October 23, 2007

Over 11,000 fans packed the Comcast Center but it wasn't for a Terrapins game. They knew it was a night full of action as the stars of PrimeTime rolled in. Kato vs. Jordan Rockwell and Finlay vs. Bobby Lashley were on tap for later, but the action got started with Uprising.
Rene Dupree vs. K.C. James (invitee) For the first time in years, Rene Dupree came out to compete without Dawn Marie in his corner. However, he still had the same pompous attitude about him, and the youngster K.C. James tried to pull the upset after dropkicking him into the corner and rolled him up for a 2 count. James kept the pressure on, but after reversing an irish whip, Dupree caught him with a nasty spinebuster. After performing the French Tickler dance, Dupree pulled James up and slapped on a cobra clutch, putting James out and forcing the referee to call for the bell. Paul London and Brian Kendrick vs. Kevin Thorn and Eddie Saint James w/ Ariel and Monica About a week before Halloween, the freaks were sure out against the tandem of London and Kendrick. But their high flying abilities were no match for Thorn and The Saint, who have formed a rather dark alliance over the last several weeks. Kendrick went to the ropes looking to springboard off them, but a momentary distraction by Ariel allowed Thorn to knock him to the floor. London then ran right into a nasty foot to the face from Saint James before Thorn delivered the "Dark Kiss" to put him away. Thorn and Saint James celebrated their win in ritualistic fashion as Ariel and Monica joined them in the ring. The fans showered them with boos as the shot faded out and the stage was set for PrimeTime. PRIMETIME GOES LIVE
*THIS VERSION OF RESULTS WILL BE CONDENSED*
IT WAS THE FIRST SHOW AFTER ERUPTION AND THINGS GOT STARTED WITH "METALINGUS" BY ALTER BRIDGE PLAYING AND EDGE CAME OUT WITH HIS NEWLY WON UNIVERSAL TITLE TO NOTHING BUT BOOS. THE RATED R SUPERSTAR ALSO HAD AN AMAZING PYRO DISPLAY FOLLOW HIM TO THE RING. Edge talks about how this will be a night of celebration and that he will finally show the world that he is the best superstar in the entire industry today. He then starts to taunt the crowd when they boo him, saying people in Maryland wouldn't know success if it knocked out the few remaining teeth they had. Moments later, Randy Orton came out and walked down to the ring. He said everyone knows that with the exception of Eruption, he has "owned" Edge and he deserves the first crack at the title..... he wants that match tonight! Before Edge can even respond, "The Time is Now" hits and John Cena comes out. He claims that as the former champion, he deserves the first title shot. Orton tells Cena that much like Edge, he has "owned" him as well and if the fans were voting for superstar of the year tonight, he would win the poll hands down. The fans get another surprise when "Here comes the Money" plays and Shane McMahon comes out.... with an idea. He puts Cena and Orton in a match tonight to determine a brand new number one contender. But it won't be just any match. It will take place in the confines of a 15-foot high steel cage! Orton and Cena both seem ready, and Edge likes the prospects of them in such a brutal atmosphere as well. COMMERCIAL BREAK............ RETURN FROM BREAK..... BACKSTAGE...... WHEN PRIMETIME RETURNS, FANS IN THE ARENA CHEER WHEN THEY SEE CM PUNK BACKSTAGE GETTING LOOSE. SUDDENLY, ARIEL WALKS UP. CM Punk (backing up a bit): "Whoa.... warn me next time, I didn't bring any garlic with me tonight". Ariel: "Ya know, Punk, I just thought that I would let you know, that whatever happens between you and Gangrel tonight means nothing. It means nothing because as long as Kevin Thorn is Intercontinental champion, you won't get another shot at the title. And that will be a long, long time". ARIEL WALKS AWAY AS PUNK JUST LOOKS ON AND SMIRKS. Harry Smith vs. Sonny Siaki (invitee) Fans were very happy to see Harry Smith back in a TWF ring. After a long layoff since being traded to PrimeTime, the son of the late British Bulldog looked to be in peak physical condition. He didn't have much trouble with Siaki, either. After a nice dropkick, he delivered a beautiful delay vertical suplex. Smith then shot Siaki to the corner and followed in but Siaki got a big boot up in his face. He then went to the middle turnbuckle and flew off but Smith showed incredible power, catching him in mid air and shifting him to his shoulder before powerslamming him to the mat for the win. Smith received a very big cheer for his successful return to the ring. Match Time: 4:29 BACKSTAGE AREA....... IN THE BACK, GREGORY HELMS IS WITH PRIMETIME's BRAND NEW BACKSTAGE CORRESPONDENT, ANASTACIA ROSE. Anastacia Rose: "Gregory Helms, you've asked for this time, but before you address the fans, I know a lot of them are wondering what happened to the partnership between you and Bill Cutting". Gregory Helms: "Have you ever heard of inferiority, Anastacia? Of course you have, you have to look into the mirror every day. I had an inferior tag team partner who was dragging my career in the gutter with him. I had to do something.... and I did. Now, my focus is back where it needs to be..... on me. So I hope the Lightheavyweight division is taking notice, because there is.......... KENNY DOANE COMES INTO THE SHOT WITH THE LIGHTHEAVYWEIGHT TITLE OVER HIS SHOULDER. Kenny Doane: "There's what.... a hurricane comin' through? (laughs) In all seriousness, Helms, you're a great lightheavyweight, but you're not in my league". DOANE WALKS AWAY AND HELMS TURNS TO LOOK AT HIM. Helms (under his breath): "We'll see about that". HELMS WALKS PAST ANASTACIA ROSE, HEADING TO THE RING. Gregory Helms vs. Carney This was the best match Helms has had in some time as Helms backed up his words against Carney. Carney was cruising early, but he went for his "C-Drive" too early and Helms turned it into a nice DDT. After catching Carney with a wicked Shining Wizard, he covered him and hooked the leg for the very quick win. Match Time: 2:50 COMMERCIAL BREAK........... RETURN FROM BREAK.... BACKSTAGE..... WHEN PRIMETIME RETURNS FROM BREAK, ANASTACIA ROSE IS WITH HIGH OCTANE. Anastacia Rose: "Here with me at this time is Damion West who is fresh off a big victory over PJ Cash at Eruption. Damion, can you tell us how nice it was to knock off the self made millionaire"? High Octane: "Like I said before, money can only take you so far. The fact that PJ Cash is a millionaire doesn't hide the fact that he's a young punk kid who needs........... JUST THEN, HIGH OCTANE IS BLINDSIDED BY PJ CASH WHO NAILS HIM IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD AND THEN THROWS HIM HARD INTO THE WALL. AS WEST CRUMPLES TO THE FLOOR, CASH REELS BACK AND KICKS HIM RIGHT IN THE RIBS. CM Punk vs. Gangrel CM Punk was eager to get some redemption on Gangrel, whose interference at Eruption cost him the Intercontinental title. And even though Punk came out on fire, Gangrel was able to slow him down with a side russian legsweep and a big swinging neckbreaker. Gangrel stayed on top of Punk with an aggressive attack, but Punk was able to reverse an irish whip to the corner and catch Gangrel with a flying knee to the head. After a big bulldog, Punk went to the apron and flew into the ring with a clothesline off the top rope. But Gangrel hit the mat to avoid contact and was in position to pull the upset. Gangrel loaded him up for the Impaler DDT but Punk countered out of it and got Gangrel up onto his shoulders, landing the "GTS" to finally put him away. Match Time: 9:09 FOOTAGE IS SHOWN OF THE 4 GIRLS OF THE HAREM ARRIVING AT MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN OMAHA, NEBRASKA TO CHECK UP ON JOHNNY HAZARD. BUT HIS DOCTOR GREETS THEM IN THE LOBBY AND SAYS HAZARD IS IN "NO CONDITION" TO RECEIVE VISITORS AT THIS TIME. JOE COREY COMES TO THE RING WITH PAUL HEYMAN. SHANE McMAHON IS WAITING FOR THEM AT A DESK IN THE RING. COREY IS THERE TO SIGN HIS BRAND NEW CONTRACT TO PRIMETIME. HEYMAN EXAMINES THE CONTRACT AND DETERMINES THAT IT IS THE TERMS THEY AGREED TO, AND COREY PROMPTLY SIGNS IT. COREY THEN GRABS SHANE's MICROPHONE AND SAYS IT's TIME FOR HIM TO CONDUCT THE REST OF HIS BUSINESS FOR THE EVENING. COREY CLAIMS THAT CHAOS WOLF COMMITTED "CAREER SUICIDE" AT ERUPTION AND HE CALLS HIM OUT, DOUBTING THAT WOLF WILL FACE HIM AGAIN. BUT THE SOUND OF A HOWLING WOLF IS HEARD AND A FULL MOON APPEARS ON THE PRIMETRON. MOMENTS LATER, WOLF COMES OUT, MARCHING TO THE RING. HE SLIDES IN AND THE FIGHT IS ON. COREY BEATS HIM TO THE PUNCH, BUT WOLF QUICKLY BEGINS TO GET THE BEST OF HIM. THE CROWD IS LOVING IT BUT SOON, OFFICIALS FROM THE BACK ARE OUT TO BREAK THEM UP. THEY HAVE A TOUGH TIME IN DOING SO HOWEVER, AS THE MEN GET AWAY TWICE TO GO AT IT SOME MORE. FINALLY, THE TWO ARE PULLED APART AS CHANTS OF "LET THEM GO" RING THROUGH THE ARENA. BACKSTAGE........ JORDAN ROCKWELL AND SHAWN MICHAELS ARE SHOWN TALKING IN THE BACK WHEN THE HARDY's COME UP. Matt Hardy: "Hey, what's up guys"? Jordan Rockwell: "Not much, just admiring our shiny gold belts here". Shawn Michaels: "Yeah, you'd think he'd be worried about facing ECW's "silent assassin" Kato tonight, but I guess that's just me". Jeff Hardy: "Yeah, we just wanted to congratulate you guys on retaining those at Eruption..... that Hell in the Cell was sick"! Matt Hardy: "No doubt...... and good luck out there tonight". COMMERCIAL BREAK......... RETURN FROM BREAK..... RINGSIDE....... Jordan Rockwell vs. Kato w/ Sonny Onoo Without Shawn Michaels at ringside, Rockwell had more than his share of problems with Kato and his manager, Sonny Onoo. Rockwell controlled the match early but after shooting Kato to the corner, he ran into a back elbow and Kato took him down with a stiff savat kick. Kato then applied a nerve hold on the trapezius muscle of Rockwell, but Rockwell used the crowd to escape his clutches and he shot him to the ropes. Kato ducked a clothesline and as he came off the other side, both men were thinking the same thing, going for a crossbody, and they collided in mid air. Rockwell rolled over to the ropes which is when Kato distracted referee Charles Robinson, allowing Onoo to throw salt in Rockwell's eyes! Kato then went over and delivered a big german suplex for the 1...........2.........., but Rockwell kicked out! Kato couldn't believe it, but he kept the offense coming. After several knifedge chops, Kato kicked Rockwell in the back of the head with a nasty roundhouse. Rockwell fell to the mat as Kato went to the corner, at the advice of Onoo. He went to the top rope and came flying off but from his knees, Rockwell punched him in the abdomen. Half-blinded, The Franchise then got up and delivered "Extreme Measures" out of nowhere to get the victory. Match Time: 12:25 AFTER THE MATCH, ROCKWELL WAS ATTACKED BY THE BLOOD BROTHERS BEFORE HE COULD EVEN GET HIS HAND RAISED. BUT OUT CAME SHAWN MICHAELS TO HELP HIS PARTNER AND THE 4 MEN WERE BRAWLING IN AND OUT OF THE RING. KATO GOT BACK INTO IT TO GIVE THE ADVANTAGE BACK TO ECW BUT OUT CAME THE HARDY's. MATT AND JEFF HIT THE RING AND CLEARED IT AFTER CATCHING DUSTIN KASH WITH THE POETRY IN MOTION. ROCKWELL AND MICHAELS GOT UP, SEEMING A LITTLE SURPRISED BY THE HELP FROM THE HARDY's, BUT AT THE SAME TIME APPRECIATIVE. BACKSTAGE...... DRESSING ROOM....... CM PUNK IS SHOWN IN HIS DRESSING ROOM WITH MARIA, WHO IS SITTING ON HIS LAP. Maria: "But you won your match tonight..... it was great"! CM Punk: "I know, but my contract stated my only shot to get the title back was at Eruption". PUNK LOWERS HIS HEAD, OBVIOUSLY DISTRAUGHT. Maria: "Don't worry, we'll come up with something". Axl Irvin w/ Traci Brooks vs. Daivari This was another match in which one of the elite stars of PrimeTime, Axl Irvin, had some trouble with Daivari. The former Lightheavyweight champion showed a real mean streak as he attacked Axl. But me missed everything with a moonsault off the top rope and after back to back clotheslines, Axl shot him to the ropes for a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Moments later, Axl delivered the "Axl Cutter" and it was all over. Match Time: 7:58 BUT AFTER THE MATCH, UMAGA STORMED THE RING AND DRILLED AXL FROM BEHIND AS HE GOT HIS ARM RAISED. AFTER A BIG HEADBUTT, UMAGA DROPPED AXL WITH THE SAMOAN SPIKE. TRACI CAME INTO THE RING TO CHECK ON AXL, BUT UMAGA SHOWED NO RELENT, GRABBING HER BY THE HAIR. HE THEN PICKED HER UP AND DELIVERED A SAMOAN DROP BEFORE DRAGGING HER INTO THE CORNER. THE CROWD LOOKED ON IN HORROR AS UMAGA CHARGED FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RING, SLAMMING INTO TRACI's HEAD! UMAGA LEFT, YELLING IN SAMOAN AS BOTH AXL AND TRACI WERE HURT. COMMERCIAL BREAK....... RETURN FROM BREAK....... RINGSIDE...... Bobby Lashley vs. Finlay One of the marquee matchups of the night was a hard hitting, smashmouth brawl, which everyone expected. Both men delivered their best shots but Lashley gained the advantage when he caught a charging Finlay with a double underhook throw. Lashley then lifted Finlay up in the gorilla press, but Finlay slipped free and low-blowed Lashley, something referee Mike Enos somehow missed. Finlay then went to the corner and picked up his shillelagh, but right when he turned around, Lashley was back up, plowing through the Irishman with a spear. Lashley covered Finlay and got the 3 count. Match Time: 6:36 PARKING GARAGE..... A CONCERNED AXL IRVIN LOOKS ON AS TRACI BROOKS IS LOADED INTO AN AMBULANCE AND WHISKED AWAY TO THE HOSPITAL. #1 Contender for Universal Title/Steel Cage Match John Cena vs. Randy Orton Coming off the grueling Eruption match, this was probably the last thing Orton and Cena wanted to do. But with the number one contendership on the line, they went all out. Orton looked uncomfortable all match as Cena took it to him and after he hit his spinning sideslam, he seemed to have things well in control. But after a thumb to the eye, Orton threw him head first into the steel cage before reaching down into his tights, revealing why he seemed uncomfortable all match..... handcuffs! Orton handcuffed Cena to the top ring rope and after a nasty kick to the head, he was able to easily escape the cage and become the number one contender! Match Time: 14:10 "BURN IN MY LIGHT" PLAYED AS ORTON STARED AT CENA, STILL HANDCUFFED, BEFORE GOING TO THE BACK. IN THE RING, CENA WAS STEAMING. OFF AIR..............
