Starrcade 1996

Dean Malenko vs Ultimo Dragon
•It's the Dragon's eight titles from all over the world against Malenko's WCW Cruiserweight title. Malenko throws everything he can at Ultimo Dragon, but the Dragon keeps kicking out. Finally the Ultimo Dragon wins with a tiger suplex and holds all nine titles! Rating: 7.5/10

Akira Hukuto vs Madusa-Women's Title
•Akira Hukuto becomes the first WCW Women's champ after Sunny Onoo interferes. Pretty decent women's match...better than the women's matches of today. Rating: 6/10

Jushin Thunder Liger vs Rey Mysterio Jr.
•Pretty great match! Best one of the night so far. Very long match, very drawn out, but still entertaining. Liger wins with a Liger bomb and will challenge the Ultimo Dragon at the Tokyo Dome. Rating: 8/10

Chris Benoit vs Jeff Jarrett-No DQ
•Arn Anderson comes out and ddts Jarrett on the floor. The Taskmaster hits Benoit with a chair (one of those old wooden ones...it shattered, looked very cool). Arn rolls Jarrett back in the ring and his arm drapes across Benoit. The referee ends up counting Benoit down. Rating: 8.5

The Outsiders(c) vs the Faces of Fear-Tag Titles
•This match was pretty boring, but what can you expect with Meng and the Barbarian? It was basically all punching and kicking with an actual move here and there. Nash...Jacknife...1,2,3. Rating: 5/10

Diamond Dallas Page vs Eddie Guerrero-U.S. Title
•This is the final match of the U.S. title tournament. Actually better than I thought it would be. The Outsiders and Syxx come out. Syxx distracts the referee and Scott Hall hits the Outsider's Edge on DDP. Guerrero hits the frogsplash and wins. Guerrero then attacks the nWo members but gets beat down three on one. Rating: 8.5/10

The Giant vs Lex Luger
•I thought this match was pretty boring but the crowd was really into it which made it a little more entertaining. Sting comes out, Luger uses his bat and picks up the win. Rating: 7/10

Hollywood Hogan vs Roddy Piper
•Hogan was the champ, but this wasn't for the title...kind of bogus? Though this was a great match that told a good story. Piper fights off the Giant, then locks in the sleeper hold! The most devastating move in the book! Piper puts Hogan to sleep and wins the match. Rating: 8.5/10

Overall Show Rating
•Not the best pay per view, but this is before WCW got REALLY popular. It had it's ups and downs like most shows, but probably more downs. Not too horrible...Overall show rating: 7.3/10
