One of the happier Royal Duties is the Children's Knighting Ceremony held every afternoon of the faire at the Captain's Pub Gazebo. There, the King bestowed knighthood while the Queen confered ladyships upon all the children of the realm who sought them out. In this scene, King Henry VIII instructs a young knight-to-be in his duties, obligations and responsibilities as a member of the Royal Court, while in the background Queen Anne welcomes another Lady of the Court (out of sight to the right in this photo) with a touch of her sword.
Satisfied that the young candidate is worthy of knighthood, King Henry proceeds to dub him accordingly.
Queen Anne prepares to bestow a ladyship upon a young female applicant, while in the foreground another member of the Royal Household gives last minute instructions in proper etiquette to another candidate for knighthood.
