Notes: Final installment in the Kat and Steve saga.

Steve waited on the edge of the dance floor while Kat made her goodbyes to her fellow dancers and finally joined him. Suddenly he felt a hand on his ass. Groaning as the fingers tightened into his flesh, Steve turned around and glared at the stunningly appealing drag queen standing by his side.
“You look good enough to eat,” the gaudily dressed man purred.
“Thanks,” Steve said, shaking his head at the ridiculous situation.
“Here on your own?”
“Nope. See that cutie over there?” Steve asked as he pointed to Kat. “I’m with her.”
“You’re into chicks? Shit, that is a damn shame! And we lose so many good men to women as it is.”
“Sorry.”
“Such a nice ass too,” the drag queen sighed, giving Steve’s ass a good grab and grope before walking away.
“That,” Steve muttered, “was surprisingly good for my self-esteem.”

“Guys,” Kat sighed, pulling away from her clingy friends, “I have to go. NOW!”
“Come on, the man’s waited this long. What’s a few more minutes?”
“Want to go over and ask him?”
Everyone turned to Steve and saw him turn down a cute little club kid who looked like he needed a father figure.
“I think that’s your cue to go,” Norman said, pushing her away.
“Thanks!”
Making her way across a dance floor had never taken so long, Kat thought as she fought her way to Steve. By the time she was five feet from him, she’d given up on the pretense of politeness and was giving her version of the Vulcan death grip to anyone who didn’t get out of her way fast enough. Finally, she got to Steve and he grabbed her hand.
“We’re not staying,” he told her as he headed toward the exit.
“That’s ok.”
Steve led Kat to Norman’s rental car and opened the passenger side door for her. Minutes later, they were at the hotel.
“I’m not going to jump your bones,” he told her as they went up to his room, “but we need to talk.”
“I know.”
Steve finally opened the door to his hotel room door, resisting the urge to kiss her uncovered shoulder. Kat herself had to stop her childish urge to rub her body against his as she swept past him. She did, however, allow her a chuckle when she recognized Steve’s housekeeping skills. His clothes looked like they’d mounted a rebellion of sorts to get out of his suitcase and had lost.
“Still an amazing packer, I see,” she remarked.
“Yeah well, they’re clothes, not dishes. It ain’t like they’re going to break.”
“Oh give me a break Steve. You’re just messy. Admit it.”
“Well, I didn’t bring you here to laugh at me. We need to have a long talk kid. Well, more like I need to talk to you and you need to listen.”
Kat just nodded and sat down on the bed to look up at Steve, who was pacing in front of her.
“I’m listening.”
“Good. You’re going to bear with me cause I got a lot to say. First off, damn, I am so glad you’re alive and still able to dance your ass off. It’s been over a year and I still can’t get the image of you getting hit by that car out of my head. Gives me fucking nightmares.”
“Oh Steve…”
“See, I would have told you how grateful I was about the fact that you were still alive but you just up and left me alone. And damn it woman, I needed you! We lost a child together!”
Steve was shaking when he said that and he reached out to her. Crying, Kat grabbed his hand and covered her stomach with it. He knelt in front and pressed his head to her abdomen. Kat’s heart flipped as she felt his hot breath through the suede of her top. Silently, she mourned for their child with him, knowing it was the first time he’d allowed himself to cry over his loss. She rubbed his bald head as he sobbed, wondering if their child would have come into the world with hair or without.
“I shouldn’t have left.”
“I would have walked away for you. I would have gone to Switzerland with you.”
“I couldn’t let you sacrifice yourself like that Steve. What about your career?”
“You, our kid… that’s more important than any career. But you didn’t give me a chance to show you that. You have no idea how much that hurt Kat. Not only did I have to deal with seeing your accident but I had to mourn our relationship and our child. I was in hell.”
“How could… I thought you hated me.”
“Hated you?”
“For killing your child.”
“Killing… what?”
“If I’d paid more attention that day to the street, to my body, I could have avoided the car, I would have known I was pregnant… I could have…”
“Could have what? Baby, I don’t think I could hate you, no matter what you do. But that accident, it wasn’t your fault. The kid driving the car, he was so high, and drunk, it took cops a week to get him back on earth. And witnesses said he tore out of that parking spot so fast there was no way you could have avoided it…”
“But the pregnancy…”
“That was as much your fault as it was mine. I know your body Kat, as well as I know mine. And I saw the signs… your breasts got bigger… I thought you might be pregnant but I didn’t give it much thought… I should have known. You’re not the first pregnant woman I’d made love to.”
Steve’s simple words allowed Kat to take a deep breath she’d been holding. She fell back on the bed and Steve followed her down, his head still on her stomach. He pulled her close and his desire for her, his need to be close to her undid the young woman.
“I love you,” she said softly, touching his head. “I never stopped loving you. I just stopped loving me for a bit.”
“Sure as hell hope you’re over that.”
“Yeah, I think so.”
“Good.”
Fingers moving deftly, Steve made short work of Kat’s top and looked up at her, enjoying her smile as she gazed down at him, her face eerily framed by the mounds of her breasts.
“You’re so beautiful…”
“Well, you’re not so bad yourself.”
“Thanks.”
Kat watched, and helped, tears clogging her throat as Steve undressed her, then himself. He rose above her, his eyes hot and passionate as he devoured her. And in that moment, life was perfection.

Kat and her fellow dancers were fooling around the ring while they waited for Norman to come out of his meeting with Vince. The dance company’s director had been working on a new project he’d been extremely close-mouthed about. Rumors ran wild about what the actual project might be but Norman had refused to be bought, though he’d received several interesting offers.
In the ring, everyone was engaged in a break-dancing contest that would put Booker’s spinaroonie and Scotty’s worm to shame.
“Children,” Norman said as he came down the ramp, “calm down. I have an announcement to make.”
“Good news?”
“Yes!”
“About damn time!”
“Funny! Anyhow, I’m about to double everyone’s workload and you're going to love me for it.”
“Doubtful…”
“Fine, you don’t want to know how come you’ll be on MTV? Your funeral…”
“…”
“Finally got your attention, eh?”
“Shut up and let the little man talk,” Kat snapped.
“Touchy, touchy… well, it’s like this. WWF The Music, Vol. 8 is coming out in two months and they’re going for a more pop sound than before. And they’re putting up the cash for music videos for all of the theme songs.”
“Let me guess,” Tamara said sarcastically. “We get to dance for each videos.”
“Give the little girl a prize,” Norman chuckled.
“Who do we get to dance with?”
“Let’s see… Blu Cantrell, L. L. Cool J., BlackStreet, *N’Sync, Backstreet Boys, Geri Halliwell, Green Day, Barenaked Ladies, Garbage…”
“Norman, if my boyfriend wouldn’t kick your ass for it, I’d kiss you right now. Now, how close can I get to L. L.?”

Kat was ecstatic! They’d just finished filming the last video, this one with the Backstreet Boys for Molly Holly and she couldn’t wait to get back to the suite she shared with Steve. When she heard the shower running, she slid out of her clothes and joined him.
“Hey hot stuff!” she said as she slapped his milk white bottom.
“Hey Kat,” Justin Credible said with a wide grin as he turned around to face her, “very, very nice to see you too!”
“OH!!!”
Kat scrambled out of the shower, wrapping a towel around her body.
“What are you doing here?” she asked Credible as he started to get out of the shower, without covering himself, “PUT SOMETHING ON!”
“You are so uptight!”
“Sue me! So?”
“I was in the lounge with Steve and I had a little ketchup incident so he gave me his key so I could change in here.”
“Ugh! Just… get washed up and get out!”
“Touchy, touchy!”

Kat was sitting on the large bed, legs crossed, when Steve came back to their room. He was grinning like a loon.
“I take it you ran into Justin?” she asked pointedly.
“I take it you did too?”
“Yep… boy’s ass is still sore.”
“Not funny.”
“Right,” Steve chuckled as he joined her on the bed, “it’s damn funny.”
“Why I put up with you I’ll never know…”
“You love me.”
“Humph!”
“You know you do.”
“I do?”
“Sure thing. Like I know I love you.”
“You do that? Love me?”
“Of course.”
“Very cool.”
“So, how was the dance thing?”
“It was great. The boys are so nice. And Kevin, God, what a hottie.”
“Down girl. And what do you care if he is a hottie? You have me.”
“I know. And anyhow, he was totally after Tamara, even if he is married.”
“And who are we to judge? I was married when I fell for ya.”
“True that.”
“By the way babe, I think the time has come.”
“Time has come for what?”
“For me to make an honest woman out of ya.”
“You’re going to stop my shop-lifting habit?”
“You’re a barrel of laughs, you know that?”
“That’s what they tell me.”
“But I’m serious though.”
“You are?”
“Yeah. Why? Didn’t you think I’d wanna marry you?”
“Well, you’ve already been married twice. I didn’t think you wanted to go for a hat trick.”
“Difference is, I love you. Them, I didn’t adore like I do you.”
“You adore me?”
“Yeah, now say you’ll marry me before I have to get more romantic.”
“I’ll marry you Steve,” Kat said as she landed a smiling kiss on his mouth. “But let me make it clear to you now, I’m marrying you cause you’re loaded and famous.”
“Cool, cause I’m marrying you to feel young and because you can do the split. In bed.”
“As long as we understand each other.”
“There is something I want from you though.”
“Cool, because I want something from you too.”
“What?” Steve asked, frowning ever so slightly.
“Tan your milky white ass.”
“Kat!”
“Steve, I love you but your ass is just too white.”
“Is that negotiable?”
“No.”
“Fine. Now back to me.”
“Yeah. So baby, what do you want from me?” Kat giggled, nestling into his arms.
“I know you’ll probably want a big wedding, right?”
“I might, why?”
“Well, think we could do it before you start showing?”
“You know?!”
“How could I not know? Your tits are getting huge! Did you know?”
“Yeah. Went to see a doctor this morning.”
“And?”
“Well, I have to see my gynecologist for a full check up but so far so good!”
“All right! Watch out Rocky, our baby, boy or girl, will knock your Pebbles out of the cute competition.”
“But I wanted a boy!”
“We’re having a girl! A pretty little kitten like her mother!”
“But I want a baby rattlesnake. We’ll shave his head and draw a little beard on his chin and a tiny map of Texas on his leg.”
“You’re nuts,” Steve laughed as he laid her down on the bed and covered her body with his.
“I sure hope so.”
As Steve pulled the covers over his and Kat’s heads, nothing was heard from the moving bodies except the occasional hiss and purr…
