The Glass is Half Empty
By Christopher Q. Lock

Well kids, its about that time again...so kick back, light up your pipes, take a few sips from your snifter and enjoy:

Last month i touched on the topic of the new breed (No Pun) of Hardcore. Well, as of recently, there has been considerable controversy and speculation on the boards regarding so called "Legends". It seems the young upstarts always want a shot at the big man, the guy on top. There's no respect anymore. Granted, the young will always resent the rule of the old.

When I first pushed the Breed through the Grymm Dungeon School of Wrestling, they knew that they'd spent the first few months, maybe even years, fighting their way through them dreggs of the UBWF. They were taught to repect the guys that have been there for 5 years, those who forged ahead so that wrestlers such as themselves could be afforded the oppurtunity to bump on that same plywood. But, as always, there was one...There's always that one. One of my wayward students decided he could push the limits...he thought he was prepared to spit in the face of a legend...

And for some unholy reason...Dan decided to stand up to Stone Cold Lynch.

Nonetheless, a lesson was taught. The Breed realized that it would be tough. Infact, the first three months were nothing but 4 way hardcore dances - against each other. Eventually, former Breed Members held the Cyberspace and Hardcore Titles.

It seems wrestlers these days dont look to the veterans for guidance and inspiration anymore. It's no longer about sport, or mutual respect. It's all about winning. Quite frankly, I'm glad i lossed the title to Stryker at Basementmania. And the reason is this:

In winning, nothing is gained...In losing however, you learn something.

For what it's worth, I believe the UBWF has just started. In comparison to where we've been, and where we are now, we have nowhere to go but up. With the raw talent, dedication, and new blood flowing gradually into the federation, the UB has become ten times what it was 7 years ago.
