Memoirs of an E-fed Founder

I started the NICW way back in 1998. It was the Summer before I headed to college. I think it was actually in May that I started it. I remember it kinda coinciding with the time I was off school. Anyway how this thing all came about was I was a hardcore wrestling fan. Like big time hardcore. I'd call my friends and the first thing we'd talk about is what happened on Raw. Then we'd talk about pushes and ideas that the then WWF should incorporate.

Being the hardcore fan that I was I visitied many wrestling sites. The one I believe that started it was a site dedicated to WCW/NWO World Tour. It was there on the message board I started sharing my opinion with the fellow wrestling smarts and marks. I called my self "Capt.Canada". Why? Because I'm a patriotic fool. During this time I started looking in to the idea of e-feds. Don't know how this came about as I didn't really have a concept of what an e-fed was. I didn't really feel like joining one. I felt weird having to give my e-mail address and felt it'd be a waste of time. The internet was still fairly new at this time keep in mind. So instead of joining a fed i took it upon myself to "turn heel" on that message board I often visited. So I declared war on all the people on the message board saying I was gonna take over. Which is funny because how could I? It wasnt my message board. I renamed myself "Capt.Hollywood" (Ala Hulk Hogan's heel change). I dubbed myself the leader of the nMBo (New Message Board Order). I asked people to join my fight and continued to say I was in control. I even had my friends make up personas for this message board and join my "stable" as it were. It didn't take long before others on the message board were insulting me and trying to tear me a new one. Soon the whole message board was about the nMBo. Whether it was for or against it.

Soon after I gave in to the whole e-fed idea. I joined a fed called the nIw. I think it stood for New Internet Wrestling. But I wanted all my hated rivals to join me. So I abolished the whole message board idea. I told them they sucked and if they wanted to get even with me they should join the nIw and meet me in the imaginary ring. So to my surprise or not to my surprise MANY followed. The likes of Madness and Jericho Crain I think were the two longest lasting. I also had my friends and other people join the nIw as well. I increased the roster dramatically. I was the Internet champion there 3 times with a short month. Or maybe 2 months. Then the owner of that fed stopped doing it. The fed died. So I decied to take over again. I created my own website not knowing anything about HTML or webhosting. Somehow I made it work. Then the NICW was born. It was named from the previous fed. Northern Internet Championship Wrestling. I left a message on the nIw site telling them that the dream wasn't over and to follow me to the new fed I opened. Many did and instantly I had a roster.

So it was May 1998 and my fed was the latest and greatest thing. In my eyes atleast. I started with Capt.Hollywood who was later named Chris Hollywood. He was my major heel and had President Paradis in his back pocket. President Paradis of course being me. I had Vindicator who was my major face at the time. Chris Hollywood's faction was now called the tWo (Total World Order). I know not very original but I was 18 or something so what do you expect? Many feuds continued and many factions followed. Chris Hollywood held the World title 5 times before I retired him.

Now I know it seems arrogant to have a fed and to be the World Champion all the time but it wasn't intentional at first. When I first started I wanted to make it fair. So I rolled dice to determine winners. Eveytime you won a title you had an extra point to your name. Eveyone started with a 6 sided die and the more points you got to your name then the higher die I would roll for you. This created lots of problems and I'll tell you why. Because people would call out a challenge to me. I would always accept. So if I lost the roll I lost the title. So we had World champions who weren't really worthy. They would win where other people who left more messages and sent more plans were losing. That seemed unfair. I had situations where someone wanted to retire so they figured they'd go out with a bang by fighting the World champ. They shouldn't have won. So I had to change it. Of course no matter which way you do it someone always blames you for favortism. Most times I was the World champion to help push the next guy I wanted to be champ. Many like Madness, Jericho Crain, AJ Simon, Deadly Darren Dark, Rage, Stunning Sid Stevens, Wu-Ted and so on.

The NICW has closed and opened many times. Each time I'd try to do something new. I'd always try to keep the storylines flowing usually with different characters. I tried to make it a challenge to take a character and make his gimmick work in to the ever changing NICW. I often worked with many of the members and helped push them ahead. I had a few friends who got in to it too. Some I gave creative control. I even gave creative control to people over the net. The NICW was alot looser on rules then. Characters that'd be considered jobbers now were usually thrown in the mix with the regular roster just as an example.

I had to re-open a new fed in 2001 when someone hacked in and took over. I've handed the reigns over to many people. My friend at the time Rob, My cousin Scott and most recent Tom. Which I believe was 2005.

There's much more history to the NICW. I'll try make more updates on the NICW History.

Thanks goes out to all the members former and current.
