On the verge of tears, Chyna ran down the hallway with no real location in mind. She ran because her heart and mind couldn’t deal with the implications of Molly’s revelation. Head bent, she didn’t see the wall of muscle that got in her way until it was too late and she hit it head first.
“Whoa there,” Hunter said, rubbing his chest. “I always said you were hard-headed but this is ridiculous.”
“Hunter…”
“What’s wrong?” he asked, finally seeing the tears coming from her eyes.
“Huh…”
“I know I haven’t been your favorite person for a while now but…”
“She loves me back,” Chyna blurted out all at once.
Frowning at the strange revelation, Hunter pulled his ex-girlfriend into his dressing room, closing the door after her. He gently pushed her to a couch and as soon as she was seated, the words came pouring out of her mouth. Finally, she was done.
“She loves you huh?”
“That’s what she says.”
“And what did you say back?”
“Nothing,” Chyna said softly.
“Let me guess… you turned tail and ran straight into me, right?”
“Something like that.”
“But you love her?”
“Yeah…”
“I’m sorry,” Hunter said with a smile, “but I don’t get you.”
“I know. I don’t get me either.”
“It’s a declaration of love. Instead of wanting Lillian, she wants you. Isn’t that what you’ve wanted all along?”
“Yeah. But isn’t there something you’d wanted for a long time and once you got it, you didn’t know what to do with it anymore?”
“Yeah…”
“It’s exactly the same thing. Molly’s like this life-size Barbie I wanted when I was a kid. I begged for it, cried for it, almost sold my soul to the devil for it but once I got it… it just wasn’t the same thing and I wasn’t sure I wanted it anymore.”
“It’s funny,” Hunter mused. “I never pictured you as a Barbie kind of girl. Steph, Molly, yeah… but you? Figured you were in G. I. Joes and Transformers…”
“Fine, it was the Star Wars Lego set. Happy now?”
“Yes.”
“Now that we resolved your hesitation about my metaphor, any of it make any sense to you?”
“A lot of it does.”
“So I’m not completely insane?”
“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Some crazy people have good ideas…”
“Hunter!” Chyna reached over and punched Hunter's shoulder in frustration.
He laughed at her half-hearted attack and playfully defended himself.
“I’ve missed this,” he finally said as Chyna loomed over him, her knee dangerously close to his crotch.
“Me threatening your manhood?”
“Well not that per se but this kind of camaraderie.”
“Fancy word. Know what it means?”
“Sure. Intimacy born of a close friendship.”
“Impressive.”
“Thanks.”
Hunter pulled Chyna down on top of his body and wrapped her up in a tight hug.
“She’s smart,” he finally said.
“Molly?”
“Yeah. Loving you is a smart decision. Too bad I didn’t realize that until it was too late.”
“What are you saying Hunter?”
“That walking away from you was possibly the dumbest move I might take credit for.”
“You mean that?”
“Yep.”
“Good.”
“Good?”
“Oh yeah. It’s good to know you suffered too. It’s always good to know you’re not the only one to suffer from the breakups.”
“Glad I could be of service.”
“Anytime,” Chyna quipped.
“Isn’t that my line?”
“Answering that would imply giving a damn about this little aparté.”
“That hurts,” Hunter whined.
“Ask me if I care.”
“Cold babe, very cold.”
“I hurt your big manly feelings?”
“Yeah.”
“Aw…”
Chyna gently patted Hunter’s cheek before nestling in his arms.
“So what should I do?”
“You want her, right?”
“Of course.”
“Then, not to sound mercenary or anything, but take her.”
“Simple as that? Take her?”
“Well, what do you…”
“Hunter?” Lillian asked, coming into the room. “Have you seen Chyna? Oh… there you are!”
“Hey Lillian…” Hunter chuckled at the ring announcer’s surprised look, “looking for the beauty in my arms?”
“Uh… yeah…”
“Hunter was giving me some advice about the Molly situation.”
“I say don’t turn down this great shot at happiness,” Lillian said sternly.
“I said the same thing.”
“What about you?” Chyna asked her lover.
“I’ll be fine. Trust me.”
Chyna took a deep breath and almost choked on it.
“I don’t know about this,” she sighed. “What if…”
“What if what?”
“She realizes I’m a fraud, that I’m…”
“Oh shut up!” Lillian sighed. “She loves you. Don’t analyze it or dissect it. Enjoy it!”
“I forgot how to do that.”
“No you didn’t. You just think you did. And if you really did, she’ll show you how to remember it.”
“Are you guys sure?” Chyna asked softly.
“Definitely,” Lillian said with a nod from Hunter.

When Chyna finally got to the women’s dressing rooms Lillian and Hunter in tow, the silence that reigned there was sporadically broken by Molly’s sobs. That sound alone nearly made Chyna turn tail and run in the opposite direction. But Lillian and Hunter wouldn’t let her do that. Amy, who held a sobbing Molly in her arms, finally looked up and saw the hesitating trio standing in the doorway.
“Look who’s here,” she told her friend, raising her chin and pointing to the dressing room entrance.
Molly raised her tear-filled eyes and looked at Chyna, her heart singing at the sight of her lady love. Discreetly, everyone left the room, squeezing past Chyna who hadn’t budged from her position in front of the door. Left alone, the women looked everywhere but into each other’s eyes, both of them afraid they’d not find love looking back at them.
Seconds stretched into minutes until Molly let out the breath she’d been holding unconsciously. Chyna’s eyes narrowed in on hers and the wealth of love she found reflected there left her breathless.
“It’s true…”
“That I love you?” Molly asked shyly.
“Yeah… that…”
“It’s true.”
“That’s… it’s nice…”
“Nice? Is that the best you can do? It’s nice?”
“I’m sorry. I’m kind of without words. I’d given up hope.”
“Come and sit next to me.”
Molly quickly wiped the tears from her eyes and made room for Chyna on the bench next to her. Both women watched as their knees touched, their bodies going cold then hot as their skins made contact. Chyna looked at Molly, hair pulled back into a pair of loose pigtails, eyes rimmed with red from her tears and found her more beautiful than life had a right to make her. She smiled and pulled on an errant blonde strand.
“Your hair’s as soft as I remember it.”
“Remember it?”
“From that night in the hotel room. I spent the whole night running my hands through your hair, loving the feel of it… so soft.”
“I remember that night so well. That night, I kept hoping you’d act on those feelings of yours. The next morning, I think I went back to Tori because I was so disappointed in you for not doing anything about it.”
“Really? God, I thought you were much too raw after Test’s revelation…”
“Raw… I’d been half-expecting it. But I don’t want to think about that, or her right now.”
“What do you want to think about?”
“I’d love to take some time and dwell on us for a bit.”
“An us? Do you really want there to be an us?”
“Absolutely. Chyna, I’ve had too many regrets about my decision to be with Tori. I don’t want to not get with you now and later regret it, you know?”
“I know. But what makes you so sure you won’t regret your decision to be with me?” Chyna asked.
“Because I’m finally following my heart,” Molly whispered, moving close to her love until she covered her lips with hers.
That first touch was magical and made the hair on both of their heads stand on end. It wasn’t a deep kiss, not the kind long lost lovers shared, but it was the first kiss of two people beginning a life together, people who would learn to love each other.
