Chapter 12
As
Chloe sat in the locker room with Jeff, Matt, Amy, Trish and Jamie they talked
about what Vince had offered Chloe, a full time contract.
“Are
you going to?” Jeff asked as he sat down beside her and she leaned onto him.
“I
don’t know, my dream is to go back to racing, you know that.”
“But
this is such an opportunity.” Matt said a Lee walked in.
“Great
show guys!!” she said as she sat down on Matt’s knee.
“I
know it is but I don’t know if it’s what I want.”
“What
are you talking about?” Lee asked as she looked confused but Matt told her.
“But
you can be with me all the time.” Jeff said as he made her lay down on the
sofa and rest her head on his lap as he stroked her forehead and ran his hand
through her shoulder length brown hair.
“I
know that and Matt can be with Jamie all the time but wrestling isn’t my
dream.”
“I’m
not going to pressure you, you know what you want.” He said as he smiled down
at her.
“But
I don’t. But Vince did say if I didn’t want the contact he said he would
like to be one of my personnel sponsors. And that I’m free to do any shows
when I come over here. And if I don’t race that will be a lot.”
Just
then Chloe’s phone rang in her bag, which woke Jamie up, he began to cry as
Matt got up and took him from the carrycot, Chloe got her phone and answered it.
“Hello.”
“Chloe?”
“Yes.”
“It’s
Frank Williams.”
“Frank,
hi, how are you?”
“I’m
ok. You?”
“Yeh,
I’m great.”
“I
saw Smackdown. That was some match.” He teased.
“Thanks,
I think. Anyway, how can I help you?”
”Well, Juan-Pablo has flu, and the test driver’s wife is expecting a baby
next week and as we have the Indianapolis race next weekend, I was kind of
hoping you could possibly drive as I only have one driver.”
“Me,
but I haven’t driven since I won at Silverstone.”
“I
know but if you can get a flight to Indianapolis and then we have found a
circuit for you to drive on for a few days. Ralf will come to help you with the
car.”
“I
don’t know Frank.”
“Please
Chloe, you would get me out of one hell of a mess.”
“Well,
ok, but I can’t promise I still have the knack.”
“I’m
sure you will. If you get to the circuit, our trailers are already there and so
is yours.”
“Why
is mine there?”
“Because
I knew you would help me out.”
“You
did, did you?” she said laughing.
“Yes.
And you can bring as many friends as you like and the baby.”
“I
will don’t worry.”
“Well
I fly out tomorrow, so I’ll see you tomorrow night, the mechanics will take
you to the circuit tomorrow.”
“Ok.
But I’m not promising anything.”
“I
know you’ll try your best. And then we’ll talk about you coming back next
season.”
“Ok,
great, I had better go find a flight.”
“Ok,
thank-you.. Bye.”
“Bye.”
She said as she hung up and turned back to the group who sat starring at her.
“I have to go to Indianapolis.”
“Why?”
Jeff asked as he took Jamie from his brother.
“Because
I’m driving in the race next week.”
“WHAT!?
You haven’t driven for over a year.”
“I
know but I’m till under contract I guess, and he gave me the opportunity to
drive in the first place, it’s the least I could do.” She said as she put
her hat on. “I have to go pack. Do you lot wanna come?”
“Well,
none of us are going to the pay per view in Australia, so we have sometime of,
so I guess we could.”
Amy
said.
“Trish,
do you wanna come?” Chloe asked her new friend.
“I
don’t want to be in the way.”
“You
won’t, I can take as many friends as I like.”
“Well,
ok.”
“Great,
now we have to get going because all my stuff is still at the house and I have
to get a flight for the morning.” She said as they all gathered their things
and left together. Jeff carried Jamie and Matt took the carrycot. They all got
in different cars. Matt, Lee and Amy went together and Chloe, Jeff and Trish
went together along with Jamie, who was in the back with Jeff. The drove all
through the night to get back to Cameron. As the arrived the pulled all the
cushions from the sofas and grabbed a couple of blankets as they all fell asleep
in the middle of the living room, whilst Jamie lay asleep in his car seat.
