Matt Hill, Freedom High School
Inducted as a wrestler
Matt is a 2002 graduate of Freedom HS. He posted a career record of 136-25 which is a Beaver County and Freedom record, and is the 2nd most wins ever by an MAC wrestler. He placed 4th in the state as a junior, and 3rd as a senior. He was a regional champ as a senior, and 2nd as a junior. Matt was a 4 time WPIAL finalist, capturing the WPIAL title 2 times. He was a 4-time section champion. Matt’s MAC accomplishments include two MAC titles and one 2nd place finish. He participated on the WPIAL team in the 2002 Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic. He is currently a freshman wrestler for Edinboro University. Presenting Matt for induction are his high school wrestling coaches, John Rosa and Andy Phipps.

Eric Unger, Hopewell High School
Inducted as a wrestler
Eric is a 1987 graduate of Hopewell HS. He posted a career record of 107-23. He was a 2 time state qualifier, placing 6th in 1987. Eric was a 1987 WPIAL Champion. He captured 3 MAC titles, and placed 4th as a freshman. He participated in the Dapper Dan Classic in 1987, and was voted the Classic’s Outstanding Wrestler. His collegiate career includes 4 trips to the NCAA Championships while wrestling at Slippery Rock and Kent State. He was ranked in the top 15 in the nation all 4 years. He lives in Cave Junction, Oregon where he is self employed in home construction, and is an assistant coach for Illinois Valley HS, where he coach a 3-time state champion. He has a son, Kalab Scott Unger, who is 4 years old. Eric could not attend tonight ceremony. Presenting Eric for induction is his assistant high school coach, Kevin Kuhnke. Accepting on his behalf is his sister, Kelly Unger.

Tim Ellison, Hopewell High School
Inducted as a wrestler
Tim is a 1986 graduate of Hopewell HS. He posted a career record of 100-16-2, and was the first ever Beaver County Wrestler to reach the century mark. Tim became the first Beaver County wrestler to ever reach the state finals in 1986, when he placed 2nd in the state. He was a WPIAL Champion in 1986 and a two time section champion. He captured MAC titles in 1985 and 1986, and place 3rd in 1984. He wrestled collegiately at Lock Haven University. He and his wife Dana live in Hopewell Township and have two children, Joe and Tim. Tim is the owner/operator of Ellison’s mini-mart & Citgo in Moon Township. He also has served as Hopewell’s Head Wrestling Coach and is very active in Hopewell Youth Wrestling. Presenting Tim for induction are Tim and Betty Ellison.

Jonathan Denk, West Allegheny High School
Inducted as a wrestler
Jonathan is a 2001 graduate of West Allegheny HS. He posted a career record of 106-32. He was a 4-time MAC Champion, defeating a returning champion each time. Jonathan won the MAC outstanding wrestler award in 2001. He was a PIAA qualifier in 2001, and placed 3rd in the WPIAL. He captured a section title in 2000, and was a runner-up in 1998 and 1999. He is currently wrestling for Duquesne University, where he is a two year starter and has a 26-17 career record. His parents are John & Ginny Denk of Oakdale, PA. Presenting Jonathan for induction are his high school coaches Joe Miller and Carl Yanek.

Bill Moore, Moon High School
Inducted as a wrestling coach
Bill, a former 95 pound wrestler from Shaler HS, coached the Moon Wrestling Team from 1971-1986. He was Moon’s first wrestling coach, and was responsible for starting Moon’s Jr. High and youth programs as well. Under Bill’s leadership the Western Area Wrestling Association (WAWA) was formed and is still going strong today. Bill lead Moon to MAC Championships in ’78, ’79, ’80, ’81, and ’83. He coach 60 MAC medallists including 31 champions. He coached 4 WPIAL champions and Mark Barrett, Moon’s first state champion. His overall coaching record was 170-64. He also served as Moon track and cross country coach for over 20 seasons. His overall coaching record in the 3 sports was 845-310. He live in Moon Township with his wife Janet. They have a son, Scott. Bill has been employed at Moon High School for the past 37 years, and is currently serving as Moon’s Athletic Director. Presenting Bill for induction will be his former assistant coaches, Ted Aiken and Mason Cady.
