Chapter 7
When Colleen
finished chatting to a few friends on the net, she shut the computer down and
stood up and stretched. Suddenly she felt a pain shoot threw her body again
and again. Her legs buckled under her and she fell to the floor.
Matt walked slowly
up the steps to his and Colleen's flat. He reached the door and let himself
in. He looked around the room for her but she was no where. He walked across
the room tossing his jacket onto the back of a chair.
Matt noticed
Colleen's arm sticking out from behind the computer chair. "Hey, not
funny get up babe." he said as he walked over to her. A smile on his
lips. "Give the game up I need to talk to you." he knelt down beside
her and brushed a strand of hair from her face. She was pale. "Colleen.
come on babe get up!" he said as he rolled her over onto her back.
"Col!!!" he shouted, panic over coming his body. He clasped his
hands each side of her head and shook her. Her eyes never moved, neither did
her body. "SHIT!!!" he shouted as he hesitated before
he picked her limp body from the floor and carried her out the door. He
slammed it shut with his foot and quickly went down the steps and put her in
the back of the car as he got into the front and drove quickly to the
hospital.
"Is she going
to be ok?" an upset and distraught Matt asked the doctor.
"She will be
fine. She just needs some rest."
"What
happened?"
"I don't
know. All the test results were negative. It's a mystery."
"But
something had to of happened."
"I know that
but we can't find out what. Can I get you a cup of coffee because I need to
ask you a few questions."
"I
guess." Matt replied as he followed the doctor to the canteen. When they
sat down the doctor began to ask the questions.
"Is Colleen
pregnant?"
"No. Didn't
you check that?"
"Yes, but we
wanted to check with you. Does she take any medication?"
"No."
"Does she have a brother or sister?"
"Well, we're
not sure."
"What do you
mean?"
"Well she had
been talking to a girl called Leah over the internet and the grew up in the
same area and both lost their parents when they were the same age, they have a
birthmark in the same place."
"Do you think
the could be related?"
"Maybe. I
think she does."
"Can you get
hold of her?"
"I think
we've got the number. Why?"
"Have you
heard about when one twin is in pain, the other feels that pain?"
"Yes."
"Well, that
may explain what happened if they are twins."
"Oh. I'll go
see Colleen then go home and try and ring her."
"Thank-you.
Do let me know what happens."
"Thanks." Matt said as he went to see Colleen.
