House of Thunder - A History

Humble Beginnings - GRIM & The Grizzly Bear League

The House of Thunder came from very humble beginnings. Darius Thunder made his debut in the GBL (Grizzly Bear League) in April 1998. Thunder was an instant sensation with his morbid poetry & endless trash talking style. Thunder took his lumps early on amassing a pathetic record of 9-53-2 by August 1998. Thunder managed to turn things around by Dog Days 1998 & snagged his 1st regional title (Prairie) as a member of the GRIM stable. Thunder, along with Ultra, Richard Starr, & Nightmare formed terrorized the GBL. Before Thunder left the GBL, the future founder of the HOT had led the Grim stable to a number one stable ranking & was rated as one of the top ten wrestlers in the GBL. During his time in the GBL, he managed to win several regional, tag, & Six Man Titles. Thunder managed to win one league title during his tenure in the GBL. Thunder was also instrumental in the destruction of the GRIM stable as he brought longtime friend Kahn Lionheart into the GRIM stable. Thunder & Lionheart ran wild on the GBL and the antics of these two superstars are legendary in the GBL archives.

Caius Pendragon was an immediate hit in the GBL and hit main event status within a few months of his arrival of the BBL. One of the highlights of Pendragon's early career was a Triple Threat "I Quit" cage match on a GBL PPV against Darius Thunder & Thunder's nemesis Grits. Pendragon joined with GRIM in 1999 after being invited by GRIM's Ultra, brining more friction into the GRIM stable. Pendragon was a composite professional, and at times, seemed near unbeatable. At the time of Pendragon's exit from the GBL, he had won the GBL Battle Royal 5 times, a GBL Record. Despite the friction between Thunder/Lionheart & Pendragon/Ultra, the GRIM stable managed to survive until the GRIM stable folded in 2000.

Upon the folding of the GRIM stable, the remaining members of GRIM were left without a contract & the GBL folded leaving the legendary six man team of Lionheart, Thunder & Pendragon without a home.
