2002 Allegheny County Tournament

Dear Coaches and wrestling fans,

The Allegheny County Wrestling Championships are scheduled for January 18- 19, 2002. The committee is looking forward to your team and fans attending this opportunity to showcase wrestling in the county. The tentative schedule is as follows:

Wrestling will begin at 9:30 am Friday ending at 9pm Friday.
Wrestling will begin at 9:00 am Saturday.
Parade of Champions at 7:00 pm Saturday.
Wrestling completed by 9:30 pm Saturday.

The committee will award 6 places, an outstanding wrestler award, most falls in least time, 3 team places. We will be using 9 mats on Friday and 6-9 mats tentatively on Saturday. This double elimination tournament could net a wrestler a total of 9 matches in the consolation bracket or 6 matches in the championship bracket.
The committee is looking forward to receiving your signed commitment form by May 1, 2001. The entry fee is $200 and will only count as three points toward your schedule. Don’t be left out of the County Championship. This will signal us as to your intention to participate in this tournament. Anticipated expenses are $10,000 for this event. We are working on securing a corporate sponsor ($5,000) and weight class sponsors ($300) to help offset the costs.
