Title: Standing at the Edge of the Earth
Author: Jami
Lynn
Chapter:
1, it's a song fic
Disclaimer: I
don't own any of the wrestlers used in this story, 'cause if I did, I'd be
busy with them right now *grin*. But I do own anyone else mentioned in
the story, for they are the voices in my head, crying to get out.
The song belongs to Blessed Union of Souls. And don't bother suing
me...all you'd get is a half eaten ham sandwich and a bag of chips from 2
years ago.
Distribution: Ask
me if you can use it, more than likely I will say yes.
Rating: So
far, it's a PG-13
Content: Nothing
bad as of yet, probably won't be anything to bad either....maybe some cussing.
Spoilers: Um...anything
can happen and I'm just writing as I go, so I don't know yet *L*.
Summary: When
someone you love goes away, you'll stand at the edge of the earth waiting for
them.
Feedback: I
need feedback like I need air! So give it to me, babee!
Trish slowly followed along behind a group of her family
members. They were all chattering with the person next to them, as they
walked along the airport hallway. Trish lagged behind them by only a
step or two. Everyone seemed so happy, she knew that most of it was
forced, but that didn't help her any. She couldn't force a smile on her
face.
She had taken extra special care with her appearance that
day. She didn't want anyone to recognize her as Trish Stratus, WWF Diva.
She had pulled her long, blonde hair up into a bucket hat. She hadn't
done her makeup, and had a dark pair of sunglasses covering her eyes.
Instead of the usual revealing clothes she wore, she was dressed in a pair of
loose fitting black jeans, and a black t-shirt. People might think she
resembled Trish Stratus, but not many would notice her.
Trish felt someone step up next to her, and their arm
wrapped around her shoulder. Trish looked up and saw Amy Dumas standing
next to her. Amy's hair was pulled up under a bucket hat to match
Trish's. She wore tight jeans that started near her navel, unlike her
usual low riders. She had on a plain, long sleeved, dark blue shirt.
She was alos makeup-less and had sunglasses covering her eyes.
"are you okay?" Amy asked.
Trish shook her head as her eyes caught sight of the man they had all come to
see leave. The man turned and his eyes caught Trish's. She knew
they were both feeling the same rush of emotions.
***
I knew that this moment would come in time
That I'd have to let go and watch you fly
I know you're coming back so why am I dying
inside.
Are you searching for words that you can't
find
Trying to hide your emotions but eyes don't
lie
Guess there's no easy way to say goodbye.
***
The man offered her smile, and then opened his arms
to her. Trish ran into his open arms, tears streaming down her face.
"Oh Travis, I'm going to miss you so much. I love you so much.
Don't go. Sneak into the trunk of my car and let's take off."
Trish cried into his shoulder.
Travis gently pushed her face back so he could look into
her tear filled eyes. "Trish...you know that I have to go. Part
of me wants to go. I'll be okay. I'll come back to you, you know
that right?" Travis todl her. Trish nodded, "I'll
be on the edge until you come back."
***
So I'll be standing on the edge of the earth
Hoping that someday you'll come back again
I'll be standing at the edge of the earth
hoping for someday

"Travis, I just need you to know that I'm
supporting you in this. This is what you want to do and what you feel
you must do. So, I'm going to stand by you. Remember that.
And remember that you have to come back...because I'm going to be waiting for
you. I'll stand on the edge of the earth, waiting for you." Trish
whispered as Travis hugged her.
"Trish, I'll be back for you. No one could
ever tease you to tears like I could. I'll always be here for you. I
promised you that a long time ago. I'll keep in contact with you as much
as possible. Plus, maybe on our breaks we could convince some WWF stars
to come 'lift our spirits.'. I'll see you again T-baby." Travis
told her, struggling not to cry.
"Travis, come on. You're needed on the
plane now." someone called. "I gotta go T-baby.
I love you and I'll miss you. Be safe." Travis told her,
hugging her tightly. "You be careful too." Trish
cried, kissing his cheek and hugging him back tightly.
***
Don't misunderstand what I'm trying to say
I don't want to let you leave this way
I want you to know that I'll stand right by
your side.
And I know this may be
The very last time that we see each other cry
But whatever happens know that I'll...

Trish watched him walk stiffly to the front of the room.
He stood among other young men dressed similiarly. A few of the young
men Trish recognized from growing up with them. More tears fell from her
eyes.
She watched as they left the building and entered the
large plane. Trish's heart caught in her throat as she caught one last
glimpse of Travis before he stepped inside the plane.
Trish's knees felt weak and she felt the room begin to
spin. She was grateful when she felt Amy's arms circle her and gently
bring her down so she was sitting on the floor.
***
I'll be standing at the edge of the earth
Hoping that one day you'll come back again
I'll be standing at the edge of the earth
hoping that someday
You'll come back to me
I'll be praying for whatever it's worth
Believing that one day you'll come back to me
I'll be standing at the edge of the earth
Hoping for someday.

"Trish, hun, are you going to be okay?"
Amy whispered. "No, no...I will not be okay until Travis
is back safe and sound." Trish told her. "He
will be. I have faith that he'll be back. This is Travis we are
talking about." Amy assured her.
"yes, it's Travis we are talking about. My
baby brother, Travy-baby. They are having him go out there, who knows
where, to fight a mans war! But he's just a boy! He's not a
man, he's my baby brother! He's only 19. He's a baby. Why
him? I'm the one who works with the violence...he worked on computers!
He's not violent! Why does he have to be the one to go?" Trish
asked, mostly to herself as she stood and pressed herself against the window
where the plane had left.
***
And I know this may be
The very last time that we see each other cry
But whatever happens know that I'll...
I'll be standing at the edge of the earth
Hoping that one day you'll come back again
I'll be standing at the edge of the earth
hoping that someday
You'll come back to me
I'll be praying for whatever it's worth
Believing that one day you'll come back to me
I'll be standing at the edge of the earth
Hoping for someday.

"Trish..." Amy started to pull her out
of her thoughts.
"Did you know that when we were younger, on
Christmas Eve, we'd all huddle in my room. Then we'd wake up at exactly
7:01 and sneak down the stairs. But we couldn't look at the presents
yet. We would all go to the bathroom and eat our breakfast. Then
we'd get to open our stockings. Finally at nine we'd get our parents up.
They'd eat, and then we'd open presents. There were many night when
Travis would knock on my door, and ask if he could sleep in my room.
Sometimes I'd let him. He was so scared of everything when he was
little. But other times, I'd force him out of the room. I regret
that now. I'd give anything to go with him now and let him share my
room...." Trish trailed off, her mind elsewhere.
"Come on Trish, he'll be back. The war
won't last forever. He'll be back." Amy told her,
fighting back tears of her own.
"Yeah, he'll be back. He has to come back.
But he'll never be my Travy-baby again." Trish walked down the
hall, slowly drying her tears.

Waiting for someday
Believing in someday
Praying for Someday
I'll be...
Longing for someday
Clinging to someday
Cherishing someday
I'll be...
Thinking of someday
Dreaming of someday
Wishing for someday
I'll be...
Living for someday
Counting on someday
Knowing that one day...
I will see you.
