This lovely young lady was selling garlands and flowered wreaths for milady's hair in front of the official "Festival Souvenir" shoppe near the front gate. I always did like that "off-the-shoulder" look on the Faire lasses!
The travelling confessor pauses just long enough in his constant pilgrimage against sin to have his portrait taken by a Flemish painter. The odd, curtained device he leans upon is his mobile confessional -- assuring each and every sinner that his or her sins will only be known but to God, the good Father and anyone else who happens to be within earshot!!!
Despite his rather obvious prayer beads, this playtron's costume stuck in my mind as "the Blue Druid" for some reason. Mayhap because of the unusual staff and the horned headress he wears!

The Bishop of Scarborough is shown here in these two photos: on the left (in red), he confers with a rude peasant and Thomas Carter (on the right), a porter, before Opening Gate on Saturday morning. On Sunday, he kindly allowed his portrait to be taken again, this time while wearing vestments of green (photo, right).
