Part 56:

THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS 2000

Katia looked at all the people sitting in Shane's living room and couldn't stop the grin that spread her full lips. She looked at her mother chatting with Joanie and Linda and tried to stop herself from giggling. Her father was engaged in a long conversation with Vince and Stephanie and her cousins Jennie and Melissa were talking law with Paul.
"Happy?" Shane asked, sneaking up behind her.
"Yeah, very much so. And to say I thought my mom would dislike you and your family. And now's she talking with your mother and Joanie. Now that, I wish I had a picture of."
Shane pressed his cheek against Kat's neck and she shivered at his cold skin.
"Were you playing outside?" she asked, turning around in his arms.
"Kind of. I got you a special surprise."
Kat's eyes went so bright that Shane chuckled as he pulled her out of the living room into the vestibule.
"Where are we going?" she asked as he handed her a jacket.
"Just follow me."
"Come on... Tell me... Shane..."
"Nope. Now put your boots on."
Kat followed Shane outside and they stood out on the porch. She turned to him, her dark brown eyes twinkling.
"So?"
A snowball flew by Kat to hit the door and Shane started to laugh. Kat turned around and saw the slim figure standing in the middle of the street.
"You didn't," she whispered, looking at Shane.
"I did."
"You rock!"
Kat bent down and packed snow in her bare hands.
"Your aim is as lousy as ever," she shouted in French.
"As if yours is any better," was her response from the stranger in the street who was packing a snow ball as well.
"It is."
Joining action to words, Kat beaned her sister Nadine smack dab in the middle of her chest. The eldest Dorsaint sister stood in shock, staring at the snow sticking to her bright red wool jacket.
"You little bitch!"
Shane couldn't help but laugh as he watched Nadine and Kat throw snowball after snowball at each other until they were standing face to face. Kat opened her arms to her sister and they shared a hug, their black hair made grey with snow. They hugged, they laughed and fell into the snow together and started making snow angels.
"Come on girls," Shane finally said, "I'm sure your parents wants to see your sister as well."
"They will. As soon as I do this."
Kat grabbed a handful of snow and smeared it all over her sister's face. Nadine sputtered and sat up quickly, shooting daggers at her little sister.
"What the fuck was that for?" she asked, roughly pushing Katia away from her.
"That was for that phone call asking me for money earlier this year," Katia explained, getting up. "You're my sister. I love you to death. But what you did was purely hateful. Shane is not a piggy bank. You don't call for months and the second you hear I have a rich boyfriend, you hit me up for money? I didn't like that. I still don't. And that was my money you got, not his. And I want it back."
"I'm sorry," Nadine said after a good ten seconds. "It's just that sometimes, it gets hard being alone over there. And then I get this call out of nowhere and you're shacking up with this rich guy and I got jealous."
"So come home."
Nadine's eyes filled with tears which she quickly wiped away.
"Let the loser come home?" she asked sullenly.
"No... let my sister come home. I miss her too much."
Shane watched as the sisters hugged and went back inside the house. They needed this moment. And he needed to prepare for his other surprise.

"So your parents are okay with you sleeping here?" Shane asked as Katia changed into her nightgown in the bathroom.
"My dad was a bit surprised, but he knows we're serious so he's cool. It made my sister laugh and my mom just crossed herself a few times. They'll be fine."
"You sure?"
"I could get dressed and go back to the house to double-check. But then my mother would make sure I don't come back her."
"Sorry I mentioned it."
"I'll bet."
Shane turned his head and watch Kat come out of the bathroom in a long green satin nightgown with spaghetti straps.
"Do you like it?" she asked, twirling around.
"It's very-- green."
"What does that mean?" she asked, a hand on a green hip.
"That it's beautiful. Now get into bed."
With a grin, Kat hopped into the bed, enjoying Shane's complacent sigh as she bounced up and down on the mattress.
"You are such a child," he told her.
"I know. You know too and you love that about me."
"I love everything about you," Shane said very seriously. "It's true Kat. I do."
"I know baby. I love you too."
"I mean, I love everything about you. Your spirit, your body, your mind, your imagination, your stories, even the slash ones, your family, your friends, even the ones you've never met. I love it all."
"Thank you Shane. For accepting the great big puzzle of me."
"It's a wonderful puzzle and I love each and every piece and... damn it, I don't know how to do this."
Shane ran a nervous hand through his hair and sighed.
"All right. For once, I need you to stop being super-inquisitive and critical Katia. Just let me do this and be quiet."
Kat nodded nervously and didn't protest as he pushed her to the middle of the bed and had her lean against the pillows. He even took a moment to bring some of her hair over on her shoulder and brush his lips against hers. Finally, he knelt down on the mattress next to her and took her hand.
The young woman's heart started to beat so hard in her chest and she didn't know whether to laugh or cry. She knew what was coming. Shane was bad at hiding things from her. But she didn't know if she was ready for it.
"Katia, baby, we've known each other for over a year now and I knew I was in love with you when you took me to that greasy diner next to your old job. I mean, I ate those awful fries with gravy and cheese for you. If it wasn't love, what else could it be? All I know is this: everything I know about you, everything I feel about you, everything you make me feel, I want to have that for the rest of my life. I want you by my side, forever and ever. And," he pulled a dark blue velvet box from under his pillow, "I want you to be my wife. Will you let me be your husband?"
Shane opened the box and slid a ring on Katia's trembling hand, with a white-gold band and decorated with a solitaire diamond. Katia couldn't stop crying. She looked at Shane's face, saw the love in his eyes and knew, she knew in every particle of her being that being with him for the rest of her life would be the best thing ever.

Part 57:

Joanie was the third person up on Christmas morning. When she saw Katia and Shane sitting at the kitchen table, their heads close together in confidence, she didn't think much of it. She filled up on coffee and sat down next to them.
"Okay, the two of you are going to have to stop being cute now. Reason number one being that I'm here and number two, no one likes really cute couples like you two."
"Fine," Kat grinned.
"I'll make you a cup of tea," Shane offered Katia. "Earl grey?"
"You know me so well."
"The two of you are acting giddy. What's up?"
"I can't wait to open my presents is all."
"Yeah right. Something weird is going on here. And I plan to find out what."
"You're being ridiculous," Kat said with a wide smile.
"I am not! Now cough it up."
"Katia," said Shane, rejoining them. "Please tell her. Joanie's kind of moody before her morning coffee and I'm really not in the mood to see her beat you to a pulp because you're keeping a secret."
"That's right Shane-O, tell her."
Katia smiled and extended her hand, showing the diamond to Joanie.
"Is this what I think it is?" she asked, her blue eyes widening in pleasure.
"Yep."
"Oh Shane, you've finally gone and made a decent woman out of Kat. Good for you both."
The morning was spent rejoicing in the magic of Christmas and of Shane and Katia's engagement. But Shane did notice when his girlfriend's cell phone rang and she ran out of the den, a smile on her lips. He followed her to the office they now shared and they both logged on at the same time.

K: it's about time you logged on
BRITTNI: what's got your panties in a bunch%
BRITTNI: ?
K: I was tired of waiting for you
BRITTNI: well, sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry
BRITTNI: so what was so important that had you waiting for me?

BRITTNI: I WILL NOT PUT MY HANDS ON YOUR ASS AGAIN... It was just a phase.
BOYWONDE1: her hands were on your ass?
BRITTNI: is that who I think it is?
BOYWONDE1: well, if you think it's the hunkiest man you have ever seen...

BOYWONDE1: that's disgusting
BRITTNI: sure it is. But I thought i'd shock you a little
BOYWONDE1: thank you?
BRITTNI: my pleasure. Now to what do I owe the double honor of your presence?
BOYWONDE1: can I tell her? Can I? Please?
K: NO! She's my best friend, not yours.
BRITTNI: what now little children?
K: well, Shane had a really special present for me last night.
BRITTNI: you're not going to tell me about your sex lives, are you?
K: NO! Shane gave me a ring last night... an engagement ring
BRITTNI: he asked you to marry him? Does he know you at all?
K: funny
BRITTNI: I know. What did you say?
K: I said yes!
BRITTNI: good. I always say, if all else fails, marry rich... And considering how you're getting older and all.
K: bitch!
BRITTNI: assmunch!
BOYWONDE1: you guys have such a nice way of speaking to each other.

BRITTNI: I think I'm going to be sick.
BOYWONDE1: sure she does
K: seriously brittni, I have something else to ask you
BRITTNI: shoot
K: will you be my maid of honor?
BRITTNI: what?
K: I mean you're my best friend and I love you and I really want you to be there for me. I know it's weird because we're never met but please.
BRITTNI: you're serious?

BRITTNI: wow... Would I get to come to montreal and shit?
K: yeah. Got to pick your outfit and all of that.
BRITTNI: who else are you going to invite?
K: well, there's you, sarah, sav, carm, krissy, edna, sherrie, mel, cindy and kelly, and kai. I'd invite more people but I have the rest of my family to invite too and all of that.
BOYWONDE1: I'll leave you two to it. And britbrit, can't wait to meet you face to face
BRITTNI: DO NOT CALL ME THAT!!!
K: LOL
BRITTNI: that was not funny biatch!
K: I love you, you know that, right?
BRITTNI: I love you too. Will I have to call you mrs mcmahon now?
K: if I said yes, would you actually call me that?
BRITTNI: hell no. I was just asking.

Bernadette, Katia's mother, was sitting next to Linda when their children walked back into the living room, smiling at each other and talking in hushed tones.
"Does that mean we'll finally become grandmothers?" Bernadette asked.
"I certainly hope so."

Part 58:

Kat took a deep breath. She'd rehearsed this. She knew it by heart. Now she just had to go out there and do it.
"Oh good god, who am I kidding?" she whispered, turning to Shane. "I can't go out there. I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm just a nobody. I'm going to fall flat on my face and humiliate myself."
"I'd say she's just about ready, right Dad?"
"Oh yeah."
"Come on Sis," Ron Killings, AKA K-Kwik, said coming up being Katia and putting his arm around her shoulders, "let's go out there and kick some serious ass."
And out she came, clad in shiny light blue jeans with a white baseball jersey with the words Lil' Brat etched across the front. Her long braids covered most of her face and she loosely held a microphone in her hand as her eyes focused on the group standing in the ring waiting in the ring for her brother.

"Rap music is WRONG," Steven Richards was saying. "It sends the wrong kind of message and anyone listening to it should stop. And what's more, the people who distribute that kind of music should be punished."
"Punished?" K-Kwik repeated before turning to the woman standing by his side, her allegiance to him made clear by her choice in clothes. "What do you think about that Lil' Brat?"
"I gotta be punished for this?"
And Lil' Brat launched herself into a very descriptive rap about the RTC and why it shouldn't exist. Kat herself was surprised at how well and how easily the words slipped from her lips. Then again, she had been practicing this routine with Ron for months. And as she worried about tripping all over her feet, she didn't realize that she had the crowd on their feet, shouting for her to continue. Finally, she finished up and looked at the ring where Steven and his minions were all red in the face.
"And for this?" she asked again, "I gotta be punished?"
"Yes. It's filthy, it's disrespectable and..."
"Bro... Kick da man's ass!"
With a conspiratory grin to his sister, K-Kwik rushed the ring and speared Steven Richards to the ground and started a pounding that had his little sister hopping up and down in glee, clapping her hands. That is, until the Good Father and Bull Buchanan laid their massive hands on her shoulders. Then, she stopped laughing.

Ivory appeared in front of her and started lecturing her on her choice in clothes, music and what not. The taller woman tried lunging at the shorter woman but it was hard to do with the two giants detaining her. But Lil' Brat wasn't defeated. She kicked out and caught Bull's instep, making him release her. Her arm free, she scratched the side of the Good Father's face and went after Ivory. She'd just downed her with a forearm to the face when Val Venis's massive arm went around her throat.
With the fans cheering her on, Lil' Brat tried fighting her way out of the hold but to no avail. Distracted by his sister's plight, K-Kwik didn't see Steven's Superkick until it was too late and he was still dazed and confused when the referee counted to three and granted the leader of the RTC his victory.
But the RTC's demonstration was far from over. Val dragged Brat into the ring and held her arms as Steven and Ivory remonstrated her.
"Well," Steven said, "since there's no reasoning with you, we'll have to get the point across in another way."
Just as Val was setting up Kat for the spike piledriver when The One's music began and out he came, wearing nothing but tight blue jeans, and with Chyna in tow. The crowd went wild, specially when they saw Chyna nail both Ivory and Steven Richards with an forearm to the face and a clothesline. While Billy took care of the Good Father, K-Kwik was on his feet and brought down bull with a baseball slide out of the ring.
In the meantime, Brat was still trying to wriggle out of Val's tight hold when Chyna, Billy and K-Kwik piled into the ring. Recognizing the time was for retreat, the former porn star pushed his would-be victim into the arms of her brother and slithered out of the ring, away from retribution.
And there they all stood, The One Billy Gunn, Chyna, K-Kwik and Lil' Brat, their arms raised in victory.

"You were amazing out there!" Shane told her as they went into their dressing room.
"God," Kat whispered, taking off her ring attire, "I'm so glad that's over. I was so nervous."
"It barely showed," Shane reassured her. "You were a little stiff when you gave Ivory that forearm but she covered it well."
"Okay. Anything else?"
"No. The fans loved you. That rap brought you over very well."
"Isn't it a bit soon for me though?"
"What do you mean?"
"I'm a newcomer. Shouldn't Nora get the push instead of me?"
"Nora'll get her push," Shane said with a smile. "But she's going to be competing for the women's belt. You won't be. You're too big for it. Both you and Chyna are too big for it. Putting you in a ring against Nora or Ivory in a straight match would be unfair."
"Okay. I just don't want to steal anyone's spotlight."
"You're not. Trust me. Now... Joanie and Paul have been telling me how much fun taking showers together in the locker rooms are. Wanna try it out?"
"I thought we were supposed to meet your parents and Stephanie for dinner?"
"Now darling fiancée," Shane chuckled as he took off his shirt, "how can you think of dinner at a time like this?"
Kat looked at the shower with the multiple showers heads and shook her head. How could she think of dinner at a time like this?

Part 59:

Kat looked up at her sister and smiled at the banner she'd made.
"It's perfect. The girls will recognize it. Did you rent the van?"
"Yep."
"You fucking rock! And don't forget..."
"Yes, Kai is almost blind. Your friend Brittni will be helping her out but still..."
"You know Nadine, there's no reason for you to give me any attitude. I just want everything to go just right."
"It will. After all, once the first wedding goes right, the others are a snap."
"I'm not getting married more than once," Kat said with a grin.
"Yeah, yeah. I'll bring them straight here," Nadine said, waving at her sister.
"Thanks."

Nadine heard them before than she saw them. The laughter, the excited giggles, the names of the wrestlers she was, herself getting to know. She stretched out the banner above her head and hung her head in shame. She was making up her long absence to her baby sister but this was getting to be ridiculous.
The banner read: Welcome to the new McMahon Regime and Wedding!
When Brittni and Carm saw the banner, they started laughing. And while Brittni explained it to Kai and the other girls saw the banner, they all started laughing so hard that Nadine felt like throwing down the banner and stalking off. But she stuck to it.
"Is this it?" she asked, doing a quick head count.
"Yeah," Carm said, sizing up Kat's older sister. "So you're the real sister, huh?"
"Yeah. Who are you?"
"The fake one."
"Mmmm, Carm right?"
"Right."
"Cool. And you," she asked, her eyes narrowing on Brittni, "you're the assmunch?"
"No," Sarah piped in, "I'm the assmunch. This is BritBrit."
"That was your one time Sarah," Brittni growled, "after that I get to drop kick your ass."
"As if you could catch me."
"Listen you Stephanie McMahon Helmsley look alike..."
"It's true," Nadine said, looking at Sarah, "you do look like her."
"Kill me," Sarah muttered, "kill me now..."
"Hey Brittni, Kat wanted to know... did you bring the nipple tassels?"
"Yep. And I got her an extra pair. You know, to stir things up for the honeymoon."
"I'm sure she'll be thrilled."
Katia got Nadine's call when they were pulling up the street and pulled a lazy Shane to the front of the house.
"They're here, they're here," she said, her voice full of excitement.
"I'm afraid to meet them. Carm scares me."
"Oh please. More than Brittni?"
"Brittni... I want my mommy..."
"Stop it!"

Shane followed his girlfriend outside and watched the meeting. There was a bit of hesitation at first but Kat was soon surrounded by a bunch of boisterous girls who almost ignored him. But then, they stopped as a block and one of the girls asked another one.
"Is he as cute as he is on TV?" she asked.
"Better Kai," said another girl, biting her lower lip as she looked him over, "way better."
Shane blushed and turned to his soon-to-be sister in law.
"I'm feeling queasy," he told her.
"You didn't hear what they said on the way over. "You'd blush so much, you'd turn Black."
"What did they say?"
"Help me get their bags out of the car and maybe I'll tell you."
"Come on, tell, tell, tell."
"Bags first, tell later."
As the evening wore on, Shane understood why Katia liked those girls so much. They were such an effusive bunch. And as soon as they warmed up to him, he was accepted as one of the gang. Which meant he became fair game. He was literally reamed over the coals. By all except Sherrie. She just sat there quietly, looking at him while others laughed at the Boy Wonder.
"I'm going to sit next to Sherrie. At least she'll be nice to me."
Sherrie moved ever so slightly, giving Shane the room to sit next to her.
"So," he asked, "you excited about meeting your favorite WWF superstar?"
"Not anymore," she whispered.
"Not anymore? How come?"
"You kind of are my favorite WWF superstar."
"I am?"
"Yep. As a matter of fact, since I know your future wife and what kind of person she is, I don't so much mind that you're getting married."
"And if you didn't know my future wife?"
"Then I'd most likely be in a state of mourning right now," she said with a smile.
"Really? Kat, I like your friend Sherrie. She's really cool, and nice to me."
As he said that, Shane stared pointedly at Carm, who responded by sticking her tongue out at him.

The next couple of days were chaotic as the house was filled with Kat's friends and her cousins, all of whom were busy trying on the bridesmaids' dresses. On top of everything, there were seamstresses all over the place, trying to put the finishing touches on everything.
Things were so hectic that when Stephanie, Paul and Joanie walked into the house, they were barely noticed. As a matter of fact, Kelly, a HHH aficionado if there ever was one, barely raised an eyebrow when she saw him. She immediately focused on the women.
"Kat says your dresses are in your rooms and you should try them on ASAP, while the seamstresses are still there."
"And you are?" Paul asked, grinning at her peremptory tone.
"Kelly. I run your site-- www.thatdamngood.com? Now, Shane's hiding at Kat's place, something about being outnumbered."
"Don't you want to talk to me, get to know me?"
Kelly was extremely tempted but then she heard Kat's voice from upstairs.
"Kelly, come on. We're waiting for you to finish the fittings! And get Joanie and Stephanie up here too! We don't have all day!"
"Got to go," Kelly said with a smile. "But later..."
"So off you go to Kat's place," Joanie said to her fiancé before following Steph and Kel up the stairs.
Paul found Shane in the pool in Kat's backyard, losing a race to Kat's older sister.
"Everyone's at the house thinking you're feeling outnumbered by the women," Paul chuckled.
"I had to find some way of getting out of there," Shane sighed, pushing hair out of his face. "I was afraid Kat was going to have me try one of those gowns."
"You could make it work," replied Nadine tartly.
"How come you're not over there?" Paul asked.
"My dress has been fitted for weeks. And that place is a madhouse. Anyhow, I'm on duty. As soon as I'm dressed, I have to go shopping for tonight's barbecue. Naturally the two of you are coming with me."
"What if I don't want to?" Paul asked.
"Didn't I tell you? Joanie showed me out to do a lowblow. She says it works wonders with you."

Paul was feeling hot. But he didn't know if it was before of the grill where he was flipping hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken or if it was because of the gaggle of young women surrounding him. Either way, he was sweating more than after the Iron Man match against the Rock.
"Who's up for a burger?" he asked.
His question was met with twenty papers plates.
"Uh... how about Cindy?"
The tattooed girl grinned wickedly and even winked at him, which made him all the more uncomfortable.
"Here," said Shane, coming up behind him, "let me. That way you'll be able to chat with the girls."
"Uh Shane..."
"Go, enjoy yourself."
Shane had been working the grill for about ten minutes when Kat came up behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist.
"Three days," she whispered in his ear, "in three days."
"Yep... and then, you'll be my wife, Mrs. Katia McMahon."
"Why Katia McMahon? I'd rather keep the Dorsaint."
"That's just because you're not used to it."
"Ah! Sexist! It should be Shane Dorsaint."
"Why?"
"It'd soothe my ego."
Shane put his arm around his fiancée and rubbed his cheek against hers.
"Wow! And to think of what would have happened if we had gone with another company."
"Don't even think it," Kat smiled up at him. "Don't even think it."

Part 60:

"I'm not doing this," Kat whispered as she started walking down the stairs behind her long retinue of bridesmaids, squeezing her father's fingers, "I am not doing this."
"Oh don't you dare," hissed Brittni, turning around to face her. "Don't you dare do this to me. I'm wearing a friggin' dress for your sake."
"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry."
Jerking her hand out of her father's elbow, Kat picked up the hem of her dress and ran back up the stairs to the sacristy and slammed the door shut behind her.
"I am not putting up with this shit," hissed Brittni, moving down the row of bridesmaids out into the church.
She spotted Shane right away, caught his eye and hooked her finger at him. He hurried down the few steps and went up to her.
"What's wrong?"
"Kat's getting cold feet. Now you haul ass up there and talk to her."
"But isn't it bad luck..."
"It's worse luck if the wedding doesn't happen."
"All right, all right."
Amidst the guests' whispers, Shane went up the stairs and found Carm and Nadine, knocking on the door, trying to talk to Kat.
"What's going on?" he asked them both.
"I don't know. Maybe you can talk to her," sighed Nadine.
"Baby?" Shane asked, pressing his ear to the door.
"Shane? What are you doing here?"
"I was worried. I hear the wedding's off?"
"I can't go through with it Shane. I really can't."
"Why the hell not?"
"Because... Shane, what if I fuck up? I'm going to be your wife now. The wife of Shane McMahon. What if I say something wrong?"
"Something wrong like what?"
"I don't know-- anything."
"Kat, I love you. And if you say something dumb, I'll say something dumb too, just so you don't feel too lonely."
"You will?"
"I promise. Now let's get this show on the road, please. My dad's treating this like one of his TV shows and so far, we're late."
"OK... Uh Shane?"
"Yeah?"
"I love your dumb ass too."
"Gosh baby, you say the sweetest things."
"Now get your ass down there so I can salvage my dignity."
"See ya out there."

When Kat appeared, on her father's arm, Shane stood up a little straighter and started fidgeting. She looked so beautiful and regal. So perfect as she walked down the aisle with her father. They both had the same, proud bearing and when they exchanged that final kiss at the top of the aisle, you could tell how much they cared for each other.
Shane was there and gladly took over for Antoine, tucking his fiancée's hand into the crook of his elbow. The priest began the ritual, switching back and forth between French and English. Throughout the ceremony, the couple held hands, sharing a few glances. When came time to repeat their vows however, Shane saw the tears filling up in Kat's eyes and felt his own throat clog with emotion.
Through her veil, Kat saw the tears in Shane's eyes and it took all of her strength not to reach out and touch him, just to reassure him. Finally, they said their vows, both of their voices breaking by the end, making their mothers sob in their front row pews. When he slipped that ring on her finger, Kat's heart was beating so fast she was sure he could hear it.
As for Shane, his eyes were so blurry with tears that he was afraid he was going to slip the ring on the wrong finger. He finally got the ring on her finger and she managed to get his ring on his finger. And then, the priest pronounced them husband and wife.
Shane lifted Kat's veil and cupped her face in his hands, feeling the softness of her skin under the pads of his fingers. He brought his lips close to hers and before they touched, he pulled back and looked straight into her eyes.
"I love you Mrs. McMahon."
Kat smiled weakly and when her husband's lips touched hers, she almost fainted from joy. Laughter bubbled from her lips as she enjoyed the kiss. When they finally pulled apart, she wiped her lipstick off his mouth.
"This is it McMahon. You're stuck with me now. Forever."
"Damn, forever has never sounded sweeter."
As Kat and Shane led the way down the aisle amidst claps and merry wishes, Brittni and Paul, the best man, followed at a more sedate pace.
"Say," Brittni asked, "since I'm the maid of honor, does that mean I have to do anything special now that the wedding's over?"
"Nah-- just do whatever you can to keep them together."
"What? She never told me about that? Damn that bitch! Can I back out of this?"
"Too late," chuckled Paul. "Too late."

Kat didn't want to move. She was in heaven. Well, close. Sitting at a table, her head on her husband's shoulders, her best friends sitting at the table with her, talking with their favorite wrestlers, it was pretty damn nice. She stifled a yawn and Shane pinched the tip of her nose.
"Bed?" he asked.
"Bed," she agreed with a smile.
"All right guys," said Shane, helping his wife to her feet. "We love you all but the time has come for us to bid you all adieu."
"The honeymoon begins?" asked a grinning Andrew, who'd become joined at the hip with Kat's sister Carm.
"The honeymoon begins," Kat confirmed.
The newlyweds listened to the joked and to the marital advice as they made their way out of the Ritz-Carlton's ballroom up to their honeymoon suite. On the threshold, he swept her into his arms and looked into her velvety brown eyes.
"Welcome to my life, Mrs. Katia Dorsaint McMahon."
"It's a pleasure to be here, Mr. Shane McMahon. It's the greatest pleasure."
