When Chris Kanyon(WCW Wrestler) was watching an Indy show Kidman was in, he sent a tape to Diamond Dallas Page, fellow WCW'er and best friend. DDP himself was so impressed he sent the tape to WCW boss Eric Bischoff, and Kidman signed a contract soon after.

His start in WCW was unspectacular, but he joined Raven's Flock in early 1998. He renamed his finishing move from The Shooting Star Press to The Seven Year Itch. Kidman was now a serious contender in the cruiserweight division.

When the Flock eventually squabbled, Saturn faced Raven at Fall Brawl that year to free the rest of the group. Kidman 'accidentally' gave Raven a missile dropkick from the top-rope to give Saturn the win.

The next day on NITRO, Kidman defeated Juventud Guerrera in a spectacular contest to grab his first World Cruiserweight title. He went on a two-month reign, beating almost every Cruiserweight, until Juvi won it back. After another 6 days, the two met again and Billy regained the belt. He went on another three-month stampede, until Rey Mysterio Jr returned and beat him on NITRO with a top-rope bulldog. When Rey needed help against the LWO, Kidman came to the rescue, and the two formed an alliance.

Rey and Kidman became a popular tag team and defeated Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko to win the Tag Team straps. They then fueded with Benoit/Malenko and Saturn/Raven.

After Rey and Konnan left the No Limit Soldiers, they formed The Filthy Animals with Kidman and Eddy Guerrero. Kidman and Konnan defeated Harlem Heat in October to win the Tag Belts, but lost them to Creative Control.

Kidman fueded with fellow animal Eddy Guerrero after an argument over Torrie, Kidman's girlfriend, but Eddy won on the 11.15 NITRO.

The group all made up just six weeks later. But when Guerrero left for the WWF and Rey and Konnan were out with injuries, it was up to Kidman to carry the load. He defeated Malenko and Perry Saturn at Souled Out 2000, but went down to The Wall in the final match of the Triple Threat Theater.

He then fueded with Vampiro, and beat him for the second time at Superbrawl in February.

When Bischoff and Russo returned to WCW, Kidman joined 'The New Blood' with the rest of the animals and began a top-line fued with Hulk Hogan. He lost to Hogan at Slamboree and The Great American Bash in May and June, and was booted from The Filthy Animals.

Kidman formed an alliance with Lance Storm, shortly before Storm transformed into a 'Anti-American' heel. When Torrie left him for Shane Douglas, they fueded but Kidman was defeated in a strap match at New Blood Rising in August.

Kidman was soon re-called to The Filthy Animals to replace Juventud Guerrera during the Australian Tour, and now with the animals face, they are moere popular than ever and a Cruiserweight Title reign looks certain soon.
