Part 17:
When Sabrina made it back to the arena, it was to thundering applause. She blushed fiercely and looked for a familiar face. Then she saw Linda and Andrew rushing her way, big smiles on their faces.
"Fuckin' amazing," said Andrew, wrapping her in a monster hug. "You looked like you were about to set the whole arena on fire."
"Well, I'm just getting started."
"I hated it," said Linda, squeezing Sabrina's hand. "When I saw you jump out of that car
well, I don't think I want you doing anything like that again."
"Fine, fine," laughed Sabrina, "but he started it."
Just then, Shane approached with his wife and sister in tow.
"You wrecked my car!" he said, lightly cuffing Sabrina's shoulder.
"Correction," said Sherrie with a bright smile to Sabrina, "she torched your car. You dented hers with a baseball bat."
"Thanks," he said with a chuckle, "darling wife. Good job out there Sabrina. That scene with my car is going to become an instant classic."
"Good."
"Yeah Sabrina," said Steph with a shy smile, "that was really cool. I wish Dad would let me do stunts like that."
"There is no way in hell
" said Vince and Linda at the same time.
At their vehement, combined response, Andrew, Sabrina, Stephanie and Shane turned to the McMahon parents, smiles all over their faces.
"Well, we know what they'll always agree about," chuckled Sabrina.
"Those stunts might be good enough for the likes of you, but my daughter," said Vince, his voice dripping with scorn, "will never lower herself to doing things like that."
Sabrina blinked at Vince's words but didn't falter.
"That's quite all right Mr. McMahon. After all, that's why people like me are around; to do the things your daughter will never lower herself to do. If you'll excuse me."
Biting back the scathing remarks she wanted to throw at Vince, Sabrina walked away, making her way through the throng of wrestlers, barely acknowledging their congratulations and kind words.
"Vince," said Linda, pulling him aside, "that was totally uncalled for. Sabrina really put herself on the line out there."
"Well, that's what she's here for Linda," said Vince. "To put herself on the line and not put our children at risk."
"I'm sorry Vince but your words were cruel and I really hope you'll apologize to her for it."
"I doubt it," said Vince. "Trish, if you have a moment, I'd like to see you in my office."
The buxom blonde blinked at her boss' words and quickly nodded her approval. "Anytime Mr. McMahon. Anytime."
"Then follow me. Now!"
As the rest of the roster dispersed, Andrew watched as Trish all too eagerly followed Vince into his office. He got a big knot in the middle of his stomach. Something was amiss in the realm of the WWF. He was about to follow them when Paul and Brian engaged him in a conversation. Once they had left him alone, Andrew shrugged the nagging feeling he'd gotten. Trish wouldn't be that stupid.
"Have a seat," said Vince, slamming the door shut in the stooges' faces.
"Thank you," said Trish, sitting down very quickly.
"Now Trish, I'd like to know what you think of your tenure in the WWF so far."
"What I think? Why, I love it Mr. McMahon. This was, without a doubt, the best move of my career."
"Good, good. Now Trish, how well do you know your wrestling history?"
"What do you mean?" she asked, tilting her blond head to the side.
"Let me put it to you in a way you might understand. After the whole Bret Hart debacle, I've been weary of my Canadian employees. Never know when you guys might take offense to that whole thing."
"Well, it happened way before my time, so it's not really a problem."
"Good
very good. Trish, I have a question for you. How useful to you think you are to the WWF?"
"Excuse me?"
"How useful are you? Why should I keep you around? I mean, if it's because you're a buxom blonde, I can go to the local
Hooters and find plenty of those there and I'm sure I'll find plenty. What makes Trish Stratus indispensable?"
"Well, T&A needs a manager and that's me."
"Trish, in case you haven't noticed, ever since Andrew became Linda's
son, there is no more T&A."
"Uh
"
"Why do I need you? I could have The Kat go back to being a blond and I'd get a better response. Hell, I'd bring Barbara Bush back and I'd get a better response."
"What are you saying? That I'm fired?"
"No," said Vince, rubbing his eyes and shaking his head. "How dumb are you?"
"Mr. McMahon!"
"It's true. Most people catch on to this crap! But no, for you I have to spell it out. Your job is on the line here Trish. The locker room barely stands you as it is. I'd fire you and they'd have a party. So right now, I have to figure out why I'd want to keep you on my payroll."
"And what do you have in mind?" she asked, thrusting her breasts his way.
"Oh please. I love my wife and I hate sloppy seconds. That's not what I'm talking about!"
"What then?" she asked with a pout.
"I know about you and Sabrina."
"Oh, is that all?"
"What I want to know is
is she a dyke?"
Trish smiled then. Now, she saw into Vince's mind. And she liked what she saw.
"We did have an affair a few years ago," she replied.
"An affair?"
"Yes."
"So she's a lesbian?"
"Well, she was with me."
Vince sank down into his armchair, his face ashen
Suddenly, he saw all the times he'd seen Sabrina and
Linda together, their relationship, their friendship
their bond.
"Linda is a very beautiful woman," said Trish, almost innocently.
"Don't you even say it
"
"And Sabrina's barely had any sexual contact since I left her
I know. I can tell."
"Except for last Tuesday night," said Vince, glaring at Trish.
"What are you
"
"I saw the two of you in Linda's dressing room Tuesday night. And you seemed hot for her
like a bitch in heat actually."
Trish went pale at Vince's words and sunk into her seat.
"You saw us? You watched us?"
"Yeah. I saw you throw yourself at her and get rejected."
"Yeah
well
"
"Yeah well nothing. She turned you down flat and if anyone but her, you and me knew about it, you'd be thoroughly humiliated."
"
"
"Oh, don't pout
I don't have time for that. Tell me the truth, wouldn't you want to get back at her for rejecting you?"
"What did you have in mind?"
Part 18:
Sabrina slammed the door to her hotel room and threw her bag down on the floor.
"Don't let him get to you," she told herself, "he's just mad because his wife likes you. It's not personal." She looked at her reflection in the mirror and let out a growl through her teeth. "I have energy to burn," she muttered. "And it's time I started to enjoy my celebrity."
Sabrina had heard Andrew being invited to a club in downtown Detroit where most of the roster was going to end up and she decided to drop by. She looked in her bag and found the right dress and the right shoes. Tonight was going to be hers.
Matt and Jason were waiting for their brothers in the hotel foyer when they saw a stunning blond pass by them. She was wearing a black tube dress with a diagonal cut that went down passed her left knee all the way up to her right thigh. She wore high heel shoes and her hair looked like she'd just stepped out of bed. Her hips undulated as she walked and her swaying body hypnotized both young men.
"Damn," swore Jason, "I wish my wet dreams were that hot."
"Tell me about it," agreed Matt.
Then the blond turned to them, her shiny lips curling to a smile as she looked them over.
"See you at the club guys," she said.
"Which club?" asked Jason. "We'll change our plans and meet you there."
The blond laughed.
"Where you invited my
brother," she smiled at them. "You know him. Goes by Andrew, or Test. Our mom's Linda McMahon."
"Sabrina?"
"There you go," she smiled as she had the doorman hail her a cab.
"Why don't you wait for us?" asked Matt.
"It's okay. I want to check the place out first. See you there."
As Sabrina's cab left, Jason and Matt stared at it, strongly aroused by the sight of her.
"Guys, who was the beauty you were talking to?" asked Adam joining them.
"She was
wow!"
"You wouldn't believe it if I told you," said Jason as Andrew joined them. "And if I told him, he'd have a heart attack."
Sabrina was not the first WWF employee to get to the club. The place was packed with her coworkers. And there was an alcove off the side of the dance floor that was reserved for them. The young woman made a point to avoid that area. Instead, she made her way to the second floor lounge and took position at the railing. From there, she could watch everyone coming and going without being disturbed. When she pulled a thin cigar from her gold-plated cigar case, a man standing next to her was ready to light it for her. She smiled her thanks and went back to watching the action downstairs.
When Andrew arrived with his little friends, Sabrina knew he was looking for her from his quick glances around the club. She stepped away from the railing and out of his eyesight. She was flying solo tonight. And apparently so was Trish. The other blonde came into the club on her own and, like Sabrina, she kept her distance from the WWF crew. Trish took a seat at the bar and surveyed the men sitting around her. Her breasts were on display and attracting quite a few customers.
And wouldn't you know it, within thirty seconds, the bartender offered her a drink from an admirer. From her vantage point, Sabrina watched as Trish and her admirer started a conversation and as the man's hand started an exploration of Trish's upper thigh. After fifteen minutes, she decided to make her move.
Trish was enjoying her companion's insistent flirting when she finally spotted Sabrina coming her way. Stratus had to remind herself not to let her jaw drop. She'd never seen Sabrina look that good.
"Trish," said Sabrina coolly, "introduce me."
"Sabrina, this is
uh
"
"Oh, I'm hurt," said the dark haired hunk, "you already forgot my name?"
"I'm sorry. Sabrina, this is Frank."
"Hi Frank," said Sabrina, shaking his hand.
"So are you a wrestler like Trish?"
"I wrestle. She
well, what is it you do Trish? Oh yes, she decorates the ring."
As Frank and Sabrina laughed together, Trish felt anger rise inside of her. Frank was with her. He had no business laughing at Sabrina's jokes.
"Excuse me for a moment," said Trish, "I have to go to the little girls' room. Sabrina, join me?"
"No. I don't have to go."
Foiled but having no choice but to disappear in the crowd, Trish went to the bathroom. Sabrina hopped on the vacated stool and turned to Frank, a smile on her lips.
"You know Frank. I fucked Trish and I got to tell you
she was all right, nothing to write home about, you know."
"Really?" he asked with a chuckle.
"Really."
"But you're different, right?"
"She kept coming back for more of me."
"So, what are you saying?"
"Well Frank, do you dance?"
"Dance?"
"The mambo? The horizontal?"
"I've heard about it but aren't the steps a bit difficult?"
"I've been told I was a good teacher."
"By Trish?"
"Nah
she flunked out quite a few times."
"And me?"
"You show some promise."
"My place is about fifteen minutes from here."
"And so we're waiting for?"
Frank helped Sabrina off her stool just as Trish came back from the bathroom.
"Where are the two of you off to?" she asked haughtily.
"We're going to dance," said Sabrina, tugging on Frank's hand.
"Dance?" repeated Trish as she watched Sabrina and Frank skirt around the dance floor and head toward the door. "But he came on to me
you bitch!"
Frank and Sabrina were about out of the club when Andrew stepped in their way, pulling Sabrina to him.
"What are you doing?" he asked her.
"Remember that problem I told you I had last week?"
"What?"
"I'm horny and he's going to help me fix it."
"Sabrina, you can't do
"
"What? Impersonal sex? Why not? You and your buddies do it all the time. Now, it's my turn. Don't wait up."
Sabrina pulled Frank out of the club, feeling so elated and free she thought she was going to burst into a million pieces.
Part 19:
The next morning, at six in the morning, the roster was still talking about how Sabrina had swiped Trish's date right out of her hands. Most people were laughing at Trish's discomfiture and some were even so bold as to laugh in her face when she walked into the dining room where everyone was having breakfast.
"You know," she said, walking over to the Canadian Mafia's table, "your
sister is a whore."
Andrew looked up from his plate full of food at Trish. He stared at her for a moment without saying a word
then looked back at his plate, shoveling scrambled eggs into his mouth.
"It's true," continued Trish. "What business did she have coming up to my man when he was hitting on me and walking away with him?"
"Well, he couldn't have been your man much," said Adam, "if he walked away with her."
"And," said Jason with a mile-wide grin, "considering he's just bringing her back, I don't think he even remembers you or your name."
"What?"
All heads turned to the hotel entrance, of which they had a great view, just as Frank was pulling into the hotel parking lot in a nice metallic grey convertible, Sabrina by his side.
"What if I told you that I wanted to keep on driving and keep you in my car?" asked Frank, turning to Sabrina with a smile.
"I'd tell you that last night must have been good for you too."
"It's more than that," said Frank.
"It can't be anything more Frank. This was about sex. I don't want it to be about anything else."
Frank pouted and looked down at his lap, looking very much like a little boy.
"Don't do that," snapped Sabrina. "Don't pretend you walked out of that club last night thinking this would be a long-term thing. You were looking for a one-night stand and I gave it to you. That's what I wanted too."
"Well, it was great," he said with a brilliant smile.
"Yes, it was. But I have to go. I'm late as it is and I have to prepare my stuff. We're leaving in a few hours and I haven't packed a thing."
"Okay."
Sabrina started to open the door and Frank ran around the car to open it for her.
"It's the least I can do," he said softly, helping her out of the car.
"Someday, some woman is going to thank her lucky stars she found you."
Sabrina stepped into his arms for another kiss that quickly became passionate and pulled herself out of his embrace and started to walk away.
"Sabrina," he said, holding on to her arm.
"What?" she asked, tiring of his insistence.
"Imagine if we could turn one night of passion and love into a lifetime of love."
"Frank, last night was all about passion. We can't turn that into a lifetime of love."
"All right," he finally conceded, "but it'll make for a lifetime of fantasies."
Sabrina shook her head and kept on walking.
On the plane ride to Seattle, Sabrina settled in to sleep. She needed to catch up. But just as she was doing that, Andrew came to sit next to her.
"Has our problem been solved?"
"Our problem?" she asked wearily.
"Yes, the horny thing."
"Oh that
well, I am smiling, ain't I?"
"You whore," he chuckled.
"You do realize that you're only getting away with that because you're my brother?"
"Yes. So you had fun?"
"Major fun."
"Trish wants your head on a platter."
"Considering how much fun I had with her conquest, I can understand why. He did this thing with his tongue
"
"That's not shit I want to hear," he interrupted her.
"Sorry."
"But you were careful right?"
"Very."
"Good. Sabrina, what would you think if I told you that I saw Vince and Trish together?"
"Gross!"
"I think it was business related. I didn't think much of it at first, well, I did but I figured they wouldn't be stupid, right? But then I saw how angry Trish was at you last night and I
well, it doesn't bode well for you."
"Thanks for the warning. But I haven't done anything professionally. Not yet at least."
"Anyhow, watch your back."
"That's what I have you for
big brother."
"Shut up!"
For the next couple of weeks, things went on as planned in the WWF. The
New McMahons, who now went by
The Family, were making their mark and they often got help from the Hardyz and even Too Cool at times.
Linda and Vince's marriage was still hitting a few rough spots but there was no denying the fact that therapy was helping. Vince was still incredibly weary of Sabrina and he never tried to hide it. Whenever he came to see his wife, the young woman always made an effort to get out of his way.
But one morning after an infernal therapy session, Linda came to work with dark bags under her eyes. She barely laughed at Sabrina's jokes and shooed the young woman out of her office very quickly, complaining of a headache. Everything came to a head a few minutes before lunch when Sabrina came in to ask her about her plans.
"Linda, I know you don't want to be disturbed but I was just wondering if you were going to maintain your plans for lunch."
"Lunch? Let me check my agenda
oh
I was supposed to have lunch with Vince."
Linda covered her eyes with her hands and Sabrina stood by helplessly as Linda's shoulders shook with her tears. After about thirty seconds, the young woman said 'to hell' with propriety and went around the desk to wrap Linda in a hug.
"What happened?" she asked the older woman. "What's going on?"
Linda didn't answer, she just kept on sobbing in Sabrina's shoulders, holding on to her assistant for dear life.
When Vince walked into the office to get Linda for their lunch, that's the scene he walked in on. His wife and her assistant in each other's arms. He watched them for a few moments, waiting for them to notice him, to jump apart and apologize for their behavior but when they did none of that, he closed the door softly and walked away. Damn them both! he swore to himself.
Damn them both to hell!
Part 20:
That night, Linda had dinner in her room. Alone. She was still sleeping in the guest room next to the bedroom Vince and her had shared. The therapist they were seeing had told her to rebuild her physical relations with Vince at her own pace. Rushing would not help. Around eight thirty, there was a discreet knock at her door.
"Who is it?" she asked, quickly drying her tears with the back of her eyes.
"Mom, it's Steph. Can I come in?"
"Of course honey."
Stephanie looked at her mother sitting cross-legged on the bed, papers all around her and at her tired eyes. She went to sit by her on the bed, carefully pushing a few papers out of the way.
"Mom, what's going on between you and Dad?"
"Wow! What happened to the easy questions like
where do babies come from?"
"I found out where babies come from. Come on Mom, talk to me. Shane, Sherrie and I are worried. Daddy took off today and he told Shane he'll see him on Monday for RAW."
"Did he tell Shane where he went?"
"No. And Shane told me that Dad looked too mad for Shane to ask."
Linda sighed and tried, unsuccessfully to swallow the incoming tears.
"Mom," whispered Stephanie, wrapping her arms around her mother's shoulders.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm sorry honey. It's just that your dad and I
I don't know
things just aren't going very well right now."
"That much I know Mom. Things haven't been going well for a long time now."
"It's just that
your dad's so focused on the
WWF Attitude sometimes that I wonder if he remembers if he's married to me and not to that company."
"Is it that bad?"
"Yes. But I want to fix it
"
"But Daddy doesn't really think there's a problem, right?"
"No
well yes. He didn't think there was a problem at first but the more therapy we do, the more he sees it."
"So what happened last night?"
"He said some really hurtful things at therapy, things he needed to say but that still hurt me, you know."
"I see."
"I always knew that things would have to get worse before they got better but it just hurts so much sometimes."
"Mom," asked Steph, "are you thinking divorce?"
"No! Never. No matter how big an ass your father thinks he can be, I can be a bigger ass! I am not giving up. Vince and I used to be friends Steph. We need to be friends again."
"We all do," whispered Shane from the door. "Mom, do you remember when we used to all be friends?"
"Yeah
It seems so far away. Come, sit down with me," said Linda, making room for Shane on the mattress. "I miss you guys."
"We miss you too," said Shane sitting next to his mother.
"So, tell me about you. Shane, when are you and Sherrie going to make me a grandmother?"
"Is that really what you want? To be sports entertainment's first grandmother?"
"No, not really? And you Steph? Any special young men in your life?"
"None that I know of. Anyhow, I just want to have fun for now."
"Good for you, enjoy your life. You're still young."
Shane and Stephanie laid themselves out on the bed with their heads in their mother's lap, looking up at the ceiling.
"The two of you haven't done that in the longest time," said Linda, stroking their hair.
"I know," whispered Stephanie, "I missed it."
"But you still hog all the room," complained her brother, cuffing her shoulder.
"I do not!"
"Do too!"
"Do not!"
As Shane and Stephanie playfully pushed and pulled at each other, Linda watched them, her heart singing happily. She was finally building her family back.
No one saw Vince until the new RAW. No one knew where he was but he kept up with his business through phone calls and e-mails. When he sent his plans for RAW, people were shocked but Linda decided to follow his lead. She would make this work and make sacrifices too.
That night when he walked into the arena Shane and Linda were waiting for him. He barely acknowledged his wife and shook his son's hand.
"Is everything ready?" he asked.
"Yeah. Dad, where did you go?"
"The day I have to start explaining things to you, son, will be a sad day indeed."
"What about me?" asked Linda, "I am your wife."
"So you say. Come on Shane."
Stephanie watched her mother's eyes cloud over with tears and stepped forward. "I think you should apologize Dad," she said sternly at her father.
"Excuse me?"
"Apologize to Mom. You hurt her feelings and for no good reason."
"Stephanie," said Linda, "don't get involved, if your father wants to be an ass, fine with me!"
"You want to know where I went? I went to Pensacola, to our old vacation home. Do you guys remember it? I spend time alone there and I gave my marriage some serious thought. But I'm not discussing that here or with you two. Linda and I will discuss that privately, with our marriage counselor. Shane, come on, I've wasted enough time here."
Vince stalked off, a grim smile on his face. Shane followed after him like an obedient puppy and Stephanie stayed with Linda, her blue eyes shining angrily.
"I can't believe him," she hissed, "he just ignored you!"
"I know honey. But your father's very angry right now."
"And we're fuckin' bursting with happiness!"
"Steph!"
Linda wanted to look stern but a smile crept up on her lips nonetheless. She liked this wild and impulsive side of Stephanie's when she was angry or when she felt cheated, she always had. And it was good to see that her daughter wasn't so much of a Daddy's girl not to see her father's flaws.
"Don't worry about it," said Linda, a calm hand on her daughter's shoulder, "your father will find his way back to me, to us. It just might take him a while, that's all."
"Whatever you say Mom. Whatever you say."
Sabrina sat in her dressing room, stretching in preparation for her match. Vince had set her up for a tag team women's match. Lita was going to be on her side and they would be facing Tori and Stephanie. Naturally, her belt would not be in contention but she was worried. This match seemed too easy to be real. True, Tori was a fierce competitor but Lita and her were just as good and Stephanie's skills meant nothing to her.
What really worried Sabrina was the fact that this match was the main event, a first for RAW. A women's match as the main event. The young woman shook her head in disbelief. Something was brewing and she didn't like it. Lita joined her about fifteen minutes before the match.
"Hey Sab," said the redhead with a bright smile, "how you feeling?"
"Tell you when this match is over. You?"
"Same. Sabrina, we can take those two bimbos, right?"
"Steph and Tori I'm not worried about," said Sabrina. "It's the rest of the Faction and Vince that I'm worried about."
