Chapter 22

One month later.

Kendall pulled up to her parents house for yet another
business party. Granddaddy had been back and forth the
whole month to check on her and Jeff.

She heard Bobbys' laugh as soon as she opened the
door. He had tried a few times to split them up but
once Gramps got a hold of him, she hadn't heard from
him again. There was still tension between her and her
father over her relationship with Jeff although her
fathers' attempts had ceased much to the relief of
Jeff.

Riley approached Kendall, "Well, well, well we meet
again."

"Third time this week. I'm not staying though. I have
to speak to my dad and then I'm leaving. How are you?"
she draped her arm through Rileys'.

"I'm great. Same old, same old. How are you and Jeff
doing?"

"Fine. Dealing with the road and all it has to offer
but we're fine."

"Are you having sex yet?" Riley asked nonchalantly as
she sipped her soda.

"That didn't take long. Why do you always feel the
need to ask me that?" she smiled.

"Because I believe this is the longest you've ever
gone without it my dear friend."

"I'm fine. I'm actually glad that we're waiting. We're
really getting to know each other and it proves that
our relationship means more to him."

"You bitch. You're having a ton of oral sex. I hate
you."

Kendall burst out laughing, "Subtle Ri, very subtle."

Riley groaned, "I can't get oral sex."

"What about Johnny? Aren't you getting it from him?
Why am I talking about this?"

"Hmph yeah once a week if I'm lucky."

Kendall laughed, "Poor baby."

"Well there's the greatest ass in all of Cameron."
Bobby stood behind Kendall; eyes focused on her ass.

"Go to hell asshole." Riley shot out at him.

"Don't even acknowledge him. I have to find my dad.
Hey Ri." She leaned into her ear, "I bet Bobby likes
oral sex."

Riley scowled, "Please I'm not that desperate for it.
Call me later."

"Sure." She made her way through the people, locating
her dad in the corner, "Hi Mr. McAllister, Mr.
Andrews. Hi daddy."

"Sweetie I'm glad you're here." Michael hugged his
daughter tightly.

"Actually I was wondering if I may steal you for a
moment or two in private." She saw a hint of
excitement in his eyes. She rarely ever came just to
see him anymore.

"Gentlemen, if you'll excuse me my baby girl needs
me." He wrapped his arm around her leading her to the
den.

Jeff waited in his car for her to leave before letting
himself into her place. He set the plastic bags down
on the counter. He knew she'd be at her parents' house
for a few hours so he had to act fast.

"Ok baby, tonight is your night. Now where are your
pots and pans?"

Michael slid the doors closed as Kendall took a seat
on the couch, "What's wrong tinkerbell?"

"Sit down. We need to have a heart to heart. I have
some things to talk to you about. First, I want to
tell you that I'm proud of you." She gripped his hand
tightly.

"Proud of me?"

"I know how opposed you are of my love life and yet
you're still staying out of it. Thank you for
respecting my decision and me. It means a lot. Next, I
know you're grooming me to take over the family
business someday but I'm not ready. With school and my
new job not to mention I'm really concentrating on
Jeff and our relationship, it's quite a bit for me.
I'm not like you, I can't handle fifty million things
at once."

Michael sat there quietly, taking it all in.

"Dad are you listening to me?"

"Yes I am. You're right. You're not ready. I shouldn't
be forcing you to learn something that you have no
interest in. After college you decide. I've been
forcing you to do a lot concerning this company and
I'm done."

She was bewildered, "What have you done with my
father?"

He laughed at her, "I've had time to think. You moving
out really changed things for me. Now about this job,
what is it exactly?"

"It has to do with photography, which I'm getting
really good at. I'm going to be doing photos for the
Independent wrestling groups around North Carolina.
I've been doing test shots lately when I go with Jeff
and Gary really likes them so he gave me a job. They
wanna do more sophisticated promos and things."

"Very good. You sound extremely excited about it."

"I am. I honestly am. I hate to cut out on your party
but I must go."

He frowned, "Why so soon? I was enjoying our time
together."

She patted his cheek, "I am too but. Jeff is due home
tonight and I miss him. Four days apart this time and
it's hard. So I'm going to stop right there because I
know how you feel about."

"How is Jeff?" he asked, cutting off what he knew she
was going to say.

Her mouth dropped open slightly, "Did I hear you
right? Did you just ask how Jeff was?"

Michael sighed, "Yes I did. How is he?"

"He's fiiiiiiiiiiiiiine. A little tired from traveling
but he's adjusting. He gets homesick when we talk on
the phone a lot so we try not to, which makes it
harder for me. We can't win. Why are you asking?"

"He's a part of your life now, a permanent part. As
much as I don't like it, I'm gonna have to accept it
and get used to it."

The tears formed in her, "Yes you do. Thank you." She
leaned over giving him a hug; "I'll call you tomorrow.
I love you daddy."

"I love you too tinkerbell." He whispered into her
hair.
