Well it's a long way to Richmond
Rollin' north on 95
With a redhead ridin' shotgun
And a pistol by my side
Tearin' down that highway
Like a modern day Bonnie and Clyde

Matt drove like a bat out of hell on the highway towards Richmond. Out of the corner of his right eyes he looked over to see Valerie sleeping.

‘We’re like a modern day Bonnie and Clyde’ Matt said to himself as he hide the pistol by his left side.

We met at a truckstop

Johnson City, Tennessee

I was gassin' up my Firebird

When I heard her callin' me...mmm hmm

Said, 'Which way are you headed, boy

Do you need some company'

She had me stoppin' at a quick mart

Before we made it out of town

Matt’s mind went to when he first met Valerie at truck stop Johnson City, Tennessee when he was gassing his Firebird.

“MMM hmmm,” Matt heard a voice calling to him

Valerie was checking Matt and his firebird.

“Which way are you headed boy,” Valerie said to him “Do you need any company”

Matt only nodded his head for his mouth won’t work for him. He just paid for his gas and she hopped in his car. He drove out of the truck stop and headed for the open road.

“Can we stop at this quick mart before we head out of town,” Valerie asked him

“Sure why not,” Matt said to her never what she was planning in her head.

Next thing she was runnin' at me

Tellin' me to lay that hammer down

'Cause there's a man right behind me

Doin' his best to slow me down

Yeah and it's a long way to Richmond

“Drive,” Valerie said as got into the car

Matt just started up the car and peeled out of the mart parking. Matt saw a guy running out the store after Valerie. Matt knew what she had done and he smiled evilly as he drove on highway towards Richmond.

Woo...

Well we pulled up to a motel

In the middle of the night

We were countin' all the money

Smokin' stolen Marlboro lights

Matt pulled into a secluded motel and paid for a room for him and Valerie. Soon they were counting all the money and smoking the stolen Marlboro lights the never saw the cops pulling up and surrounding the motel.

Lord we never saw 'em comin'

'Til they read us both our rights

Yeah and it's a long way to Richmond

Rollin' north on 95

With a sheriff right beside me

Pistol pointed at my side

Oh, Lord...such a disappointing ending

For this modern day Bonnie and Clyde

Yeah...

Whoa

Well...

Woo...hoo

The door explored and Matt grabbed for his pistol at his side.

‘Oh lord such a disappointing ending’ Matt said himself as he sat in his jail cell waiting for the barlieff
