"The Shining Star" Andrew Ashton

[:PROLOGUE:]

Did you see the match last night? Did you see the way even though Andrew holds grudges over Adam Cameron, he didn't charge at him right from the start? He kept a cool head, and didn't do anything rashionally. It's called having good in ring knowledge. In case you don't know, things have changed with Andrew over the time he has been missing from action. In the ring, he is a totally different person. Yeah, he has the same moves, but five months ago, he was making stupid mistakes in matches. Five months ago, he was doubting himself as he walked up to the curtains, and crushing the confidence he had built up during interviews before matches. If you think he's still a push over, you're in for a big suprise. A really big suprise.

Usually, when he would win matches, he would boast about them after winning. This time he just wants to move on to the next match. Yeah, he won a match with the World Champion in. He had the World Champion beat in that match, but had been tagged out without knowing by his tag team partner. He would usually hold on to something like that, and attempt to confront Jeff Evans over that, but he isn't going to. Who cares as long as they won the match? Fuck what happened in it. As long as he knows at he had the match won, he was the one who hit Adam Cameron with the Lights Out. He was the one who left him there for Jeff Evans to run in and get the pin. He didn't even need to put his feet on the ropes. The match was ours for the taking. Adam Cameron will get some payback on Jeff Evans at Ground Zero, because that time, Jeff wont have someone to hit the winning move for him, it's down to him.

The fans were on his back all the way through the match, and instead of feeling uncomfortable, like he thought he would, it made him want to try even harder. He wanted to be able to walk back out of the ring with pride, knowing that what he just did in the ring, has the equivilant of saying "Boo me now". It gave him the rush his matches had been looking for. He wrestled to the best of his ability, and then some. Even when Andrew and Adam Cameron got tagged in at the same time -a situation that has been seen many a time, with the man getting cheered using the rush coming from the crowd to his advantage, and wiping the other wrestler out- Andrew still faught back, and got the upper hand on Cameron, and he didn't have anyone giving him support. He didn't have the fans cheering for him like they used to. It didn't even feel like the fans were there at all. He just fazed them out, and got down to wrestling, something Andrew Ashton has never done in his wrestling career. And what happened when he did it? He actually wrestled good, and made no stupid mistakes like he used to. Within five months, he had changed his in ring knowledge from poor, to amazing, and with the fans booing him, it gives him the extra rush he needs.

The Shining Star proved at Breakout that, although he looks the same in the ring, little things have changed, but those little things make one hell of a difference. As we have already discovered, the main thing he has changed is the way he thinks in the ring. He doesn't make the same kind of rash decisions as he used to. Now his rash decisions arent things that are going to give his opponents time to make a comeback. His rash decisions now make sure his opponents only just get time to breath, and block out any chance of a comeback. Four months ago, things changed for Andrew. He knew he couldn't just sit about and do nothing, which he intended to do. He was only twenty two, turning twenty three on Friday. He had a huge career in front of him. He wasn't going to be the person to let the family name down, so he decided to get back to training, and improve every aspect of his game.

[:5:Months:Ago:]

We fade in on Andrew Ashtons sitting room. Andrew Ashton is sat on a chair, staring directly at the wall. It had been four weeks sinse he had been in a ring. At first, he was happy about it. He didn't care about wrestling anymore. He had all the money he needed to make sure he didn't have to work again, but for those four weeks, he felt like a big part of his life was missing. He looked about his house, seeing empty beer cans, and all other sorts of rubbish, just lay on the floor. The house looked as though it had not been cleaned sinse Andrew got back, which it hadn't.

Andrews life for the past four weeks consisted of throwing partys, which a few of his old friends came to, and getting drunk. He had nothing else to do with his life, so he didn't see why he shouldn't have some fun. Only now was he starting to show signs of missing the ring. He worked so hard to get where he was in his career, and now it was gone. He hadn't won a World Title. That was the main thing he wanted to do. Everyone else in his family had won a World Title, apart from him. He began thinking about what he was going to do, and what his dad would say to him if he was still around now.

You're never going to ammount to anything.
I know.

You're never going to be as good as Timothy.
I know.

You're never going to be as good as Aaron.
I know.

You're never going to be as good as Corey.
I know.

You're a disgrace to the Ashton name
I know.

You're never going to become a World Champion
I know.

You're going to drag the Ashton name down.
...No I'm not.

One thing Andrew promised he was never going to do, was ruin the family name. He hadn't trained all of his life to become a professional wrestler, to be the one to let everyone down. Sure, he wasn't as good as Timothy, and he wasn't as good as Aaron, and people noticed that. What they also noticed, though, was how Andrew never stopped trying. Each and every week, he would work his ass off to try and prove he was just as good as his brothers. That was one of the main reasons Andrew was respected. He never gave up.

Andrew slowly got up to his feet, and began to make his way through the sea of trash on the floor. He stood in front of a mirror, and stared at himself. He was unshaven, his hair was a mess, he looked like he hadn't washed in a year. He stared into his own eyes, and realized what he wass looking at. He was looking at someone he could hardly recognise.. Someone who had forgot everything he used to stand for. Someone who had forgot all the promises he made to hismelf. He was staring at a shell of his former self.

He stayed there, staring at himself. His eyes not blinking, at all. The scene begins to fade away..

[:The:Next:Day:]

The scene fades in once again, back in Andrew Ashtons sitting room. The room is completely spotless. All the trash that was there last time, gone. The whole house was completely clean. After finally thinking about what he was doing, Andrew decided that he wasn't going to sit around and do absolutely nothing. A few things made sense to him. He realized he was throwing his life away, and for no reason. He realized that he was being completely stupid. Wrestling was his life. He didn't have the ability to be able to do nothing for the rest of his life. He had decided that it wasn't the end for him.

The scene begins to fade out once again, without Andrew being seen. The reason for this, he wasn't at his house. After he had finished cleaning, he had decided to go somewhere else. He knew he couldn't just sign up for a federation in the condition he was in, and expect to do well.

The scene fades in once again, inside a gym. The gym was empty, apart from one person, throwing a few punches at a punching bag. Sweat begin to drip from Andrews face, as his punches began to get harder and harder. It was time to drop all the stupid stuff that people assosiated with Andrew Ashton. He had to drop the dorky image. The dorky image was what was also holding Andrew back. How can you look at someone who doesnt swear, hardly ever gets mad, and allows people to push him around, and take him seriously?

Yeah, the fans loved him, but for all he knew, it was out of sympathy for him. What did he do to get them to like him? Stand up to Chris Extreme. What happened after that? Chris Extreme continued to rip Andrew apart verbally, and in the ring, yet they still cheered for him. It was starting to become clear it was for sympathy. He was just foolish enough to believe it was because of his in ring ability.

Andrew began to remember standing in front of the mirror. His punches began to get harder. The punching bag swung backwards even more. He thought of the argument he had with himself...

You're never going to ammount to anything.
Yes I am.

You're never going to be as good as Timothy.
Yes, I am.

You're never going to be as good as Aaron.
YES, I AM.

You're never going to be as good as Corey.
YES I AM!

You're a disgrace to the Ashton name
NO, I'M NOT

You're never going to become a World Champion
YES I AM

You're going to drag the Ashton name down.
NO, I AM NOT!

Andrew began to feel some confidence run through him. His punches got even harder, even though he wasn't throwing them any harder than he was earlier. The anger he had for himself slowly began to go away.. He was starting to become himself.. He started to remember the promises he made to himself.. And he was going to make sure he kept his word on those promises... The scene fades out once again.

From that day forward, Andrew was always at the gym. He wasn't going to let himself go again. When he thought he was ready, he was going to go back into the squared circle. He had a lot to learn, which is why he mixed excerise with training.

[:PRESENT::DAY:]

That is the answer to the question of why Andrew wasn't there when New Era Wrestling first opened. He didn't feel like he was ready. It had nothing to do with waiting untill New Era Wrestling was off the ground. If anyone would have took the time to ask him that, he would have told them. If Kyle Rayner and Trevor Wrath took the time to ask Andrew why he wasn't there from the start, he would have told them. Instead, they both think it was because Andrew thought he was too good for the federation? Andrew never thought he was too good for anything. He was greatful the federation wanted him. Just because he accomplished quite a lot in the first and second run of New Era Wrestling, that makes him too good to come back? No.

If waiting untill you're 100% sure you are ready to go back in to the ring means you're too good for the federation, then I guess Andrew is guilty of thinking he is too good. This week he gets to prove why he waited the extra few weeks before joining. He gets to prove that his in ring knowledge has improved. He goes against Kyle Rayner and Trevor Wrath in a Triple Threat match... He has his back against the wall in this one, but knows he has the ability to come out of it on top...

His eyes opened.. A grin began to form on his face.. A flame in his eyes began to get brighter... He was ready for anything New Era Wrestling had to throw at him... The burning desire in his heart was still there.. The flame in his heart was getting hotter and hotter... The Shining Star was back, and he was better than ever..

You're never going to ammount to anything.
I already am something..

You're never going to be as good as Timothy.
One day, I will...

You're never going to be as good as Aaron.
I will..

You're never going to be as good as Corey.
I already am..

You're a disgrace to the Ashton name
Am I?

You're never going to become a World Champion
Yes I will..

You're going to drag the Ashton name down.
Haha... We will see..
