Opening Gambit

In my career, I have done a lot of travelling. It is tough being on the road. You are away from your family for quite a long time. And, you begin to ask yourself why? Why do you do this to yourself and the ones you love? You can never really find the answer until you have retired. Sure, you can think of many answers, but the right one is never there until you have walked away from it all.

What is the answer you ask? To quote a title of a song I heard while in Japan, from a group simply named Move, the answer lies in the title of one of their songs: "Rage your Dreams". Oddly enough, this is the topic for us to explore today, in a special edition of The Opening Gambit.

(Gambit: Noun – A remark made to open or redirect a conversation.)

One of the greatest things in life that man can experience is the search for the meaning of one's life. There are many answers that can be given to that problem. However, I feel that there is only one answer for this. Life is what you make of it. And for many of us, it seems that our dreams are what many of us strive for to complete in life. That becomes the focus on many people's mind. To solve the meaning of life is to complete our dreams.

When I was still wrestling, every organization I was in had one PPV that was the biggest PPV for the entire year. When I was in the JBWF, they had the Twilight Hour. When I was in WCBW, they had the TidalCade. When I was in the UBWF, they had Basement Mania. (The list of organizations goes on and on, so I will keep it short.) And in all of the organizations I was a part of, none of them could hold a candle to Basement Mania. It was like a dream when I was a part of one of them. I never imagined that I would experience so much excitement when I was there. I was competing in the biggest event in the world.

Yet, I never experience much success there. I never had a chance to be in the main event. Which to many of us in any federation, being the main event of any big PPV is the greatest honor in one's career. And, it is this that I longed to be part of while I was wrestling. I never had a chance to Rage My Dream.

Ok, I am sure that many are asking: What are you talking about? To those that need an explanation, here it goes. The purpose of Raging Your Dreams are simple. Everyone in life can try to complete their dreams that they have. But, it is a difficult task to accomplish. You can reach your dream, but in order to accomplish, you have to Rage it. Raging means that you must put forth the idea that you must defy the odds. Rage against something that many people feel that is impossible.

And, no matter where we are in life, or what we do in life, there is always the idea that Raging Your Dreams is impossible.

Now, I want you to examine the number at the top of the page. Examine it VERY CLOSELY. What does that number mean to you? Some one knows what it means, I am sure. And to that person, I say this:

RAGE YOUR DREAMS!

Until then….
