chapter 19

After Leah removed herself from the bath she went back into the bedroom and went to her suitcase Jeff had placed on the bed for her. She looked around the room to see Jeff sitting in a small chair in the corner. He had his knees dawn up to his chest and his head pressed against his knees. Leah looked at him for a second before she went over to him and placed a light hand on his shoulder. He looked up at Leah, his teary eyes looking at her and then diverting to the floor. Leah crouched down and placed her hands on his thighs, slowly pulling his knees down to the floor. Jeff’s eyes remained looking at the floor. Once his feet where on the floor, Leah rested her arms on his legs and took his hands in hers. She ran her lips lightly over his fingertips and he looked up from the floor and locked his eyes with hers. She knelt up from the floor and removed her hands from his and placed her arms around him.

Jeff let himself cry into her shoulder as he held onto her as if his life depended on it. Leah closed her eyes and massaged Jeff’s scalp as he continued to cry.

Finally Jeff calmed down and tried to regain his composure. He lifted his head and looked down at Leah, who just knelt there looking over him with loving, caring eyes.

“Jeff.” She spoke softly. “What’s wrong?” she asked as she lifted a hand and wiped away the last few tears a tucking a few strands of hair behind his ear.

“I just had these…these flashbacks of when I was in the WWF and he was there and he was hurting me over and over.” Jeff said as he lifted his hands and wiped his eyes.

“Baby, he’s not going to hurt you any more. I known you can’t forget those things but we both are going to have to try very hard. I can’t forget the things that happened to me and I know you won’t forget what happened to you. But together Jeff, we will do it. I know we can.”

“How can you be so sure?”

“Because of you Jeff. You made me believe things I never thought were possible. And I want you to believe them too.”

“I want to believe them Leah, I do, I really do but I don’t know if I can.”

“You can Jeff. No matter how long it takes. And you know that I’m not going any where, not now.”

“I don’t’ want you ever to leave Leah.”

“I can’t make any promises Jeff. But right now there is no other place I want to be. And in the near future, I can only think of one place I want to be and that’s here with you.”

Jeff stood up from the chair and helped Leah from the floor. Jeff pulled Leah against him, the wetness of her skin from the bath soaking his shirt, he held her close but softly as not to hurt her.

“Thank you baby.” He said as he kissed her wet hair.

“No problem. Its all part of the Hammond service.” She said with a grin as she pulled away from him.

“Do you still want to go shopping?” he asked, as he looked over at the clock. 9:15.

“Yeh I do.” She said as she again hugged him. “I gotta get you a present.”

“You have already given me the only present I want.”

“What’s that?” Leah questioned him.

“You.”
