Mind, Body, and Soul

Three elements intricately interwoven, interdependent and integral to humankind - three elements that together create a state of balance and harmony. The Brood were the embodiment of such a formula - Edge, the intellect; Gangrel, the physical; and Christian, the spiritual.

With the approah of the new millenium, there have been a proliferation of self-proclaimed spiritual gurus who claim to know the truth, to have experienced divine contact and espouse only that which was bestowed upon them from the heavens above. Such charismatic figures may preach different dogmas, but one trait is shared - they are all talk.

"I believe actions speak louder than words, so I let my actions speak for me. I keep my eyes and ears open to what's around me. And when the moment is right, then I speak my mind," Christian confides.

Christian is a grounded and centered individual, in touch with his spirituality. He does not feel the need to prove himself, nor is he afraid of revealing that side of himself. But as his words above reveal, he would rather allow others to see the evidence of his spirituality than merely hear about it. He is the one who is able to restore a sense of balance and harmony to the group.

From whence does Christian's spirituality emanate. Was he raised in a religious home? Did he turn to scholarship and study ancient books? Was he struck by lightning? Did he exile himself to some ashram and follow the teachings of a guru?

"[Spirituality] is not something one is taught. It's something you just have. It's innate," explains Christian. "I didn't grow up going to church. My parents didn't force any religion on me. Rather, they gave me direction and I came up with my own conclusions."

Although his work is physical, combative and aggressive, his nature is not. Christina is a quiet man, often lost in deep contemplation or acutely aware, keeping a watchful eye on all that happens around him. Whether it is in the ring, out in nature or on the road, Christina is always seeking, exploring. But most of all he is listening. Is it God, Allah, Vishnu, or the goddess to whom he looks for divine guidance?

"I believe in a higher being," the superstar continues. "I have always felt that there was something watching over us and that everything happens for a reason - that everything is already set out for us. I believe in fate."

What then does the future have in store for the former Brood members? There was a high degree of tension between Gangrel and Edge - tension that escalated the group's demise. But are their differences irreconcilable? Will Christian, with his grounded and centered nature, seek to reunite and restore harmony to the unholy trio? It depends, one might suppose, on whether Christian believes it is his role to reconcile the threesome - or if he instead believes the split was their fate.

Blood ties brothers Edge and Christian together, but obligation ties Christian to Gangrel. Estranged for a long time, it was Gangrel who reunited the siblings in the Federation, much to the initial resistance of Edge. For that, Christian is eternally grateful to Gangrel. The question is, Will obligation ever take precedence over family? Will Christian repay his debt to Gangrel, using his brother as currency?

Edge's popularity has grown at an incredible rate - especially among women. In fact, one could argue that is the very reason for Gangrel's animosity toward him - that the green-eyed monster bit the boy. How does Christian view Edge and Gangrel as men concerned with affairs of the flesh, of the ego - the antithesis of the spiritual? Will Christian attempt to take the pair into his counsel to introduce them to a higher level of consciousness - to free them from the bondage of self?

Christian isn't untouchable, however. He is a living, breathing man who happens to be very attractive. Mix his good looks with an aloof, pensive demeanor and you have a formula for a true heartbreaker. There is nothing sexier, more desirous, more compellingly delicious than a man of mystery. Will the increasing adulation from female fans inflate Christian's ego? Will he eventually abandon the spiritual for earthly pleasures?

Regardless, a question remains: Will Christian and Edge be able to remain allies and to peacefully co-exist? It is often the case that the intellect is at odds with the spiritual. The intellect thinks it knows all the answers, and thus often chokes the voice of the soul. How many times do individuals listen to their minds when their guts are tugging them in another direction? Will Edge, the intellectual force, and Christian, the spiritual be able to co-exist and work together in unison? Will their brotherly bond be enough - or will they perhaps bring in another physical being to replace Gangrel and maintain harmony?

"I see that everyone is on a voyage - a set path. We will follow those paths and seek knowledge. The answers will appear when fate determines," Christian philosophizes.

Of course, Christian could easily abandon the physical world of sports-entertainment altogether to go on some spiritual quest...

When such questions are posed to him, Christian remains silent. Perhaps he knows the answers, but chooses not to divulge them. God only knows...
