Pyro illuminates the Scottrade Center which is flowing with TWF fans. Many of them are toting signs and wearing T-shirts supporting their favorite superstars. Michael Cole: "It stands at about a cool thirty degrees outside, but we are in the middle of February and the winter season so you know what that means"! Honky Tonk Man: "For the eighth time, the TWF holds War in the Winter, an event that has always brought out the best in the superstars on showcase"! "LOSE YOURSELF" BY EMINEM PLAYS AND THE TANDEM OF CARNEY AND TURRICAN COMES OUT TO A GREAT POP TO START THE SHOW. Cole: "And we're jumpin' right into the action with titles on the line! Here comes the challengers"! TURRICAN IS DANCING TO THE BEAT AND CARNEY IS TRYING TO GET HIM TO BE SERIOUS. HTM: "Well allow me to take this chance to point out the fact that the TWF Tag Team titles have never changed hands at this event.... never mind the fact that these two guys have only had what, one match together"? THE MUSIC OF THE UNITED NATIONS COMES ON AND PAUL BURCHILL COMES OUT ALONG WITH HARRY SMITH TO NOTHING BUT BOOS. Cole: "So you give them no chance to win tonight"? HTM: "No.... not at all". Cole: "Well it's very obvious that something is missing for Burchill and Smith and that would be Katie Lea who is preparing for a big match herself as she will face Gina Carano later tonight". HTM: "I just want to say, for those of you sitting at home saying to yourselves, what happened to tag team wrestling? Watch this match and keep you eyes on Burchill and Harry Smith. I mean, they're no Rhythm and Blues, but they're pretty damn good". TWF Tag Team Title Match Challengers: Carney and Turrican vs. United Nations- Paul Burchill and Harry Smith Referee Marty Elias held up the titles as the two teams stared across the ring from one another, discussing strategy. Burchill decided to start things off with the unpredictable Turrican, and that proved to be a terrible matchup for the Englishman. After missing with several swinging right hands, Burchill was faced with several kicks from Turrican. He finally caught one of his legs only for Turrican to use a reverse enziguri to get free. After striking with a basement dropkick, Turrican landed a standing moonsault before making the switch to Carney. Turrican stayed in the ring and he and Carney shot Burchill to the ropes, hitting a double dropkick. Smith tried to come in from behind but Carney was waiting with a big wheel kick that knocked him out of the ring. Burchill got up and charged across the ring, only to have Carney pull down the top rope and he went sailing to the floor. The crowd loudly applauded the quick start by the challengers, but they didn't stop there. As the U.N. huddled together trying to regroup, both Carney and Turrican came flying over the top rope with attacks, Carney a corkscrew and Turrican an Asai moonsault. Burchill was rolled back into the ring and Carney shot himself from the apron over the top rope and onto Burchill with a legdrop. He then went into the cover and got the 1........2......., but Burchill got his left shoulder off the mat. Carney waited for Burchill to get his feet and then pulled him back to his corner, slapping the hand of Turrican. As Carney held Burchill, Turrican went to the top rope but Burchill came up with a nice move out of desperation, using his left arm to swing Carney into the ring ropes which knocked Turrican down and crotched him on the top rope. Burchill then went and made the much needed tag to his partner and Smith came in and slowed the pace down dramatically. He started by suplexing Turrican off the top rope and then locked him in a reverse chin lock. Turrican seemed to be fading away and Elias moved in to check his arms. The right arm dropped once but on the second attempt, he held it up as the crowd cheered. Smith released the hold and began to stomp on the upper body of Turrican. After a big body slam, Burchill got back into the match. He used the same slow, plodding style to wear down Turrican, clearly taking him off his game. But after a couple minutes of this, Burchill whipped him to the ropes and pushed him into the air only to have Turrican dropkick him on the way down. Turrican got up and began to do some sort of weird dance before tagging in Carney. The place was rockin' as Carney came in and was all over Burchill, even catching him with a powerslam off an irish whip. But when he went for the cover, Smith came in to stop the count. Turrican came into the ring and superkicked Smith, knocking him over the top rope! Carney then went to the top rope as Burchill slowly got to his feet. Turrican was positioned in the other corner and he ran at Burchill only to be thrown over his head and somehow, Turrican landed on the top rope with Carney! The fans lost it when both men flew off the top rope at the same time, taking out Burchill! Carney then went to the top turnbuckle again, ready to deliver the C-Bomb, but Smith was able to get up and yank him off the top by his right foot. On the way down, Carney smacked the steel ring steps head first! Smith rolled Carney back into the ring before getting in himself and drilling Turrican with a clothesline. This left Burchill to pick up the pieces and he used his "Twisted Sister" finisher on Carney to get the victory. Match Time: 8:15 HTM: "Now that's how it's done! What teamwork"! Cole: "I'm still trying to catch my breath as I'm sure a lot of these folks in St. Louis are! That was an amazing series of events but you called it partner, Burchill and Smith retain the gold"! BURCHILL AND SMITH LEAVE THE RING TOGETHER TO NOTHING BUT BOOS WHILE THEIR MUSIC PLAYS. MEANWHILE, TURRICAN HELPS HIS PARTNER TO HIS FEET IN THE RING. HTM: "I've said it before and I'll say it again.... this is the best tag team we've seen come through the pipes in a long time"! Cole: "Well if I was either of them, I'd consider myself very lucky to have escaped this one tonight"! BACKSTAGE AREA....... IN THE BACK, LENA YADA IS STANDING WITH THE YARD BOSS, WHO IS DRESSED IN A PAIR OF RAGGEDY JEANS AND A WHITE WIFEBEATER. Lena Yada: "Uh..... Yard Boss"? Yard Boss: "That's what they call me, but you can call me something....... Lena Yada: "Okay, let's don't even go there. Coming up later tonight, the Dockland Destroyer will face Nails in, of all things, a Hardcore rules match. First, let's take a look at this". A VIDEO PACKAGE STARTS UP, ACCOMPANIED BY SLIPKNOT's "LEFT BEHIND". IT FIRST SHOWS A HOCKEY MASK WHICH SUDDENLY STARTS TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL AS A MANIACAL LAUGH FOLLOWS. NAILS IS THEN SHOWN DEFEATING NUKE TO WIN HIS FIRST HARDCORE TITLE BEFORE IT SHOWS A CLIP OF HIM DEFEATING DYLAN JANSENS TO WIN THE TITLE AGAIN. UP NEXT, IT SHOWS NAILS USING A TOP ROPE POWERBOMB TO DEFEAT SABU AT WRESTLEMANIA 3 AND FINALLY, NAILS' TWF RETURN AT WRESTLEMANIA 9 IS SHOWN, WHERE HE ASSAULTED NOT ONLY EDDIE SAINT JAMES, BUT MONICA AS WELL. THE SHOT RETURNS LIVE AND THE YARD BOSS IS JUST LAUGHING. Yard Boss: "You think that..... is supposed to scare us"? HE LAUGHS AGAIN BEFORE WALKING AWAY. "LISTEN...... IT's TIME" IS HEARD AND GREGORY HELMS MAKES HIS WAY OUT FROM THE BACK, HAND IN HAND WITH TALIA. THE LIGHTHEAVYWEIGHT TITLE BELT GLISTENS FROM AROUND HIS WAIST. Cole: "Right back to the action here and another title is about to be decided but getting back to what we just saw, that's some serious stuff from Nails. If you ask me, the Yard Boss is barking up the wrong tree here". HTM: "I don't know, the Yard Boss is a little too weird for me, but he may know something about this Dockland Destroyer that no one else does". Cole: "You know what else no one knows? Who will be the opponent of Gregory Helms here?! He's about to defend the Lightheavyweight title.... and he has no idea who is coming out"! A NEW, NEVER BEFORE HEARD ENTRANCE TUNE COMES ON AND A VERY YOUNG MAN, SMALL IN STATURE TROTS OUT. THOSE WHO RECOGNIZE HIM IMMEDIATELY CHEER. Cole: "Hey! I know who this guy is! That's Evan Bourne"! HTM: "I've heard a lot about this guy, but I've never seen him! What is he, five feet tall"? Cole: "Well Gregory Helms seems to know something about him. His eyes haven't moved off the man who is the apparent challenger for the Lightheavyweight title"! TWF Lightheavyweight Title Match Challenger: Evan Bourne vs. Gregory Helms The match started and Bourne ran right at Helms, ducking a clothesline before springing off the ring ropes for a back elbow. Helms got up and backed into the corner as Bourne came at him with several kicks to the kidney area on each side before landing a spinning jump kick right to the jaw. Bourne then ran up the turnbuckle and landed a reverse crossbody to get a near fall. Helms pushed him off and caught him with a kick to the gut but when he went for a reverse DDT, Bourne jabbed him in the ribs to break free before catching him with an amazing Pele kick. Talia knew her man was in a lot of trouble and she got on the apron long enough to run distraction as Helms came from behind with a shot to the back and this time, he did score with the reverse DDT drop. Helms then grabbed the top ring rope with both hands and put his knee across the back of the head of Bourne, choking him on the middle rope. Helms then pulled him up and whipped him across the ring but Bourne used a flying headscissor to throw him into the corner. Bourne then ran in but Helms was waiting with a foot right to the face. Helms then lifted himself to the top rope but before he could do anything, Bourne jumped up and took him off with an incredible Frankensteiner! The crowd was on their feet as the challenger went to the top rope and flew off with a shooting star press, landing hard on Helms and hooking the inside leg for the 1.........2.........3! Match Time: 5:37 Cole: "Oh my...... he must've come down from nearly fifteen feet in the air"! HTM: "This is travesty! I hope Shane McMahon is happy"! EVAN BOURNE's MUSIC HIT AND THE CROWD WAS ON FIRE AS HE WAS HANDED THE GOLD. TALIA COVERED HER FACE WITH BOTH HANDS AND SHE COULDN'T EVEN BEAR TO WATCH. Cole: "We have a new TWF Lightheavyweight champion and I think this was clearly a case of Gregory Helms allowing his mouth to write checks he couldn't cash"! HTM: "Gregory Helms has all the tools, Cole! He just needs a little more discipline and he will be a top notch superstar"! Cole: "Well this night belongs to Evan Bourne at this point! What a performance"!
BACKSTAGE........ CAMERAS IN THE BACK SHOW A FOCUSED GINA CARANO GETTING READY FOR HER MATCH, DOING SOME SHADOWBOXING. Cole: "There you see Gina Carano who will face Katie Lea later tonight but up next, it's time to get hardcore, partner". HTM: "It's gonna be a war at War in the Winter here but take a look at some of the celebrities we have on hand here tonight". CAMERAS GET A SHOT OF TORRY HOLT AND STEVEN JACKSON OF THE ST. LOUIS RAMS AND THE FANS LOUDLY CHEER FOR THEM. HTM: "Look, there's a couple of guys who don't have much to celebrate, but they're in the right place tonight". ACTOR MICKEY ROURKE IS THEN SPOTTED IN THE CROWD AND HE WAVES TO THE CAMERA. Cole: "And look at this..... Mickey Rourke.... star of The Wrestler! Have ya seen it"? HTM: "Not yet, but I hear good things about it". Cole: "You've gotta check it out, Mickey Rourke as Randy the Ram is great"! "BULLS ON PARADE" BY RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE COMES ON AND THE DOCKLAND DESTROYER SLOWLY STEPS OUT FROM THE BACK TO NO REAL REACTION AT ALL. HE IS LED BY THE YARD BOSS, WHO IS CARRYING SOME SORT OF ANCHORED ROPE WITH HIM. HTM: "Well I'll go out on a limb here and say Mickey Rourke doesn't want anything to do with either of the guys we're about to see go at it here". Cole: "This match right here is what this event is all about.... it truly will be a war between these two men"! "LEFT BEHIND" BY SLIPKNOT COMES ON AND A LAUGH FILTERS INTO THE ARENA AS NAILS MAKES HIS WAY OUT TO A PRETTY BIG CHEER. HE IS PUSHING A TRASH CAN FULL OF WEAPONS DOWN THE RAMP. HTM: "The Dockland Destroyer has a chance to put his stamp on the TWF forever here". Cole: "Yeah, but he had to have seen that video shown earlier. Did that mean anything to him?! This man here lives for this kinda thing"! NAILS PULLS A CHAINSAW OUT OF THE TRASH CAN AND RIPS THE CORD, STARTING IT UP AS SEVERAL NEARBY FANS SHREAK IN FEAR. HTM: "This isn't a horror movie, get that chainsaw away from this fool! See, this is my problem with Nails! He has taken a profession that guys like myself, Greg Valetine, Ric Flair and so many others worked our asses off to make legit and he is out here with this ridiculous carnival act"! Cole: "These fans seem to like it! They're ready for a fight"! Cole: "Yeah, but most of these fans probably passed the two drink minimum before the show even started"! Hardcore Rules Dockland Destroyer w/ The Yard Boss vs. Nails Nails reached back into the trash can and pulled out a small baseball bat as the bell sounded. He slid under the bottom rope into the ring but showing no fear, Dockland Destroyer came right at him, stomping right on the back of his head. After ramming Nails' head into the mat numerous times, DD used his right hand to choke him, not paying any attention to referee Mike Enos. DD pulled him up and delivered a sitout spinebuster before going outside the ring to the trash can. He tipped it over, spilling it's contents and the first thing he found was a cookie sheet. He brought that into the ring and smacked Nails over the head with it but Nails didn't move an inch, instead popping him with a right hand. After a huge knee to the gut, Nails grabbed the Dockland Destroyer by the back of the head and threw him over the top rope. He went outside with him and grabbed one of the tv monitors from the announce table. The Yard Boss made his way over but Nails threatened to hit him with it before hitting DD instead, knocking him over the barricade and into the crowd. Nails then reached under the ring apron and pulled out a ladder which he took into the ring and wedged in between the top and middle turnbuckles so the top of the ladder was protruding into the ring. Nails went back outside the ring and into the crowd where he proceeded to pound away on the Destroyer. But the Yard Boss followed into the crowd as well and he actually took a crutch from a fan and smacked Nails across the back with it. Nails turned around, staring at the elder man through his hockey mask. He began to approach him, but the Destroyer came from behind with a hard shot. After throwing Nails back over the other side of the barricade, DD came back in as well and delivered a big belly to belly suplex. He then reached under the ring and pulled out a barbed wire 2x4. After tossing the weapon into the ring, the Destroyer made an unwise move, rolling Nails into the ring. He followed him in, but Nails was waiting with a punch to the gut. He then ran the ropes and kicked DD right in the side of the head before snatching the 2x4. Nails then reached into one of his pockets and pulled out a book of matches, taking one out and striking it across his boot. The fans loudly cheered as he set fire to the 2x4, which was now an even deadlier weapon. The Dockland Destroyer seemed petrified of the flames, dropping to the mat to avoid the swing of the 2x4 before rolling out of the ring. The Yard Boss got on the apron to create a distraction as the Destroyer came back in from behind on Nails, knocking the 2x4 out of his hand. A couple members of the stagecrew then ran down the ramp and doused the 2x4 with a fire extinguisher. In the ring, DD dropped Nails across his knee with a hard backbreaker before pulling him up and attempting an irish whip. But Nails reversed it and 3 steps later, DD hit the ladder face first, sending a disturbing thud through the Scottrade Center. From there, Nails smelled blood and it was pouring from the face of the Dockland Destroyer. Nails pulled him up and hoisted him onto his shoulder before delivering the "Nail Driver" into a cover for the 1...........2..........3. Match Time: 10:17 Cole: "Oh my...... I think the Dockland Destroyer may be missing a few teeth after that! Wow"! HTM: "Wait, here comes the Yard Boss"! AS NAILS TRIED TO LEAVE THE RING, THE YARD BOSS JUMPED ON HIS SHOULDERS, WRAPPING HIS ARMS AROUND NAILS' THROAT. NAILS TRIED TO SHAKE HIM OFF BUT THE DOCKLAND DESTROYER HAD GOTTEN HOLD OF THE ANCHOR AND ROPE AND HE HIT NAILS RIGHT IN THE CENTER OF THE HOCKEY MASK WITH IT. FROM THERE, HE WRAPPED THE ROPE AROUND NAILS' THROAT AND THREW HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE! Cole: "Somebody come out and stop this! Nails is being hung"! IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG FOR OFFICIALS TO COME OUT AND STOP THE MADNESS, FORCING THE YARD BOSS AND A BLOODY DOCKLAND DESTROYER TO THE BACK AS THE FANS BOOED. THEY QUICKLY REMOVED THE ROPE FROM THE THROAT OF NAILS. HTM: "We've always considered Nails to be certifiably insane..... but we might be able to add the Dockland Destroyer to that category now too"! Cole: "Well Nails is the winner of this match, but Dockland Destroyer and that pesky Yard Boss just raised the stakes to a whole new level. I shudder to think of what the hockey masked freak's reaction is gonna be to this". BACKSTAGE AREA...... IN THE BACK, LENA YADA IS STANDING BY WITH TITO ORTIZ. MOST OF THE FANS BOO AT HIS SIGHT. Lena Yada: "Tito Ortiz, up next, Gina Carano will have her first match on pay-per-view, but you're not gonna be at ringside supporting her"? Tito Ortiz: "No, I'm not. And before you ask why, I'll just say that I don't agree with it. A lot of people wouldn't even know Gina Carano's name if it wasn't for me. I didn't agree with the open contract, I didn't agree with a match here at this event". Lena: "But she's been so successful so far". Tito Ortiz: "She has, but she still needs to refine her skills. All she's worried about is what all of her fans want to see. I told her straight out, it doesn't matter what these people want to see! Gina has gotten herself into this match tonight so there's nothing I can do about it, but from now on, Gina's matches all need to be cleared through me. It's about doing this the right when and then...... then maybe she'll be as good as everyone would like to think she is". THE SHOT GOES BACK OUT TO THE ARENA WHERE KATIE LEA IS APPROACHING THE RING TO SOME HASTY BOOS. HTM: "My, my, does Katie look lovely tonight or what"? Cole: "Action between two of the PrimeTime divas here folks and this one should be interesting. Katie Lea is obviously not intimidated by Gina Carano's quick start in the TWF or her background in mixed martial arts". "TEARS DON'T FALL" BY BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE STIRS UP AND GINA CARANO STEPS OUT TO A MASSIVE POP. HTM: "No she's not.... she put her name right on Carano's open contract! Tonight, Ms. Carano's cockiness is going to catch up to her"! Cole: "Listen to the reaction for Gina Carano who will be making her first ever appearance on a TWF pay-per-view"! HTM: "Just think clearly, Katie.... you're a much better wrestler than she is". Katie Lea vs. Gina Carano The bell sounded to start things and Carano offered a handshake but Katie blew her off. The two ladies locked up and in a collar and elbow tie and Gina seemed the stronger of the two, pushing Katie around the ring. But Katie stomped on the right foot of Carano which caused a seperation before blasting her with 2 forearms to the face. Katie then locked in a chin lock while driving one of her knees into Carano's back. Back on their feet, Katie used a go behind and went for a backdrop suplex but Gina flipped off her shoulders, landing on her feet. Gina then threw a roundhouse kick that would've been lights out but Katie avoided it at the last second and backed away as the crowd let out a collective "Ooooooh". Gina put her hands up and moved in on Katie, the same way she would in an MMA fight. Katie was lost trying to defend herself as Gina struck her with several kicks and a right hand to the head. Gina then used a beautiful armbar takedown and she had Katie in a world of trouble. Out of sheer desperation, Katie swung her left leg to the bottom ring rope to earn a break. Gina released the hold and waited for her to get up, moving back in on her when she did. After several more stiff kicks, she whipped Katie to the corner and followed in with an incredible spinning wheel kick that caught her across the upper chest and throat area. But suddenly, Gina became distracted by the presence of Tito Ortiz, who walked down the ramp applauding. Gina began to ask him what he was doing, saying, "I thought you didn't want to be here". Gina turned her attention back to Katie and whipped her to the corner again. But Tito yelled "Gina" which caused her to turn around again. He seemed to be giving her some pointers, telling her to use some sort of move when Katie Lea ran up from behind and rolled her up to get the 1........2.........3! Match Time: 7:06 Cole: "No way"! HTM: "It's over! All this hype about Gina Carano is over"! Cole: "Yeah, thanks to Tito Ortiz, the guy who is supposed to be helping her! The guy who calls himself her business manager"! KATIE LEA LEFT TO THE MUSIC OF THE U.N. AND THE CROWD BOOED AS TITO ORTIZ CAME INTO THE RING TO TALK TO A DISTRAUGHT GINA CARANO. Cole: "Gina is obviously very disappointed in this defeat, but I think she can hold her head up high.... she had this match in the bag". HTM: "See and that's where I disagree again. Maybe Gina Carano is just not cut out to do this"? ORTIZ WALKED UP THE RAMP ALONG WITH GINA CARANO, TRYING TO EXPLAIN WHAT HE WAS DOING. BACKSTAGE.... DRESSING ROOM AREA....... SCOTT STEINER IS SHOWN SITTING IN A DRESSING ROOM WHEN CHERRY WALKS OUT FROM BEHIND A CHANGING WALL. SHE IS WEARING A TIGHT BLACK OUTFIT THAT SHE IS PRETTY MUCH BUSTING OUT OF. Scott Steiner: "Yeahhhhhhhh..... that's what I'm talkin' about! This may be the last time you come to the ring as my valet and if it is.... you're damn sure gonna look good doin' it. But who knows, it might be your lucky night..... and I win the match". STEINER LAUGHS AND PUTS HIS ARM AROUND CHERRY. SHE LOOKS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AS THEY LEAVE THE ROOM TOGETHER. THE SHOT THEN GOES TO AN UNKNOWN LOCATION WHERE SAMAIEL IS WALKING THROUGH A DARK BUILDING, CARRYING A LANTERN. HE WALKS SLOWLY, CHECKING HIS BLIND SPOTS EVERY SO OFTEN. Samaiel: "You're in here...... I can smell you". SAMAIEL CONTINUES WALKING WHEN THE LIGHTS IN THE BUILDING COME ON. HE LOOKS AROUND IN ALL DIRECTIONS, ALMOST IN A PANIC AS HE DROPS THE LANTERN. CHAOS WOLF THEN APPEARS BEHIND HIM, HOLDING WHAT APPEARS TO BE A CROWBAR. SAMAIEL TURNS JUST IN TIME TO AVOID WOLF SWINGING THE WEAPON AT HIM AND THE FIGHT IS ON. House of Horrors Samaiel vs. Chaos Wolf Across the street from the arena sat an old auto mechanic's shop, right next to the Federal building on Spruce street. This was the location for the House of Horrors. It seemed as though Wolf had been in there for hours, arranging it just as he wanted and he slammed Samaiel into everything in sight. An old Volkswaggen Beetle sat with it's hood open and Wolf tried to crush his head inside it, but Samaiel got free and kicked Wolf in the groin before throwing him into the vehicle. He then grabbed his lantern and hit Wolf right over the head with it. All the way across the building, probably a good 100 feet, was the door both men needed to exit from in order to win. Samaiel began to make his way towards the door, but Wolf found an open toolbox and began flinging several heavy duty tools Samaiel's way. A wrench and a pair of pliers came flying at Samaiel, fortunately missing him. But Wolf got up with a head of steam and let out a yell, charging Samaiel and grabbing him, lifting him up off the floor before driving him into several sheets of drywall. Wolf then stomped viciously on the head and back of Samaiel before picking him up and ramming him into another parked car. Samaiel was clearly in pain, but he was able to find a can of paint and as Wolf approached him, he threw the paint right in his face! Wolf's entire upper body was covered in a dark greyish paint and Samaiel then took the empty paint can and smacked him across the head with it. Samaiel again went for the door but Wolf got up, paint dripping from his hair, face and chest. He went after Samaiel and got him before he could reach the door, tripping him up on the dirty cement floor. The fight continued and both men were exhausted, beaten and bruised. Wolf delivered a backdrop suplex onto a stack of wooden crates before laying Samaiel across the hood of an old Ford pickup. There was some sort of scaffold near by which Wolf used a ladder to climb up on the top of. Peering down, Wolf jumped off the scaffold, which was at least 10-12 feet off the ground. But Samaiel rolled off the hood just in time and Wolf smashed the hood very hard! The crowd watching couldn't believe their eyes at the risk Chaos Wolf took. Samaiel slowly got to his feet, looking over at Wolf who was barely moving. Samaiel, stumbling across the room, was able to get to the exit door. He opened it and walked out of the building, slamming the door shut behind him! Match Time: 14:57 THE SHOT WENT BACK TO THE BROADCAST POSITION INSIDE THE SCOTTRADE CENTER WHERE BOTH MICHAEL COLE AND THE HONKY TONK MAN SEEMED AT A LOSS FOR WORDS. Cole: "I don't.... I don't even know what to say about what we just saw". HTM: "That was.... that was bad". Cole: "We've seen a few of those House of Horror matches over the years and they're never pretty. Samaiel comes out victorious, but I think it's safe to say that neither man will ever be the same". BACKSTAGE...... THE SHOT GOES TO THE BACK WHERE LENA YADA IS STANDING BY WITH JOE COREY. THE FANS IMMEDIATELY BEGIN TO BOO. Lena Yada: "Mr. Corey, tonight, you will face John Cena to determine the number one contender for the Universal title, but you will do it without Paul Heyman in your corner. Can you tell us all why you turned on him on the last PrimeTime"? Joe Corey: "Wasn't it obvious? I was paying that man, a so called wrestling genius, a ton of money to do one simple thing...... make sure I was the number one guy in the TWF. I made it very clear that I was not going to wrestle anyone, anywhere in the world, unless it was for the Universal title. But thanks to Paul Heyman and his stupid blunder, I have to face that punk John Cena tonight. I don't need Paul Heyman to look after me..... I don't need Paul Heyman to beat guys like John Cena! So Heyman can just go do something else with his time. Maybe start up another wrestling promotion in a bingo hall! But if you'll excuse me.......... COREY BRUSHES RIGHT PAST LENA AND THE SHOT GOES BACK TO RINGSIDE. A LOUD SIREN IS HEARD FOLLOWED BY THE WORDS "HOLLER IF YA HEAR ME" AND SCOTT STEINER COMES OUT TO SOME MAJOR HEAT ALONG WITH CHERRY WHO IS STILL WEARING THE SKIMPY OUTFIT AND LOOKS VERY UNHAPPY. Cole: "Is this the last time we'll have to watch Cherry walk down the aisle with Scott Steiner? For her sake, I hope so". HTM: "Oh you would say that, Michael. Who knows where she'd be if Steiner wasn't nice enough to let her be his valet". THE CROWD GOES WILD WHEN "THIS FIRE BURNS" BY KILLSWITCH ENGAGE COMES ON AND CM PUNK IS OUT TO A ROAR. HE HAS SOME SORT OF ARTICLE OF CLOTHING WITH HIM. Cole: "Cherry will be in a nuetral corner for this match but I can tell ya right now who she's rooting for". HTM: "Well if CM Punk wins this match, he better be ready to take care of Cherry because she's not gonna have a job anymore! She'll be like half this country these days..... not working"! Scott Steiner vs. CM Punk * Cherry in nuetral corner As the match started, Steiner seemed to be begging Punk to try and match strength with him. But Punk had a gameplan and it was clearly to stay away from that. He was able to use his quickness to consistently elude Steiner, catching him with kicks to the body when he could. Finally, Steiner got frustrated and started swinging wildly but Punk caught him with a spinning backhand right in the mouth before whacking him with a round kick to the head. Steiner backed up against the ropes and Punk clotheslined him over the top and to the floor. As Steiner tried to regroup, Punk hit the far ropes inside the ring and ran all the way across, launching himself through the top and middle ring ropes. But Steiner moved out of the way and Punk just hit the floor with all his momentum. From there, Big Poppa Pump picked him up and drove him back first into the steel ring post. He then picked Punk up in a gorilla press and threw him back into the ring that way! Steiner got back into the ring and dropped a huge elbow across the chest of Punk. After doing 5 push-ups, he went for the cover but Punk was free at 2. Steiner clearly wanted to slow things down and using his sizeable strength advantage, he did just that, keeping Punk on the mat for the next 3 minutes. The crowd began to get restless as Punk couldn't do anything to move the big man. Finally, Steiner tried to go for the "Steiner Recliner" and Punk rolled to his back, catching him with an up kick right to the mouth. Punk got up and ducked a big clothesline before hitting the ropes and nailing Steiner with a flying calf kick. After shooting Steiner to the corner, he flew in with a flying knee right to the jaw of Steiner. The impact sent an echo through the arena. Punk then hit a jumping bulldog and rolled Steiner over for the 1.........2.........., but Steiner was up. Steiner got to his feet and Punk grabbed him for the Urinagi. But Steiner delivered an elbow to the side of his head which led to a full nelson slam from Steiner. Steiner grabbed Punk by the hair and began trash talking the crowd. But when he tried to get Punk up for a suplex, Punk blocked it and showed incredible heart and determination, getting Steiner up on his shoulders and delivering the "Go to Sleep" out of nowhere. Steiner was seeing stars as he hit the mat and Punk fell into the cover for the 1..........2.........3! Match Time: 7:43 Cole: "GTS.... Go to Sleep! Steiner is out"! HTM: "Give CM Punk some credit, that was not an easy win". CHERRY GOT INTO THE RING AS PUNK ASKED FOR THE ITEM OF CLOTHING HE CAME TO THE RING WITH IT. HE UNRAVELED IT AND IT WAS A LONG COAT WHICH HE PLACED OVER CHERRY. THE CROWD CHEERED AS "THIS FIRE BURNS" CAME ON AGAIN. Cole: "See, now that's what a real man would do..... take some notes here, partner". JUST THEN, CHERRY THREW THE COAT OFF HER SHOULDERS AND DROPPED DOWN, LOWBLOWING PUNK! HE LOOKED AT HER IN SHOCK AS HE FELL TO HIS KNEES. THE CROWD COULDN'T BELIEVE IT, BOOING AS SHE LEFT THE RING, NOT LOOKING BACK. HTM: "And that's what a real woman would do"! (laughs) Cole: "What the...... why would Cherry do that after everything CM Punk just went through to stand up for her"?! HTM: "That's why you'll never understand women, Cole...... they're just to hard to figure out"! Cole: "I'm in..... total disbelief". BACKSTAGE....... IN THE BACK, EDGE IS TALKING WITH ALDO CORLEONE AND HE SEEMS VERY FRUSTRATED. Edge: "The plan was simple..... the directions were easy. Take Damion West out and make sure he doesn't get to War in the Winter! (Edge gets in his face) What part of that did I not make clear"?! EDGE STARTS TO WALK OFF, BUT GRABS A NEARBY FOLDING CHAIR AND SMASHES ALDO CORLEONE OVER THE HEAD, KNOCKING HIM TO THE FLOOR! Edge: "This is why..... from now on...... I don't need any allies....... I do things myself"! EDGE TOSSES THE CHAIR ASIDE BEFORE WALKING AWAY. BACK TO THE RING, "MISERIA CANTARE" KICKS UP AND JOE COREY MAKES HIS WAY OUT FROM THE BACKSTAGE AREA FOR THE FIRST TIME IN QUITE AWHILE. Cole: "For Joe Corey, there's no more ECW entrance and there's no more Paul Heyman". HTM: "Well let's face it, Michael, this man made ECW what it was in the TWF, he had every right to be the man who put it in the ground". Cole: "Corey has an obsession with becoming the Universal champion, but he has to get through at least one more obstacle before he gets his chance and tonight, that obstacle is John Cena". "MY TIME IS NOW" COMES ON AND A MIX OF BOOS AND CHEERS BOOM THROUGH THE ARENA AS JOHN CENA COMES OUT WITH HIS USUAL LOOK OF CONFIDENCE. AFTER SALUTING, HE HEADS DOWN THE RAMP. HTM: "And if you ask me, I think he will. Joe Corey is in top physical condition and he will win this match". Cole: "And Cena's not? Look at this guy! Besides, Corey didn't even want this match"! HTM: "It's called psychology, Michael..... filling your opponents' head with thoughts. Do you really think Joe Corey doesn't want this match"?! Cole: "He sure made it seem that way, but whether he does or not.... he's got it". #1 Contender for Universal Title "The Show" Joe Corey vs. John Cena The bell sounded to start the match and referee Charles Robinson stood ready to call the action. The two men tentatively circled one another, looking for an opening. They then locked up in a collar and elbow tie and after some struggling for position, Corey was able to take a go behind into a standing waistlock before slapping Cena in the back of the head. Cena turned and threw a right hand but Corey blocked it and kicked him in the abdomen. He then ran at him but Cena used a drop toehold to set up the STF-U! The crowd was stunned as Cena had the hooks in in the center of the ring. Corey was trying to fight out of it, but Cena was pulling on it with all his might. Despite that, Corey willed himself to the ring ropes and was able to stretch out and grab the bottom one to earn a break. Cena released the hold and allowed Corey to get up, but when he did, Cena grabbed his right hand and whipped him to the ropes. But he dropped his head a little too soon and Corey made him pay by grabbing him and slamming the back of his head hard into the mat. From there, Corey relentlessly went to work on the lower back, using the base of his right knee to put pressure on the lower lumbar region. Cena was able to get up, but Corey punched him multiple times in the kidneys. He then ran the ropes but Cena got him up on his shoulders, only to drop to his knees as the pain in his back was too much. Corey stayed focused on the back and after a pendulum backbreaker, he rolled Cena over and slapped on The Cage. Just like moments ago, Cena was in the middle of the ring, only this time he had the hold applied on him. Cena was clearly in pain, but incredibly, he fought the hold. Corey ripped back on it to add pressure, but as he let out a loud yell, Cena pushed his legs out of Corey's grasp, breaking the hold. Corey went for an elbow drop and missed as Cena rolled out of the way. When Corey got up, Cena flew at him with a flying shoulder tackle that found the mark. After delivering his sidewinder slam, Cena stood over Corey and the fans knew what was coming...... the 5 Knuckle Shuffle! Both boos and cheers loudly followed as Cena ran the ropes, brushed off his shoulder and tried to drop the fist, but Corey got up and punched him hard right in the stomach. After delivering a big DDT, Corey pulled Cena to his feet and was ready to deliver the "Showstopper". But somehow, even with his arms behind his back, Cena was able to block the move and use his uncanny strength to get Corey up on his shoulders! With his hands now free, Cena completed the "F-U", falling onto Corey for the victory as Robinson completed the 3 count. Match Time: 5:19 Cole: "Wow! Can you believe that?! I don't even know what to say about that"! HTM: "That was freakish strength, Michael! And I don't think anyone is more surprised than Corey.... he had him beat"! "MY TIME IS NOW" PLAYED AGAIN AS CENA STOOD IN THE RING, BASKING IN THE WIN AS COREY ROLLED OUT, HOLDING THE BACK OF HIS HEAD BUT STARING AT CENA IN UTTER DISBELIEF. Cole: "John Cena has just earned himself another chance to become Universal champ with an incredible win"! HTM: "Well don't just assume that Joe Corey is out of the title picture now! Cena will get his shot but Corey will have a close eye on it"! BACKSTAGE........ MARK HENRY IS SHOWN WALKING THROUGH THE BACKSTAGE AREA, ON HIS WAY TO THE RING WHEN HE COMES ACROSS TWO SOMEWHAT UNFAMILIAR FACES TALKING. Mark Henry: "Who the hell are you guys"? Ray Gordy: "Oh.... I'm Ray Gordy and this here is The Kid..... we're both in the New Year's battle royal tonight". The Kid: "Yeah, we're from Asylum". Henry: "The Kid? That's your name"? The Kid: "Yep.... that's what they call me". Henry: "Heh.... no wonder you're not in the big leagues". Gordy: "Well I can tell ya this right now.... if either one of us wins that battle royal tonight, we'll both be on the main TWF roster.... as will several other guys from Asylum". HENRY LOOKS AT BOTH MEN AND STARTS LAUGHING BEFORE JUST WALKING AWAY. Cole: "Well fans up next is the traditional New Year's battle royal, a match that has become a staple here at War in the Winter. Let's go back and take a look at exactly what it has brought over the years". A VIDEO PACKAGE BEGINS TO PLAY AND STARTS WITH SAM WILDE WINNING THE FIRST EVER NEW YEAR's BATTLE ROYAL AND THEN USING HIS "RESOLUTION" TO BRING BACK DISMISSED TWF COMMISSIONER ROWDY RODDY PIPER. FROM THERE, BATISTA IS SHOWN ELIMINATING RHYNO FOLLOWED BY DYLAN JANSENS' WIN IN THE EVENT. FINALLY, A SHOT OF MIKE AUSTIN IS SHOWN, RIGHT AFTER HE LAST ELIMINATED HEIDENREICH BEFORE CELEBRATING HIS BATTLE ROYAL WIN WITH NONE OTHER THAN RIC FLAIR. Cole: "So as you can see, the battle royal has provided a wide erray of winners over the years and this year, that ring will be packed with fifteen superstars from PrimeTime but also Rampage and even the TWF's developmental territory, The Asylum". "SAVE ME" BY BURN HALO COMES ON AND JORDAN ROCKWELL COMES OUT TO A MONSTROUS CHEER WITH THE INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE STRAPPED AROUND HIS WAIST. THE RING IS FULL AND HE IS THE LAST MAN OUT. HTM: "I think everybody is out here, Michael.... we're ready to get underway! If Rockwell wins, maybe he can get himself some counseling"! Cole: "Keep in mind that the man who wins this match will be able to name his own New Year's resolution"! New Year's Battle Royal The bell sounded and the 15 men in the match went at it like a brawl in the street. Jordan Rockwell immediately sought out Mark Henry and with a lot of momentum and adrenaline flowing, he almost dumped the World's Strongest Man out. Henry hung on and then got a little help from Vladimir Kozlov who attacked the IC champ from behind. Meanwhile, Richard Ramsley and PJ Cash had formed some sort of union and they combined to beat down Matt Cruz, Ray Gordy and Taylor Made. The first elimination of the match came when Finlay threw The Kid out like he was nothing. Blade, still with a bone to pick with Finlay, jumped him from behind and tried to get him out, but Finlay fought him off. Meanwhile, Matt Cruz was eliminated by a clothesline from Matt Hardy but as Hardy stood looking down at Cruz, Ray Gordy came from behind and tossed him out! Gordy celebrated like he'd just become heavyweight champion only to catch a headbutt to the chest from Kozlov. Finlay then picked up the scraps and launched Gordy over the top, ending Asylum's threat to win. Finlay didn't stop there, pulling the top rope down on Kevin Thorn as he ran at him and that took him out. Still, the story of the match was the fight between Henry and Rockwell, who were at it tooth and nail. Austin Pyromania and Taylor Made stood across from the forged duo of Ramsley and PJ Cash and the 4 men began trading shots as Troy Gafgen had Blade close to elimination. Ramsley got Pyromania with a thumb to the eye but when he picked him up for a bodyslam, Pyro got free and dropkicked him in the back, sending him out of the ring. A few eliminations came in a huge spurt following that as Kozlov took out Pyromania and Gafgen was able to use a backbody drop to eliminate Cash. Gafgen turned around, only to catch a stiff right hand from Kozlov who picked him his legs, trying to muscle him out. But Gafgen held on for dear life on the apron and rolled under the bottom rope. He was then able to come up from between the legs of Kozlov, getting the big Russian onto his shoulders and sending him to the floor! Blade had somehow gained the services of Mark Henry and together, they were beating on Finlay. But after stomping on the foot of Henry, Finlay grabbed the shillelagh which he introduced to Blade once again, eliminating him. Finlay shouted something at Blade but Henry came from behind and clotheslined him in the back of the head, putting an end to the run of the fighting Irishman, who eliminated 4 superstars. Henry and Rockwell again engaged in battle as Gafgen and Taylor Made traded shots. Taylor ran the ropes after delivering a hip toss to Gafgen but Gafgen caught him and delivered a big swinging sideslam right as Henry dropped a massive elbow on Rockwell. Henry threw up his arms as if he won the match, but he let his guard down and Gafgen came from behind with a full head of steam and pushed him out of the ring! The crowd went wild as Gafgen got his second huge elimination of the match. We were now down to Gafgen, Rockwell and Taylor Made. The 3 men circled each other and it seemed no one wanted to make a fatal error. Finally, Rockwell went for it, grabbing a single leg on Gafgen but Taylor Made came from behind with an enziguri on the IC champ. He then pulled Rockwell up and tried to force him to the ropes, but Rockwell held his ground. Rockwell then actually lifted Taylor off the mat and set him on the apron before measuring him for his big running kick. But before he could do it, Gafgen grabbed him from behind and threw Rockwell out of the ring! Taylor Made quickly used the ropes to catch Gafgen with a springboard dropkick that knocked him all the way across the ring but when he moved in to try and get him out of the ring, Gafgen delivered a big double axe handle to the back of Taylor before grabbing him and heaving him over the top rope to win the match! Match Time: 11:12 Cole: "There it is! Troy Gafgen has won the New Year's Battle Royal"! HTM: "Well there's an unlikely winner..... I've never even heard of this guy"! "INSIDE THE FIRE" BY DISTURBED PLAYED AND GAFGEN BEGAN TO CELEBRATE THE WIN, SOMEWHAT IN SHOCK HIMSELF. Cole: "Well I'll bet you're not alone in that partner because for starters, he's on Rampage but listen to this...... PJ Cash........ Vladimir Kozlov....... Mark Henry..... Jordan Rockwell and Taylor Made, all eliminated by Troy Gafgen in this battle royal and guess what? People will have heard about him soon, especially after he names that resolution"! HTM: "Yeah, God only knows what that could be". Cole: "And that means we have reached main event time but fans, get ready, because we are also drawing near to our own main event, the same one we come to once a calendar year. Can you believe this is actually gonna be the tenth one"? A VIDEO PACKAGE PROMOTING WRESTLEMANIA 10, WHICH WILL BE HELD AT THE ROSE BOWL IN PASADENA, CALIFORNIA, COMES UP, SHOWING HIGHLIGHTS OF WRESTLEMANIA's FROM YEAR's PAST. AN ENGINE LOUDLY REVS BEFORE "STRONGER" BY KANYE WEST COMES ON AND HIGH OCTANE STEPS OUT TO A VERY FAVORABLE REACTION, HEADING TOWARDS THE RING. Cole: "WrestleMania 10 is just around the corner and who knows, the man who wins this match could be in the main event"! HTM: "It's a place both guys in this match have been before but that was before this guy got into all his problems". Cole: "Well let's not forget to mention that he's battled back from those. Damion West is a proud man who will admit his faults, no excuses. He did what he had to do to put it behind him and here he is, with a chance to once again wear TWF gold". BOOS BEGIN TO FLOW THROUGHOUT THE ARENA WHEN "METALINGUS" BY ALTER BRIDGE COMES ON AND EDGE STEPS OUT FROM THE BACK WITH THE TWF UNIVERSAL TITLE AROUND HIS WAIST, TUCKED UNDER HIS LONG TRENCH COAT. HTM: "Well tonight he faces a man who might not have any faults, especially in the ring"! Cole: "He faces a man who claims to be the best in the industry....... HTM: "And I happen to agree with him". Cole: "It can all change with the suddeness of one Head on Collision, partner". TWF Universal Title Match Challenger: "High Octane" Damion West vs. Edge The arena was buzzing as this match got underway and West was fired up as an "Octane" chant moved through the stands. They were set to lock up when Edge pulled back and asked referee Mike Chioda to check the challenger for foreign objects. The fans booed as Chioda gave West the pat down. After some more delay, they locked up and Octane quickly took Edge into a standing side headlock but Edge went towards the ropes and grabbed them, causing a break. He then complained of a hair pull by West and Chioda forced West to give the champion some space. The two men faced off again but as Octane moved in on him, Edge again stepped back for a time out and High Octane just cracked him with a right hand. He'd had enough of the head games Edge was trying to play and he was all over him with right hands in the corner. He then pulled Edge out and whipped him to the ropes before connecting with a big dropkick. West followed that up with a corkscrew legdrop before going to the top rope. But before he could take to the air, Edge did the only thing he could do, falling into the ring ropes to knock him off. Edge then grabbed West around the head and neck before climbing to the middle turnbuckle before suplexing him to the mat. Both men were down, but Edge managed to roll over onto West and get a 2 count. Edge pulled West to his feet and rocked him with 2 stiff jabs before shooting him to the corner and following in with a clothesline. Edge then whipped West back to the other side but he was able to jump up to the middle turnbuckle. He then used a head fake to get Edge to drop to the mat and when Edge got back up, West flew off with a reverse crossbody and he had Edge pinned for a 1........2......., but Edge pushed out. West got up and ran the ropes but Edge caught him with a kick right to the face. He then hit the ropes himself and went for the Spear but West moved out of the way and he hit the corner. West then connected with the superkick and the crowd was going crazy as he fell into the cover and got the 1............2......., but Edge got his foot on the bottom rope at the last possible moment! West couldn't believe it, but he stayed focused, waiting for Edge to get to his feet. When he did, he went for the "Head on Collision" again but Edge caught his foot and pushed him back. He then went for a clothesline which West ducked but he threw a right hand that Edge swatted away before grabbing him and pulling him to the mat with a sitdown facebuster. Edge got up, circling the challenger and West slowly got to his feet, trying to shake the cobwebs. He got to his feet and Edge went for the superkick, but he missed badly. After smashing the chest of Edge with 3 hard knifedge chops, West dropped the champion with a step up enziguri. Edge fell to one knee, grabbing the back of his head and he got up to see High Octane going for the spear but as he connected with it, Edge also hit an Impaler DDT in which he drove the head of West into the mat at a very nasty angle. West was face down on the mat and seemed to be unconcious as Edge rolled him over and hooked the leg to get the 3 count and retain the title. Match Time: 6:58 Cole: "What the heck happened? High Octane delivered a spear and now he's out"? HTM: "Look at the replay, Michael. Edge was lying in wait and he knocked him out with that DDT! That's what he gets for trying to use the man's move"! "METALINGUS" PLAYED AS EDGE STOOD ON ONE OF THE TURNBUCKLES, CELEBRATING THE WIN AS 95% OR MORE OF THE CROWD BOOED IN JEST. Cole: "A very abrupt end to War in the Winter here but Edge has overcome High Octane to retain the Universal title". HTM: "And now it's time to give credit where credit is due, Michael..... Edge once again retains the strap and now there's probably not anyone worthy to challenge him that he hasn't already beaten before"! Cole: "Edge is certainly the king of the mountain..... but there will be room for someone to emerge as his next challenger"!
