Before the match they show highlights of each of the wrestlers. This match took place on May 24, 2001 at PRIDE 14. Wow! This should be fun! Bell! Fujita catches a kick and immediately takedowns Takayama. Takayama manages to stand up though. Takayama blocks another takedown and gives Fujita some stiff knees to the stomach. Fujita gets some punches in as well. Fujita starts leveling Takayama with uppercuts!! Ouch! Takayama doesn't cover up very well. Takayama gets some more knee attacks!! They exchange punches! Takayama already looks tired. They exchange shots while in a grapple. Fujita gets some more uppercuts. Takayama comes back with knees once again. Fujita gets a cool takedown and locks on a front headlock, but Takayama gets up again! Fujita looks tired as well. Fujita takes down Takayama and gives him his BRUTAL KNEE ATTACKS to the head! Fujita locks Takayama's right leg in an odd position and starts to jabbing at him! Takayama can only put his hands up. Fujita manages to mount Takayama and they end up exchanging punches. Bell!

Takayama looks really bad right now. Fujita & Takayama exchange stiff punches. Fujita takes down Takayama and starts destroying him with the knee attacks to the head! Ouch! Fujita follows with some more KNEE ATTACKS and locks on a Side Choke. Takayama manages almost to stand up, but Fujita leg trips him back down. Fujita locks on the SIDE CHOKE again and Takayama passes out. The winner Kazuyuki Fujita! (R2 2:18)

Great match. I liked the way these two just went at it. I also enjoyed Takayama being the underdog. How Takayama kept going after taking some of Fujita's shots made the match exciting and unpredictable.

Highlights are shown of both wrestlers including an interview with Heath Herring. This match was for the first PRIDE Heavyweight Title. The match took place on November 8, 2001 at PRIDE 17. Bell! Here we go! They come right out with punches. Noguiera catches a leg and takedowns Herring. He almost gets an armbar and a front choke, but Herring blocks them both. Noguiera gets Herring in his guard (body scissors of sorts). Noguiera almost gets a triangle cross armbreaker, but Herring manages to stand up! Wow! They exchange punches and shots. Herring takes down Noguiera, but Noguiera immediately goes to the guard. Herring blocks another triangle armbreaker by standing up! Noguiera leg takedowns Herring and works for something. Noguiera gets some punches and manages to get the guard back on. Herring manages to stand up again! Herring gets in two stiff low kicks to Noguiera's right leg. They each go for shots. Herring gives Noguiera a hard low kick to the leg that takes him down for a sec. Noguiera starts raining in punches and leg takedowns Herring. Herring blocks everything and they exchange blows. Noguiera gets back in the guard! Herring stands up, but ends up eating a right hand! Noguiera mounts (!) Herring and almost gets an armbar. Noguiera has to settle for the guard though. Bell!

They both get some shots. Noguiera backs Herring in the corner and leg takedowns him. Noguiera works on Herring and Herring starts bleeding. Noguiera goes into the side mount, but Herring blocks an armbar attempt. Noguiera gets on Herring's back and works for the rear naked choke. Noguiera gets into mount position. Noguiera ends up getting a figure four on Herring's waist!! Herring is in trouble! Noguiera works for a choke. Herring blocks a mount attempt. Noguiera gets on Herring's back again, but Herring blocks the armbar. Herring STANDS UP! Herring gets a low kick, but Noguiera pummels him with jabs. Noguiera takes down Herring once again. Herring somehow almost gets a mount, but Noguiera has none of it. Herring stands up. Noguiera gets another takedown, but Herring stands up again. Noguiera is running low on energy. Bell!

Here we go again! Noguiera gets some huge right jabs. Noguiera gets Heath down and gets a knee attack or so. Herring blocks the guillotine and stands up. They exchange shots. Noguiera gets Herring down and eventually passes through Herring's guard. Noguiera tries for anything. Noguiera gets a huge wristlock (Keymora Lock), but he lets go of it. Noguiera gives Herring some knees. Noguiera manages to get the full mount and almost gets the Key Lock! They exchange shots, while in the position. 1 minute left! Herring gives up his back again. Herring manages to get some backhands on the bottom! Noguiera gets blood from that. Noguiera gets Herring is his guard again. They exchange shots from the position. Bell! The winner and first PRIDE Heavyweight Champion is Antonio Noguiera! (R3 Judge's Decision)

What a match! Noguiera obviously dominated, but Heath ways of getting out of everything made this match so great to watch. This match was just a great display of wrestling skills & stamina. It was awesome. This is easily the best shoot match I have ever seen. I suggest finding this match and seeing what PRIDE is all about!
