left shoulder, careful not to touch the right, which was heavily strapped.

“Wow.” Was all Jeff managed as Leah lifted her head. Her eye glicining in happiness her had never seen in them before.

“Yeh.” She replied as she looked back at him.

Jeff kicked his boots of and lay beside Leah on the bed. He had one arm behind her and the other holding her hand as she leant back against him.

They both jumped slightly as the door open and in stepped Matt and Molly. They both looked over at the couple on the bed.

“What?” Jeff exclaimed as he grinned at them.

“Did we interrupt something?” Matt teased as he and Molly pulled two chairs up to the bedside.

“No.” smirked back at his brother.

“Guys. I need to explain this whole thing to you and I don’t want you to interrupt, I just want to say it all in one go. Ok?”

The two in the chairs nodded as she looked at Jeff who just squeezed her hand.

“Well, it all started the day my parents were killed….” She began.

Matt and Molly sat and listened the whole time as did Jeff even though he knew it all apart form the fact that Billy had beaten her, he didn’t under stand why she hadn’t told him, but he was willing to over look it. She probably had her reasons and he was willing to listen to them later but now, he just wanted to listen telling the painful story over again to Matt and Molly.

“And so when you, Matt and Jeff came to up her the first time, when me and Jeff didn’t get on, I got a letter. It was one like I had had so many times before, so many years before. I just laughed it of and threw it away but Jeff though it was more serious and I guess he was right. I didn’t think anymore of it until I got another letter at the hotel the first night I was on the road with you guys. I was scared then I knew who had put it under my door and I knew he was in that hotel. I ran to Jeff’s room. I didn’t know what else to do. I stayed there with him and I told him everything I just told you except for him beating me. I’m sorry Jeff, I couldn’t tell you that, I should have but I couldn’t face telling anymore than I had to.” Jeff just squeezed her hand to reassure her that it was ok. Matt and Molly both noticed but said nothing as Leah continued. “After that night when we woke up we went into the room and there was a pool of red food colouring on the floor and another note. That’s why I left. I didn’t answer the phone, I didn’t go out, I didn’t eat and I didn’t sleep because the letters and phone calls kept coming. That’s when Jeff showed up. I felt safer with him around and he stayed with me the whole time, he never left me alone, if we needed groceries he would get them delivered and we spent the next four weeks locked away in the house. We just kept prating you didn’t come home here to find Jeff here instead of Cameron. The yesterday happened. I think me and Jeff both knew it was coming but neither of us where ready for it….” Leah continued and ended the story.

Matt and Molly both had tears in their eyes and Leah would have apart from Jeff’s arm being around her and her hand in his.

“Leah, you should have told me.” Molly said from her chair.

“No I couldn’t. You had your carrier and I knew what you would be like and the less people that knew the better. I’m sorry. You’re my best friend and it tore me apart not being able to tell you but I couldn’t. I just couldn’t.”

“Babe. It’s ok.” Molly said as she got up and gently hugged her friend. She sat back down as Matt looked at Jeff.

“So you haven’t had an injury this whole time?”

“No. I just couldn’t think of another way to get the time of so I could be with Leah. I’m sorry Matt.”

“But I phoned dad loads of times and he said that you were always at the physio’s or the gym or something.”

“Yeh I know he did. The thing is I got Leah to let me tell dad the situation and he agreed to keep quiet.”

“Well, I guess that doesn’t matter. All that does is that both of you are ok. I can’t believe Billy. I used to kick his ass when we were younger in rival federations but now I really wanna beat him to a pulp.”

“Matt. He’s gunna be in jail for a very long time to come. The police told me this morning.”

“Good. He deserves it!” Molly snapped as she looked at Leah and Jeff and how they were sitting. “I’m surprised you two didn’t tear each other apart.”

“I thought we would to start with.” Jeff said as he looked down at Leah. “But then I realised that she had barriers…barriers that I needed to brake down before she could trust me and let me help her. She did eventually, I think when she realised that she needed help, that she couldn’t do it on her own no matter how strong she thought she was.”

As Jeff finished Leah looked up at him. “Thank you Jeff. Thank you for everything.” As she spoke she freed her hand and pulled Jeff’s lips down to hers and kissed him gently.

“Awwwwwww.” Matt and Molly said in unison, as Leah and Jeff broke apart.

“Oh yeh, and we also didn’t tell you that we’re…” Leah began.

“We’re in love.” Jeff finished as he looked down at Leah who nodded at him.

“Yeh we are.” She said smiling at him, eternal happiness shining in her eyes.
