Cheap Love

Disclaimer: Don't own him, J-Lo's got the song and the idea's mine.

Notes: I saw the Love Don't Cost A Thing video like 4 times in the past couple of days and it's been playing over and over in my head and my mini WWF calendar's been turned to the HHH page since April 1st and he's been taunting me ever since... He wants the story, J-Lo wants the story, I want peace so here goes nothing.

"I'm telling you guys," Hunter laughed, looping his arm around Laura's shoulders, "this lady doesn't care if I am the heavyweight or the lightweight champ. As long as I bring home the bacon, she's happy."
Laura balked and tried worming her way out of Hunter's embrace but it was hard work since he was that much bigger than she was and his arm weighed heavily on her shoulders.
"You're telling me that she doesn't care about your pretty boy looks?" Steve asked, laughter dancing in his beautiful baby blues.
"Nope. I could get my face busted until I looked like Rikishi's ass cheeks and she'd still love me, ain't that right baby?"
Her face set in stubborn lines, Laura turned away from Hunter's grasp and stomped on his foot before stalking away. She ended up in the bathroom and looked at her reflection in the mirror. God, she didn't look that much different did she? Just a little finer, classier. The earrings were real pearls, not the fake plastic kind that fooled almost everybody. And the jacket was real leather, not the pleather she'd bought to make believe it was real. And instead of the Wet N' Wild make up that came at a dollar a piece, it was L'Oréal and Revlon on her lips and eyes. But that wasn't why she was with Hunter, was it?
After all, it was the girl in pleather and Wet N' Wild that had attracted him, not the one he splurged on, handing her credit cards and money. It had felt dirty at first, all the money he gave her, but then, she realized it was his way of easing her life, making her relax a bit more and she'd accepted it.
"But now," Laura thought, looking at her reflection in the mirror, "I feel like a whore. And he's made me feel that way. For the past couple of months, he keeps talking about how I'm in it for the money and shit and it's getting to me. He knows how much I hate it when he says that but he just laughs it off like it's no big deal but it is."
Calmly, Laura washed her face of all the make-up Hunter's credit cards had bought, she tucked all of his jewelry into the pockets of his jacket, got her old credit card out of the jeweled purse and walked out. She found Hunter sitting with his friends, still laughing it up with them.
"There," she said, dropping the purse and jacket in his lap. "You think this is all I want from you? Your money and everything it can get me? Well darling, you couldn't be more wrong. You want all of your shit back? You got it. I don't want it. My love isn't for sale, not for all the shit you thought you were 'giving' me. I don't care about the cars, the house, the hotel suites, the clothes, the jewelry, none of it."
"Baby..."
"Hush! I'm done. I care about you, you dumb idiot. I love you. It's the rest I don't care about. Where you work, the money you make, your titles. I care about how you do in the ring, about whether or not your knee hurts. Your money, that's shit in my book. So as of now, you come to my place, all by yourself, don't bring me any presents, don't take me anywhere fancy. Just give me a chance to show you what love is like. And you'll be glad to know, love don't cost a thing, except yourself. It's a cheap emotion."
And leaving Hunter behind with all of his friends snickering at his expense behind their hands, Laura walked out, her head held high. The boy was going to learn, sooner or later.

Title: Love Don't Cost A Thing

Chorus:
You think you gotta keep me iced
You don't
You think I'm gonna spend your cash
I won't
Even if you were broke
My love don't cost a thing

Think I wanna drive your Benz
I don't
If I wanna floss I got my own
Even if you were broke
My love don't cost a thing

When you rolled up in the Escalade
Saw that truck you gave to the valet
Knew that it was game when you looked at me
Pulling up your sleeve so I could see the Rolley bling
Saw you later in the corner booth
Raising up a toast so I would notice you
But your heart's a mess
Think you outta know
Doesn't matter if you're balling out of control

All that matter's is
That you treat me right
Give me all the things I need
That money can't buy, yeah

Chorus

When I took a chance
Thought you'd understand
Baby, credit cards aren't romance
So you're tryin' to buy what's already yours
What I need from you is not available in stores
Seen a side of you that I really feel
Doing way too much, never keep it real
If it doesn't change, gotta hit the road
Now I'm leaving, where's my keys?
I've got to go

All that matter's is
That you treat me right
Give me all the things I need
That money can't buy, yeah

Chorus

A thing, a thing, a thing
Yeah, yeah, yeah
You think the money that you make
Can substitute the time you take
Take the keys here to my heart
Then you can win my heart and get what's in my heart
I think you need to take some time
To show me that your love is true
There's more than dollar signs in you
Then you can win my heart and get what's in my heart

Chorus
