Chapter 12
"I didn't
think that we would be leaving so soon." Leah said to Jeff as they
boarded British Airways flight BA329. They found their seats by the
window and sat down before Jeff replied.
"Well i want
us to get back to normal. They way we have been the past couple of weeks isn't
us Leah. We never used to argue and i know how much you were hurting and
staying at home wasn't going to help us. We need to be away from that. Away
from our lives, this is a fresh start for us Leah. We are moving to America.
Nobody there knows about us and about our past. Just you and me and the land
of the free Leah, we are going to make this no matter how rough times have
been for us. Soon you will be my wife and we can have a family and watch our
babies grow, help them, care for them, love them and love each other. "
Jeff said as he took Leah's hand in his. Leah had tears sparkling in his eyes
as she leaned over and kissed Jeff softly.
"I love you
Jeff." she said softly as she rested her head on his shoulder.
"I love you
too baby, more than you ever could know." he replied softly as he
placed an arm around her and softly rubbed her shoulder.
As the flight to
Miami neared it's end Leah stared out of the window. Her hand still in Jeff's
who was now sleeping in his seat. She looked at the wrist of her free hand.
The scare from that night. The scares she couldn't explain to anyone else but
Jeff.
As she watched the
blurry land of America pass under the plane she thought about what her life
had become. She was 20 years old, she had tried to kill herself because of a
guy and she had lost her job. She was supposed to be getting a transfer to a
US branch of the world wide company she worked for but instead the fired her.
So now she had no idea about where she was going, what she was going to do and
who she was going to meet.
Leah looked back
over at Jeff as she felt his hand tighten around hers.
"Hey."
she whispered.
"You ok
baby?"
"i'm fine.
just a bit tired."
"Why don't
you try sleeping?" he suggested but as Leah went to reply the pilot came
over the intercom and asked for all seats to be placed in the upright position
as they were approaching the airport. "Maybe not." he said with a
smile.
As they stepped of
the plane Leah told Jeff she needed the toilet so they went to find the
nearest ones before they went to baggage claim. When Leah went in Jeff grabbed
his mobile and called Matt.
"Matt, where
are you?"
"We are
waiting for you in baggage claim, where are you?"
"Leah's in
the toilet but we'll be there soon."
"I thought
you guys wanted a couple of days to yourself. What made you change your
mind?"
"Lets just
say that we have a surprise for you and we made up and everything, well maybe
not everything, is ok now."
"I'm glad to
hear it. Colleen is getting so excited."
"I can't wait
to see you again Matt. It has been so long."
"I know. Does
Leah now about me?"
"No. But
that's another surprise for her. Not only will she find out if she has a twin
she will meet my brother. Look, i go to go Leah's now coming. I'll see you in
a minute." Jeff finished quickly and hung up not waiting for a reply from
Matt.
"Who where
you talking to?" Leah asked as she took his hand.
"i was ummmm...just
seeing if my mobile worked over here." he said with a smile as he led her
out to baggage claim.
