The aforementioned grievance Lord Campbell had against the mayor was so strong, he interrupted nearly all the daily festivities-- including the human chessmatch, where he took over as king against Mayor Rook... with the mayor's life on the line (Photo, left)!
The first battle pitted the Washer Women against one of the village idiots (Photos, right and below).

The next battle involved the mayor's swordswoman, Lady LaDoit, versus a trio of frenchmen-- where she proved to be quite formidable, indeed (Photos, left and below)!
