Background: Chris Caine was born on April 13th, 1975 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to David and Amanda. The second youngest of four children, Caine was brought up in a middle-class home, where his father worked as an author of children's books. As a child, Caine's two favorite things were martial arts and wrestling, even going so far as to mimic some of the flashier moves on the television, resulting at one time in a broken arm before he'd even turned seven. His parents signed him up for free martial arts lessons when he turned 8, and soon after that he began dabbling in karate, kung fu, and even aikido.
In school, Caine excelled in wrestling, winning several prestigious amateur awards, while at the same time continuing his studies in the martial arts. After graduating at the top of his class and attending two years of college, Caine decided to broaden his horizons by traveling to Japan, intent on expanding his knowledge of the Japanese culture. While there he made the decision that would shape his future. In Yamanashi, Japan, Caine enrolled in a wrestling school known as the Blue Dragon Dojo and soon became one of the top pupils, absorbing all of the techniques and nuances of the art, while mixing in his martial arts skills at the same time. Soon after enrolling, Caine found himself in competition with another student, an American named Mark Davis, who had the tendency to brawl, instead of relying on technical abilities. The two students continually tried to out do each other, risking life and limb inside the ring to perform moves that astonished the instructors and other students. However, their competiveness wasn't limited to the ring and both young men found themselves scolded for fighting each other. The rivalry came to a head, during a match, in which both Caine and Davis put on a heated 35 minute battle that raged in the ring, as well as outside. Davis, though, threw out the rules and picked up a steel folding chair and cracked Caine in the head, twice, resulting in knocking the Canadian unconscious. The instructors promptly expelled Davis.
Caine quickly recovered from the minor concussion and went on to the pass the class with flying colors, becoming one of the most loved wrestlers in the local Japanese promotion as he performed under the masked name of White Tiger, a flashy, flamboyant babyface, but after a year, he decided to answer the call of fame and so, he returned to his homeland. In Canada he worked several shows for Stampede Wrestling, before moving on to the States, specifically Colorado Springs, Colorado. Caine wrestled for several independent leagues, winning over the fans with his flashy, high risk moves, and outright astounding ability, before signing on with the growing Global Wrestling Alliance promotion.
