Hello again, The March to Meltdown has come to an end and now the TWF has arrived to the hottest event of the summer (well usually in the summer). We have a bunch to talk about with all that is going on in the TWF leading up to this event, and I can't do it without a little help from a friend. Peter Cash is joining me for today's column as we run down the full card for Meltdown. So lets not waste anymore time and get to it.
Hayden: "Alright Pete, hope you're ready for this. We'll start with Chaos Wolf against PJ Cash. PJ has been on a mission as of late to beat up on any celebrities showing up to a TWF event, all this stemming from his WM10 loss thanks to Adam Sandler and Kevin James. Chaos Wolf playing the hero gets involved and now they face one on one".
Peter: "Well you know, I feel that Cash still has a lot to prove his worth in the TWF. How long has this guy been here? Three years and he hasn't won a pay per view match yet? I give the nod to the more experienced Wolf".
Hayden: "Seems that hero's usually prevail and it may be the case this time around, but I would love to see a Cash victory. Okay, jumping from one match to another, lets talk about the "Red River Shootout" between Matt Cruz and Jack Swagger".
Peter: "This one has gotten pretty personal between these two, wouldn't you say"?
Hayden: "I think that's safe to say. Both men with the amateur wrestling backgrounds, should be an even contest".
Peter: "Well we are going to see for sure who the better man is when Meltdown rolls around, but when it comes to pure wrestling ability, I am going to take Swagger to gain an upset victory over the veteran Cruz".
Hayden: "You know, I have that same feeling about this match, they tried to do this once before and Swagger tried to end it fast, but I think this time he'll stick it out and get a win. Next up is Jericho and Damion West".
Peter: "Jericho is acting like he has a bone to pick with Damion West, one of the all time TWF greats. However, this one, for me at least, is tough to call".
Hayden: "Will have to agree again. Both men will be at each others throats, but I expect to see a Jericho victory by the end of the night. And what about the Intercontinental title match between John Morrison and "The Worlds Strongest Man" Mark Henry? Morrison competed in a tournament to get a shot at the gold, but what he got was the belt handed to him after Rockwell had to give it up".
Peter: "Looking at this match on paper, it should be complete and utter domination on the part of Mark Henry. Although, I don't think we should count the "Shaman" out of it".
Hayden: "Morrison didn't fare all too well in his last encounter with Henry, but at Meltdown it may be a different story. I'm going with Morrison to retain. Next let's talk about Edge vs. Mr. Kennedy. Edge became the shortest reigning Universal Champion when he was drafted to Rampage just moments after his title win. He's trying to climb his way back up to the top, but he's going to have to go through a former champion in Kennedy. I don't think he will have any problems in doing so".
Peter: "Edge thought he was just gonna gallivant onto Rampage and be dominant like he was over on Primetime, and so far that has not been the case. I think Edge is in for a rude awakening at Meltdown in the form of Mr. Kennedy".
Heyden: "What about this whole situation with John Cena and The Requiem. Kevin Thorn won't have the rest of his blood sucking followers when he's facing Cena one on one at Meltdown. Think Thorn is in trouble here"?
Peter: "No doubt about it. Thorn has faced a few big names in the past, but I think Cena is going to wipe the mat with him when they go one on one at Meltdown".
Hayden: "Gotta agree. There are several gimmick matches on the card for Meltdown, but let's start with the ladder match for the King of Cable Championship. Cain vs. Ramsley.... title on the line. Does Ramsley even care about the belt? I think he just wants to torture Cain and take away everything that's important to him".
Peter: "This feud, in my eyes, has become much bigger than the KOC. Ramsley has single handedly tried to break the will of Sebastian Cain, and I have to agree, I don't think Ramsley gives a care about that championship belt".
Hayden: "Well said, any predictions for this one"?
Peter: "I'm going to say good triumphs over evil here, Cain retains in a great match".
Hayden: "That's what I'm hoping for, not to say that Ramsley will be a pushover, this one's definitely going to be a battle".
Peter: "Agreed whole heartedly, but I see Cain holding his KOC at the top of the ladder when all is said and done".
Hayden: "Let's touch on a match that's been in the works for months now, A Hell in a Cell featuring Joe Corey and The Undertaker".
Peter: " This is probably the match I am interested in most, just because these two have so much history. For those who remember, these two were supposed to face off at Meltdown last year. But here we are, and it has all come down to this".
Hayden: "These two are capable of putting on some great matches, but who wins this time around"?
Peter: "I have to go with Taker, so many guys have claimed to be the one to end his career forever, but talk is cheap. Taker cancels Joe Corey's show".
Hayden: "I'll have to disagree with that one, I won't go as far as to say Corey will end Taker's career, but win the match and survive the Cell, I think that's something Corey can and will do". And what about this one, SlaughterHouse gets a spot on the Meltdown card with a match to decide their NWA Champion, Samoa Joe or Triple H is the question".
Peter: "This is a big match. Not only for the two competitors taking part, but for the Slaughterhouse brand as a whole. These guys get to showcase what SH is all about on one of the biggest PPV stages of the year".
Hayden: "Very true, this match will not only determine the new champion, but the face of the brand".
Peter: "With that being said, I am going to have to go with The Game, Triple H to walk out the NWA Champion".
Hayden: "And I'm going to have to go with Samoa Joe".
Peter: "Very bold of you".
Hayden: "Just a feeling. But let's move on to the Universal title match between Jordan Rockwell and Shane Thompson. They have done battle before, but this time its a Three Stages of Hell match. MMA round, Last Man Standing and if needed a third round to be announced".
Peter: "These guys have a long, storied history. They have had some brutal matches in the past. This is a whole new chapter in that rivalry. I'd say in his time away from the ring , perhaps he forgot a thing or two about Rockwell's offense. With that, I am going with Jordan Rockwell".
Hayden: "I think we'll need that third round, but who knows what it could be. The title is currently vacated. Either way I'm picking Shane Thompson. And finally, the biggest match of Jason Oliver's career. A match that he has worked for and earned through the March to Meltdown tournament. He has a huge opportunity to dethrone Randy Orton here and I'm hoping and betting he's going to get the job done. He's earned this".
Peter: "I have to agree, I remember when Jason Oliver won the King of Cable title for the first time. It was clear that he had the ability to go to the top. He has been one of the most controversial wrestlers in the TWF, but from obscurity, he has the chance to become world champion".
Hayden: "You said it. And that's all I have for us for this column. Thanks for helping out here, buddy.
Peter: "No problem, mang".
And thank you all for reading. Meltdown looks to be a historic event that no one will soon forget. We'll see you next time. Enjoy the show when TWF heads to Arizona.
