Part 2:
The young man sat at his computer, staring blankly at the screen. Graphs and figures danced in front of his eyes and he couldn't make heads or tails of them. Truth be known, when it came to the business, it was purely a guts thing. He got certain vibes from people, good and bad, and he went with them. He always went with them. But right now, he was exhausted. Sliding his keyboard out of the way, he crossed his arms and laid down his head. Just a catnap, he told himself, that would be it, a tiny catnap.
Thirty minutes later, he was in the arms of Morpheus and lost to the world. Genies Trish and Steph shimmered into the office, their diaphanous robes gliding over their luscious skin.
"Right on time," Steph whispered as she typed something into the computer, gently sliding the man's hands off the keyboard.
"It's a genie thing," Trish said, laying a gentle kiss over her charge's cheek.
"You need this," she told him softly.
Softly, sounds of mellow jazz filled the room, and Trish immediately felt Shane's shoulders relax and in his sleep, his lips curled into a smile. Around him, Steph and Trish danced around the office, laughing gaily. Slowly, the McMahon heir stirred back to life just as Dave Koz ended his sax solo.
"That was Dave Koz and Montell Jordan reprising George Michael's
Careless Whisper and reviving one of the great love songs of the eighties, turning it into one of my favorites of the new millennium. This is for my girl Kat who should be listening to me in Montreal. Our radio waves don't go that far but through the magic of the Internet, we have listeners from all over the world. I'm going to ask you all to stay put for a moment while we hear about the weather and the traffic report for Southern California. Then I will be back with you. This is Kai-Anne and I'll see you in a couple of minutes."
Shane sat up and stared at the computer screen. How in God's name had that happened? He hadn't even logged on to the Internet. And yet, this woman's voice, her sexy, sultry voice, had softly pulled him from his slumber back to life. And he sat, in Stamford, Connecticut, listening to South California weather, waiting for her to come back on. When she did, he lost himself in the sound of her voice again. He didn't know why or how, but he knew that soon, he was going to meet her.
"So you think I should do it?"
"Well duh, little darling, of course you should do it!"
"Kat, come on."
"Kai, please. You think I would tell you to do this if I didn't think you could make a go of it? Come on. Your voice is amazing, when you sing, when you talk and when you're on the radio. I love it."
"You're biased."
"You say biased, I say I'm right."
"And I trust you, right?"
"You so trust me. I am Kat the Great. Now do it. And make sure I can listen to it on the net, OK?"
"Yes ma'am."
Steph watched Kai's smile as she fingered the contract she was going to sign the next day. Kai was going to be the new voice of midnight on her very own syndicated radio show. It was a late-night show and she was going to get a chauffeured service to take her to and from the station on a daily basis. But best of all, the show was going to be as diverse as she was. No topic was too taboo. And it was the perfect place for her to share her unusual interests.
"You will enlighten the world my sweet," Steph whispered into Kai's ears,
"and you will finally get what you so richly deserve."
A smile easing her features, Kai eased into her couch and went on IMing Kat.
"Welcome to my world," Kai whispered into the microphone, a smile on her lips. "This is Kai and wow, this is my show! I'm very excited about tonight so you'll have to bear with me for the next year or so while I come off this high, though I'm not sure I want off this high. It feels damn good. Tonight, we're going to kick things off in style as I have some of my Magnificent Seven online waiting to chat it up with me. You might as well know it now, I love wrestling and I absolutely love wrestlers so we're going to talk about that a lot. First off let's hear from my fave tattoo artist, the Rhianimator."
Shane quietly stepped into the production booth and nodded to the producer who grinned up at him as Kai and Rhi started talking wrestlers and past lives.
"How are we doing?" Shane asked.
"So far, so good. The girl's a natural and that voice is going to keep the world up at night."
"So the Internet hookup is working properly?"
"It's working like a dream actually. And we've already got callers for Kai. The publicity we did for this is working perfectly. Give me a second."
As the producer interrupted the women's lively conversation to ask a few questions from the public, Shane sat down and watched Kai. He'd met a lot of people in his line of work and he knew he had a special gift when it came to reading their auras. But Kai's aura
He'd never been so struck by an aura before. Hers was powerful and through the thick soundproof glass of the wall separating them, he could almost taste it.
"I'm telling you Shane," the producer went on, "if you want to make something of this, something big of this, have her take calls."
"Turn it into a talk show?"
"Something occasional, not every night, just once in a while. People are going to want to pay to talk to her, she has that voice."
"Yeah, she does."
"Thanks a lot Rhi," Kai said, a smile on her face, "I'm sure we've shocked quite a few people and delighted a lot more. We're going to take a musical break and then we're going to let you catch up on news and the weather. Then you come back to me and Kat Canuck."
With a nod to the producer, Kai turned off her mike and unsuccessfully tried to dampen her good mood. But she found it was impossible to do. She was flying way too high. She knew she was going to come down sooner or later.
"Kai," said her producer, Kevin, "I have someone here who wants to meet you."
"You do?"
"Hi Kai," said a voice she recognized immediately.
"Hello. And who am I speaking with?" she asked, a smile on her face.
"Um, my name's Nick."
"Hello Nick."
"Why is he lying?" Steph asked Trish.
"I don't know. I think he's scared?"
"Of my Kai? She wouldn't hurt a fly. Men are such complicated creatures."
"Aren't they though?" Trish pouted.
"You're doing a great job with the show," Shane said, watching the clock.
"I don't know if I should believe you," she quipped.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"It means that since you've lied to me once already, you might be doing it again."
"Kai," Kevin said, trying not to laugh as Shane's discomfited face, "you're back on in 5

"Welcome back, this is Kai and Kevin, I think I'm supposed to have one of the greatest Canadians in the world on with me right now, right?"
"I don't know about the greatest Canadian part but Kat's here."
"Hey Kevin, I don't know you yet but I know I can kick your ass, OK?"
"I don't know if you want to do that babe," Kai chuckled, "he's built like a Mack truck and his arms
Wow."
"That's why Chyna does such a good low blow sweetheart. Is he cute?"
"Yes, I am cute," Kevin piped in, "I'll leave you two ladies to it while I go somewhere and blush."
"Kat girl, it's just you and me for a good hour, what shall we talk about?"
"The only thing we do talk about
sex with wrestlers."
Shane watched from the booth as Kat and Kai went through a list of selected wrestlers, literally tearing them apart, giving their impression of what a night with them might be. It was funny, naughty and arousing as hell.
"And now," Kai said with an enigmatic smile to the booth, blushing to a dark red, "we went through almost everyone, except
"
"Shane-O Mac, the boy wonder himself."
"Exactly. So Kat, your thoughts?"
"Hot, in that I-can-take-him-home-to-meet-the-parents way. He's cute, handsome, rich, daring, has a sense of humor. Over all a sexy package, kind of guy you can spend the rest of your life with."
"But what if I told you he was a liar?"
"Family flaw. Look at Vince and Stephanie. It probably can be fixed."
"He just lied to me though Kat."
"He did? That silly bastard! Why?"
"Who knows? What would you do?"
"I'd slap him silly and then I'd kiss him. But that's just me and I've been known to be a little twisted. What are you going to do?"
"I don't know."
"If you want, I'll write a fic where you get to kick his ass."
"All right ladies," Kevin interrupted, "I've got Shane McMahon next to me and I think his eyes are going to bug right out of his head. You mind not plotting his death?"
"But it's such fun," Kat chuckled.
"She's right."
"Kai," Kat said, her smile shining through the fiber optic lines, "why don't you bring him in here so we can have ourselves a little threeway?"
"Now, I like the sound of that. Kevin, is our boy game?"
"Doesn't look like it. You two scared him."
"Please. He's a McMahon, ergo he's a chicken."
"Kat! That's not nice."
"And your point would be?"
"No point, just not nice."
"Okay."
"All right, Kat, I think you made him mad now. Kai, he's coming in."
At the same time, both Kat and Kai made pretend boohoo sounds that made Kevin laugh. Shane walked into the studio and grabbed the free chair, sliding over next to Kai. He bumped his chair into hers and Kai shook at his proximity.
"All right ladies," Shane said, smiling at Kai, "I'm here, say what you have to say."
"Well, let's started at the very beginning," Kat said. "First off, when is the McMahon-Helmsley thing finally going to end? Cause I got to tell ya man, it's getting way tired."
Shane laughed and wiped a hand over his face. The girl pulled no punches. This was going to be fun.
