"Get offline and call him up!" Kat IMed her friend.
"Get off me!"
"No! I will not, can not, do that!"
"You are such a pain in my ass."
"Thank you ever so much! Now get offline and call him!"
"You are so fucking annoying!"
"Again, thanks ever so much! What the hell are you so afraid of?"
"Who says I'm afraid of anything?"
"Good sense?"
"Well you and your good sense can kiss my ass."
"I have a feeling Shane would much rather have that honor…"
"Are you ever gonna get off my back about this?"
"Uh, let me think about it for a second… NO!!!"
"Kat…"
"You whine and bitch about how much you want a wrestler in real life and then, luck of luck, you meet one you've been lusting about, he falls for your ass and instead of being with him, you're online with me!"
"Some friend you are."
"I'll take that as a compliment."
"It wasn't meant to be one."
"It wasn't? Well gosh darn."
"…"
"Silent treatment? With me? Try me!"
"You'd make a lousy shrink."
"Probably knowing me, I'd overcharge and give bad advice and watch people fuck up their lives."
"Twisted bitch."
"Sweet-talking will land you in my bed, not Shane's."
"Which will never happen anyway."
"Why?"
"Could it be because the only parts of my skin that is not grafted on is below my knees?"
"This again?"
"You know, you're a lousy friend."
"Kai, the man fucking kissed you! No one else but you. Skin grafts and all. I take that to mean he must like you, all of you."
"But I'm so…"
"So what? So ugly? Yes, you're butt ugly! A more horrific sight than Viscera's sweaty, hairy balls. And guess what? Whoever meets you loves you. Now, does that make Shane, me and all of your friends into sick bastards or does it make you beautiful, from the inside out?"
Kat sat back in front of her computer, trying not to spit in anger. But as she reread her strongly-worded statement, she almost went back on it. She had been very harsh with Kai, almost mean. Her hands hovered above the keyboard, on the verge of an apology but her determination prevailed. She would get Kai and Shane together. Her plan to meet WWF wrestlers depended upon it.

Almost twenty minutes trickled by before a message came from the IM screen.
"Beautiful."
"Kai?"
"I remember beauty Kat."
"Irrelevant. Is Trish Stratus beautiful?"
"Yes."
"Am I? Is Shane?"
"Sure."
"Why? You've never seen any of us."
"…"
"Gotcha!"
"You're enjoying this too much."
"Hey! I don't get to be right often so when I am, I gloat. Now get offline and call him."
When Kai logged off, Kat sighed in relief. Next to her, genie Kane smiled proudly. There had to be a way of rewarding her.
"Hi Shane. Uh, it's Kai. You know? The radio? I don't really know how to do this… I… well, I'm done thinking. Actually, as much as I thought I'd rather send you a message like this but it sucks. Can you call me back? My number's 201-555-7626."
Shane pressed the rewind button for the tenth time and listened to Kai's message again. And analyzed it. Again. She seemed in a good mood but after spending time with his PMSing sister, he knew it meant nothing. Finally, he picked up his phone and dialed her number.
"Hello?"
"Kai?"
"Shane?"
"Yeah."
"Oh."
"You expecting another call? I can call later. It's not a problem."
"NO! I mean, uh, no, it's ok. Don't hang up."
"Eager to hear the sound of my voice, are you?"
"Maybe…"
"Kai, part of me wants to play games but the rest of me… I don't really have the time or the inclination."
"I know. Me either."
"so…" Shane asked.
"I love you," Kai blurted out quickly.
"all right Kai!" genie Stephanie shouted.
"You do?"
"Yes. It's… I had this image of you, always hoped we'd be friends and meeting you… I write love stories all the time but none are like this… like you."
"Is that good?"
"Yeah… no matter how good my stories are, you're better."
"Well now… I am?"
"Yes."
"Good. You do realize I'll fulfill every fantasy you have. And I'll love you."
"Shane…"
"No more doubts…"
"I know. But I just want you to know… you owe Kat."
"WHAT! What for?"
"Without her, I would never have called you."
"Then good for her. Now, what exactly do I owe her?"
