Drunkenness! Depravity!! Debauchery!!! [Yawn!] Just another typical night at the TRF Patron Campground. But seriously, the Patron Campground has to be classified as a faire event all by itself. After a hard day of play, the playtrons are more than ready to kick back, enjoy a leisurely meal -- and PARTY HEARTY!!! The Drumjam starts around 9pm, with lots of dancing, Fire Shows and tribal drumming 'til midnight, sometimes with two or three competing circles in various parts of camp. Don't expect to get much sleep if you're camping TRF: playtrons of all ages throw themselves into the Jams with happy abandon (Photo, Right), often continuing their wild carouse 'til two or three in the morning!
By lamplight and torch, the drummers keep up a wild pace for hours on end (Photo, Left). The main Circle breaks up at midnight, with the drummers forming smaller groups within the camp -- where the drumming and dancing continues into the wee small hours of morning! Weather permitting, the playtrons will jam every Friday and Saturday night on Festival weekends, but the best drumjams usually happen on the weekend of, or just before, Halloween. Of course! Did you really expect anything else???!?
FIRE!!!
A happy accident, this photo (Right), but one that graphically conveys the mystery, magick and sheer excitement of the drumjam Fire Shows. Best part: you never know exactly WHAT will happen during the Show, but EXCITING it will be! This year there were FIVE Fire Breathers at once, spitting fireballs into the night sky. Even Taz, a swordmaster in his own right, gave a "Blazing Sword" demonstration, showing off his skill and mastery with the flaming sword at the Halloween Drumjam. Truly, an AWESOME spectacle!!!
Thorne (shown with blazing torch in the Photo, Left) can always be counted on as a Fire Show Regular. Here he gets down during the drumming, just before his "Fire Breathing" demonstration that evening.
Primed and ready, Thorne (Photo, Right) prepares for his performance while the crowd waits, expectantly...
