Paranoia

they are everywhere
voices, looks, gazes
smatters of laughter
all directed at me

i'm a freak, i know
too tall, too big
too manly, too scary
unfeminine, unexpected

they all stare
they all wonder
they all laugh
at the freak

is it something about me?
something in my teeth?
snot out of my nose?
dirt on my clothes?

i am paranoid
i am afraid
that the curtain will come now
and the freak will be revealed
