This is the kind of boat we used to use for fishing a long time ago.

 | Life in Pilot Point is good. It's not very big: it's a
small village that has about fifty-five people that live here. Many people are Aleuts.
People get here by boat and skiff in the summer and by plane and Hondas, trucks, and snow
machine in the winter. We have only one store here and one school
that has three classrooms. |
 | People fish in the summer for money and go hunting when
the seasons open. We go hunting for geese, ducks, caribou, and ptarmigan in the
fall--except for ptarmigan. They stay all year round. For entertainment in the
winter, we go ice skating, sliding, snow boarding, towing, and ice fishing.
Then we have to get ready for the carnival that we have every year, and that's
fun although it gets boring after a long time of the same thing every year, but
it's something to do. |
 | There are two "towns": there's town and HUD.
In town we have some old houses and some not very old houses. The
cannery is really big and really old. So is the dock where boats and skiffs used
to go. That's really old. The sand has built up, and the mud has gone
out. |
