"Hey Kara," the message said, "it's me. I was in town and considering how much fun we had last time, I thought we could do it again. Anyhow, if you're interested, call me. You have my cell number right? Anyhow, it's the Toronto number... 416.555.0920. Call me."
Kara listened to the message for the tenth time and sighed. And called him.

He got to her penthouse apartment at seven o'clock. He'd brought a nice bottle of Chardonnay and a bouquet of pink roses. Kara told herself not to emote, not to react, but his smile won her over from the get-go.
"Come in," she said, opening the door wide, "let me grab your jacket."
Kara put the wine and the flowers down on an end table and took his heavy leather jacket, placing it in the closet. She then picked up the roses and the bottle and led him to the living room.
He was watching her... she could tell from the heat in his eyes as they caressed her legs, her hips, her ass...
"Sit down," she whispered as they came into the living room. "I'm going to put the flowers in water and I'll open up the wine."
"I'll help."
He followed her into the nice kitchen decorated in warm maple and stainless steel appliances. Their dinner was on the stove, filling the cozy room with comforting odors. While she took a vase out of a cabinet, he took the corkscrew out of a drawer and opened the wine. She watched him covertly as his fingers played on the bottle, carefully holding it, pulling out the cork stopper out of the green bottle.
It was such a nice scene... almost homey... and he was so beautiful... so handsome... rugged. He looked up and saw her looking at him. He smiled back at her as he got two glasses out of another cabinet and filled them.
"Here," he said, handing her the glass as she placed the roses this way and that.
"Thank you."
They watched each other as they sipped the wine and his eyes stayed on her full lips, lightly colored with lipstick. Luckily, hers was a face that didn't need too many cosmetics, that was one of the few good memories of their night together.
"I saw the magazine the other day," he told her with a smile, "you looked fantastic."
"So did you... then again we have a good coloring that works together... really blends on the page."
"You think so?"
"I know so."
He smiled at her and clicked his glass with hers.
"You know," he said, gulping uncomfortably, "the last time I was in town... that was really nice... we had a great night."
"Yeah, we did. A great night."
"It's not like I'm one of those guys who has a chick in every town. I don't... I really liked you Kara."
"I'm glad. I liked you too. Hell, you even got me to watch wrestling."
"I did... so, do you like it?"
"Yeah... I think you and your partner are bozos but it's fun."
"We're not bozos," he chuckled. "We're entertainers."
"You're bozos."
He smiled at her and she had to put her glass down on the counter or her legs would have melted right under her.
"I think dinner's just about ready. Wanna wait for me in the living room?" she asked, not trusting herself to look at him.
"I'll help," he offered, "want me to take the plates out?"
"Sure."

Twenty minutes later, Kara watched as Jason cleaned up his plate after his second serving of grilled chicken and rice.
"Do you want some more?" she asked with a smile.
"Well... uh..."
"It's okay... I prepared extra so you wouldn't have to restrain yourself."
"Are you sure that's okay?"
"Yeah," Kara smiled gently.
Jason stopped halfway through and saw Kara grinning down at him. "What?"
"Nothing..."
"You're staring."
"I'm sorry... it... I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize."
Kara got up from the table and turned away from Jason, walking over to the patio. She looked out to Toronto, spread at her feet and sighed before turning to him again.
"What is it?" he asked, finally putting down his fork. "You seem upset."
"I didn't mean for this to happen. I mean..."
"What are you talking about?"
"... we used a condom... we were careful."
"Kara...?"
"I'm pregnant," she whispered, turning to him, keeping her eyes on the brightly decorated rug, "I'm sorry. You don't have to worry about giving us child support. I make enough to support a child. I'm not asking you to be a father or to give me any money. I'm just... I want you to know you're going to have a child and... I'll put your name on the birth certificate and I'll tell him or her about you."
"I'm going to be a father?"
Jason held back a sob as he rushed to Kara and fell to his knees in front of her. She stepped back, shocked but before she could get too far, his arms went around her waist, as he pressed his head to her stomach.
"Jason... what... what are you doing?"
"You're two months pregnant with my child," he whispered, his breath hot on her stomach.
"Jason?"
"Are you and the baby healthy?" he asked.
"Yeah."
"You should get off your feet."
As he said the words, Jason swept Kara off her feet and carried her to the nearby couch where he laid her down and knelt by her side, twining her fingers with his and putting his head down on her still flat stomach.
"I'll be a part of my child's life," he said, looking straight at her. "I'll be there for my child... forever."
"Jason, you don't have to... I mean, I don't want you to feel trapped and..."
"Look at this," he whispered, getting a piece of paper out of his pant pocket.
Kara looked at the paper and it took her a while to decipher the messy scribblings but when she did, she looked down at him.
"Is this true?"
"Yeah... I thought we could get exclusive, you know... I mean... you're the only woman who doesn't gush over the fact that I work for the WWF. You don't care... you're as famous as I am. And you're not using me to get a spot on the WWF."
"Oh Jason..."
"We could, no, we should raise our kid together Kara... please... I mean... we already like each other, don't we?"
"Jason, I don't want you to start hating me because I'm tying you down with a child. That's not what I want to do."
"I know... but Kara... I have feelings for you... I wouldn't have made love to you otherwise... you're special... really special."
"You are too Jason... you are too... I'm glad I gave you my news."
"You gave me more than just news Kara... you gave me a child."
Their fingers still twined over her stomach, Kara and Jason kissed tenderly, lost in each other's eyes, knowing they would be the best parents to their child.
