“Father,
what I am saying is that I must deny your offer to become a death eater.”
Draco spoke calmly as his father’s eyes lit up with rage. Draco leaned against
the wall in his common room smirking at seeing is father’s face in a fire
place. It suits him well. Draco thought. “I must inform you that I have
information on Dumbledore. I believe that--”
“Enough!” Lucius
roared. Draco flinched at the sight of his father’s voice coming out in fire
and landing on the carpet. “I have been patient for years! Once first year
started I had given you the time to think and rethink about the glory in being a
death eater. You are now in your seventh year. Same time tomorrow and I better
receive the appropriate answer. You are a Malfoy, and I will not allow you to
destroy the name I have worked hard for. You disgrace me Draco.”
Draco watched as his
father’s head disappeared into the flames on the Slytherin Common Room.
Walking over to the burning flame on the carpet, Draco stomped it out
with his foot before walking down to the Great Hall.
Being as he was the
last person to walk into the Great Hall for dinner, a few heads turned when he
walked to his table to sit.
“Oh Draco! I am so
glad to see you! I missed you in Potions and--”
“Stuff it Pansy,”
Draco responded bluntly while buttering a piece of bread.
“Oh Draco, you are
just so funny!” Pansy exclaimed leaning into his slim but muscular body. She
ran her hands through his silky blonde hair before giggling for no apparent
reason.
After eating one bite,
Draco stood up feeling as though he had lost his appetite due to the incessant
flirting of Pansy. Not only was she an annoying girl, she was one of the most
repulsive ones as well.
“Draco! Are you
leaving me? Oh Draco do stay I have so much gossip to tell you!” Pansy stated
as if she was a little girl. She worshiped Draco as though he was a god.
Throughout his years at Hogwarts, he received more attention from girls than the
“hero” Potter. Draco was one of the most attractive boys in the school and
he had quite a nice little fan club due to his good looks.
“Later Pansy, just
tell me later.”
With half of the
Slytherin table watching his early depart, he walked out of the Great Hall with
a short of air that made many of the girls watch him in awe.
“Oh he is just so
hot! Amy, I just love him!” squealed a 5th year sitting at the end
of the Griffindor table.
“How can so many
girls be in love with him? He’s a filthy, dirty Malfoy. He’s a rude, slimy
git with--” Ron stated even though both Harry and Hermione thought the same
thing of Draco, although Ron’s little sister thought of Draco differently.
“Ron, will you
please stop going on about Draco. It seems as though you’re jealous of him!”
Ginny said being fed up with her brother’s nonstop complaining over Draco.
Besides being sick of hearing one person complain Ginny kind of admired Draco as
well as around one hundred other girls. He was hot.
Turning red around the
ears Ron squirmed over being told he was jealous of a Malfoy. “I am not
jealous Ginny! How could you even say that? He’s a MALFOY!”
“Ha-ha, well I just
said what I thought Ron, “Ginny giggled over seeing her brother turn red. He is jealous of Draco. I knew it! Ginny thought to herself.
“I’ve got to go. I’ll see you guys in the common room.” At that, Ginny
got up and left while munching on a muffin.
“I think she’s
over you Harry,” Ron stated while stuffing a chicken leg into his mouth.
“She isn’t giving you a special goodbye anymore!”
“Shut up Ron!”
Harry exclaimed while throwing a muffin at Ron. Hermione just giggled at the two
boys and their immaturity.
“Sometimes
my brother is such a dim-wit,” Ginny said out loud while walking down a
corridor going completely the wrong way. Without even thinking, Ginny was
heading down towards the Slytherin Common Room.
“You’re right you
know. Your brother is a complete dim-wit,” Draco said leaning against a wall
smirking at the fact that it was so easy to make a Weasley mad. Although…Draco
thought, She is cute when she’s mad.
Hmmm…
“What did you say
Malfoy?” Ginny said tightening on of her fists.
“You heard me.”
“Draco, if you say
one more word I’ll…”
“You’ll what? Kiss
me?” Draco asked moving from his spot to being just inches away of Ginny’s
face. “I know you want to. I know you want me. I know--”
“You know
nothing!” Ginny sneered. She felt Draco’s hand move up to her cheek. She
wanted to punch him so badly for putting Ron down, but she couldn’t seem to
move.
“You want me,”
Draco stated once more.
Ginny
leaned in to kiss him, but Draco stepped back. “I knew you wanted me,” Draco
spoke loudly as a large smirk appeared on his face.
“I hate you
Malfoy!”
“Sure
you do,” Draco said sounding very unconvinced.
Ginny stormed off to
the Griffindor Common Room. She despised Draco right now.
Seeing the portrait at
the Common Room door she spoke the password Lime
Gumdrops.
“Ginny, I thought
you would have been here. Where were you?” Ron asked as Ginny walked up the
steps to her room.
“Out,” she replied
as she slammed the door to her room that she shared with Luna and a girl named
Kayla.
“What’s wrong with
Ginny Ron?” Hermione asked. Hermione, Ron, and Harry all sat on a large over
stuffed couch in front of the fire place.
“Dunno.”
***************************
Luna looked up from her
Herbology book to see a red faced Ginny.
"Hey Ginny! Are you um...
alright?" Luna asked seeming a bit concerned over her best friend's
expression.
"Yeah Luna, I'm just
peachy. Everything is perfect!" Ginny said sarcastically raising her
voice. Ginny plopped down onto her bed and screamed into her pillow.
"Ginny, I'm going to go
into the Common Room and wait for Kayla to return from dinner. If you need
anything, just yell." Luna said while walking out of the door. Luna
didn't want to get on her friend's bad side today, considering she already was
mad.
"I hate Malfoy!"
Ginny screamed into her pillow ignoring her friend.
On the other side of Hogwarts,
Malfoy seemed pretty satisfied with himself after his encounter with
Ginny.
"Weasleys are just so easy
to annoy. To bad Ginny's a Weasley and a year younger. She's really grown up a
lot this year, " Draco commented to himself. He sat in his Common Room
staring at the fire. Luckily, his father's face wasn't in there this time.
Draco's eyes started to become heavy and after five minutes of staring into
the comforting fire he dozed off with an empty stomach.
****************************
Waking up at around two in the
morning, Draco found that his stomach was making a fuss over the lack of food
that he had during dinner. Opening his eyes, he found that he was still in the
Common Room laying on the couch in front of the fire place. Being that he
was still dressed and very hungry, he went to the Hogwart's kitchen behind the
portrait of food. Walking into the kitchen, he saw no house elves, except he
did see a teenage girl's figure sitting at a large table eating a piece of
chocolate. Draco knew he had seen that figure somewhere and finally, he knew
who it was when he turned up the lights.
"Weasley, what are you
doing in here?" Draco asked as if he was accusing her of a crime.
"I could ask you the same
question Malfoy." Ginny spoke calmly as though their run in with him earlier
never happened. Chocolate always calmed her nerves ever since she was a little
girl.
"I shouldn't have to
explain myself to a Weasley," Draco stated bluntly.
Draco went to a large drawer
with a cooling charm on it and took out a platter of spaghetti. Draco muttered
a spell under his breath to warm up his meal, and he sat down across
from Ginny.
"Ah, still in your pyjamas?
And they don't even cover you up. Very revealing if you ask me. A tank top
shit and mini shorts. At least now I know how you get all that attention from
the Griffindor boys," Draco said making fun of Ginny and her popularity
from the beginning of her sixth year.
"Ha-ha Draco. May I ask
why your still dressed in your robes?" Ginny asked while biting into a
piece of chocolate.
Seeing as this was an
opportunity to make Ginny mad, Draco decided to make up a little white lie.
"I see you want to talk on a first name basis. Well Ginny, I
apparently wasn't in my bed, but I guess you could say I
wasn't alone either. Girls just seem to love the older hot men, don't
they?"
Ginny stared wildly at Draco.
Was he coming on to her? "How would I know?"
Ginny, Ginny, Ginny, everyone
knows you liked Harry. Do you still?" Draco asked while raising his
eyebrow.
"Draco, Draco,
Draco," Ginny said mocking Draco while watching a smirk set into his
face. "Now, why are you so interested in my personal life? Are you
interested in me?" Ginny asked this trying to use a sexy voice. She
hadn't done this before, except she thought she was able to make her question
come out just right.
Draco put down his fork and
stared deep into Ginny's eyes. Not being able to deny his true feelings, Draco
slowly spoke what was on his mind. "Yes Ginny, I am interested in
you."
Ginny couldn't breathe Did she
just hear that?
Snapping back into reality,
Draco stood smirking and started to walk out of the kitchen.
"Where are you
going?" Ginny asked. She wanted to see Draco tell her the truth again.
She wanted to be near him. "Aren't you going to clean up your mess?"
Draco stopped right before the
door. He didn't know what to do. He wanted to stay, except she was a
Griffindor, a Weasley, and a friend of his enemy, Potter. "Let the house
elves get the mess."
Ginny stared in disbelief of
Draco's quick changing attitude as he walked out the kitchen door
and down to his dorm.
******************************
Draco's fast pasted walking
slowed down after he turned the corner leaving the kitchen. How could I
tell Ginny I liked her? No, no I didn't. I couldn't have. Crap...I did. Draco
thought to himself while on his way to the Slytherin Common Room.
Quietly, Draco snuck into his
common room and sat in front of the fire. Even though the common room never
seemed comfortable, having a blazing fire near him always made him feel
better. Grabbing the throw from the side of the couch, he made himself
comfortable and stared into the fire place. Drowsing off, he heard a noise
coming from one of the stairwells.
"Draco? Draco? Is that
you down there?" Pansy Parkinson said coming down the stairs in a pair
of satin pyjamas and robe. Her voice sounded nauseating to Draco. He looked
up to see Pansy looking very unflattering in her clothes. She smiled with
her hair up in a tight ponytail. She must have stayed up waiting for me.
Why couldn't some attractive girl do that instead. Pansy is so, so
disgusting. I deserve much better, like that girl, Ginny. Draco
thought to himself with a sly smirk appearing on his face.
"Pansy, what do you
want?" Draco asked acidly.
"Now Draco, why are you
being so mean to me? And why were you out this late? Draco, you told me I
could tell you all the new gossip later. Well, it is later and I want to be
with you. I mean, don't you want to be with me?" Pansy asked pouting.
She looks even more
repulsive pouting.
Draco thought. "Actually Pansy, I don't want to be with..."
"Anyway," Pansy
continued not waiting for Draco to finish his answer. "I heard some
news about Potter. I know how much you hate him, so I thought you may find
this funny Okay, firstly, Snape took 75 point away from Gryffindor because
Potter didn't do a potion right. Then, I heard him telling that Granger girl
that he had a crush on somebody. Ha-ha, I found this to be a bit juicy. He
likes that Weasley girl!" Pansy exclaimed.
"What?" Draco
yelled. He almost couldn't control his emotions. Now, Draco was once again
competing with Harry about something else. Actually, it was someone
else.
"Draco? What is
it?" Pansy asked sitting down next to Draco wanting to calm him down.
Realizing that he was acting
"weirdly" towards Gryffindor gossip, he quickly calmed down and
acting his normal self. Knowing that his yell would have most likely waken a
few Slytherins up, he stood up without saying another word
and walked to his dorm, leaving Pansy alone. Being that his father was able
to give Draco his own personal room and that Draco was head boy, Draco
didn't have to worry about waking other people. In other words, he didn't
sneak into his room, as Pansy would have to.
This is going to be the
beginning of a horrible day. Draco
thought seeing that it was two in the morning. I am going to win over
Ginny. Harry Potter, this is the one thing you can't have.
*********************************************
Ginny finally finished her
chocolate about ten minutes after Draco had abruptly left.
Leaving the kitchen, she
slowly made her way to the Gryffindor Common Room. Once inside, she too sat
on a couch in front of the fire place feeling comforted around it. Draco
said he liked me. He actually said he liked me. Ginny thought. Oh
my gosh! I have to be the luckiest girl alive. But wait, he left right after
he said it. Maybe he didn't mean it. Maybe... Ginny's thoughts were
interrupted when she heard her name being whispered from the top of the
boys' stairs.
"Harry, is that
you?" Ginny quietly asked turning her body around to see a slim figure
coming down the stairs.
"Hey Ginny. Where were
you?" Harry asked sitting next to Ginny and staring deep into her brown
eyes. Ginny always felt as though she was with one of her brothers when she
was with Harry, but now, she felt weird.
"Hi, I was in the
kitchen. I was a little um hungry. What are you doing up?" Ginny asked.
She knew had to be at least 1:30 in the morning.
Not knowing what to say,
Harry made up a white lie. He didn't want to just yet tell Ginny that he had
a crush on her and that he was worried when he went to visit her in her
room, and she wasn't there.
"I couldn't sleep. I was
to worried about the game we have against Slytherin this weekend. I mean,
its already early Saturday morning and we have a game on Sunday," Harry
said looking away from Ginny and into the large fire.
"Oh yeah," Ginny
said now looking into the fire. After yawning, Ginny decided it was time for
her to go to sleep.
"Harry, I'm going to go
to bed. I'll see you tomorrow at breakfast. Goodnight," Ginny sleepily
said while standing up.
"Night Gin," Harry
said still sitting on the couch looking into the fire.
Quietly, she walked up the
stairs and into her dorm. She didn't want to wake up her room mates so as
carefully as she could, she opened and closed the door and sneaked into bed.
Thirty seconds after her head hit her soft pillow, she was fast asleep,
unlike Draco who stayed up for an hour after getting into bed thinking about
Ginny.
**************************************
Ginny woke up twenty minutes
into breakfast. Her roommates had already left without waking her
up. Ginny wasn't really that hungry due to the fact that she
had a chocolate splurge the night before. Sleepily, Ginny got out from her
warm comfortable bed. Even though it was only in the middle of fall,
Ginny was extremely cold this morning.
"Has Hogwarts ever heard
of warming charms?" Ginny muttered to herself as she went to get
dressed.
Since it was a Saturday, Ginny
didn't have to worry about classes, even though each class gave her tons
of homework. Putting on a warm sweatshirt she got in a muggle department
store. Walking down to the common room, Ginny stood in front of the
fireplace warming herself up. After five minutes, Ginny felt like going
on a walk, so putting on her robe and scarf, she decided to go on
a walk around the lake considering there was a student made trail from
all of the walks taken there throughout Hogwarts history.
*************************************
Draco awoke from a very
peaceful dream when he heard Crabbe and Goyle walk into his room to tell him
breakfast was to start in ten minutes.
Don't they do
anything except eat?
Draco thought to himself while lying in bed. After a few minutes, he slowly
rolled out of bed. Walking over to his dresser, he opened his drawer to find
every piece of his clothing to be his favourite colour (which just happened to
be black). After getting dressed and making sure his reflection in his mirror
was to perfection, he went for a walk deciding that he would rather not see
Pansy.
Going out into the brisk
morning air, he wished he had brought his robe but he didn't to have to go
back into the castle to retrieve it, so he went on being a little cold.
Before he knew, he seemed to
see a redhead walking slowly around the lake. No...it couldn't Ginny, or
could it? Draco thought to himself. Deciding to see if that was the
redhead he knew so well, he followed her until he was just steps behind her.
Hearing a twig snap behind her,
Ginny turned around on her relaxing walk to find a certain Malfoy right behind
her smirking and leaning against a large oak tree.
"Are you following me
Draco?" Ginny asked decided she wanted to play with his mind a little
because of the night before. "I mean, I know you obsess over me, but
I didn't know you would skip a perfectly good meal to be with me. Draco, I
mean so touched."
"Hmm maybe your right. I
wouldn't mind a good warm meal. Right now, that seems way more interesting
than following a Weasley," Draco stated looking up into the sky as if
looking for answers to an unknown question. Draco looked back down at Ginny
who looked a little hurt. Trying to fix what he had said, Draco continued
before Ginny would have had the chance to respond. "Although, I already
had a small meal this morning with you, so I decided I should just hang out
with you during breakfast time since neither you nor I are hungry."
Ginny decided to take the time
she was spending with Draco to finally find out if he liked her the way she
crushed on him. "Okay Draco, if you want to be with me, I'll
gladly allow you. Just as long as no one sees us. I don't want anyone to think
that I have befriended a Slytherin."
"As long as know one sees
me with a slimy Gryffindor, I'll be fine," Draco said smirking.
"Okay then. Umm
Draco," Ginny said while walking once again. "I have a question for
you."
"Shoot."
"Did you mean what you
said last night?"
Draco stopped dead in his
tracks. He once again looked up into the sky expecting answers. When he
realized that the sky could provide answers, he stuffed his hands into his
pocket and looked back to Ginny. Draco stared deep into her blue eyes. Ginny
did the same and stared into Draco's steel gray eyes. His eyes are
so unreadable. What is he thinking? Ginny thought.
Finally, Draco opened his mouth
as if to utter the most important words of his life. "Ginny, I..."
Draco was cut off when there
was a bang from the Dark Forest. Ginny screamed and turned around to face the
Dark Forest while leaning against Draco for comfort and that if she let go of
him, she would have fallen down out of fear.
Draco just stared into the Dark Forest
without moving except to put his arm around Ginny. "Let's go Ginny. I
think Potter will have to miss this adventure to prevent evil. Lets just hope
it isn't my father"
Draco let go of Ginny and
started to carefully walk into the Dark Forest, quickening his pace with every
step he took. After a moment Ginny jogged after him preparing herself for
anything
***************************
"Draco, hold on! I can't
run that fast!" Ginny exclaimed. She stopped for a moment to catch her
breath. She was panting and sweat was dripping down her face. "Please
Draco. Give me just one more minute."
Draco stopped ten feet ahead.
"Ginny, whoever is here in this forest could disappear any second.
Considering we don't know who they are, we want to be careful, and
hurry!" Draco said as he held out his hand for Ginny to hold
on to.
Ginny looked up to see
Draco's face. Within the lines of his features, you could see pain, worry,
and fear. Ginny walked to Draco and held his hand tightly.
Before another second passed, they two were off again.
Meanwhile a few hundred yards
away from where Draco and Ginny were, three deatheaters were making
their way towards Hogwarts. "Draco and Dumbledore won't be
expecting us. Finally, we can please Lucius and make his son a deatheater
for our Dark Lord," one of the deatheaters said.
"Draco I go any further.
I feel like I'm about to fall down. Can we please..." Ginny was cut off
from her complaining when Draco put his index finger over her lips to keep
her quite. Carefully, he motioned for Ginny to follow him to behind a large
tree. Within seconds, three hooded characters glided by. Draco watched him
intently while Ginny was scared stiff. If needed to, Ginny would be unable
to move as she was frozen in fear. The deatheaters were just two yards away.
Ginny was finally able
to sneak a pick over to Draco. He stared as if all of this was unreal. Once the
deatheaters were farther way, Draco once again motion for Ginny to follow
him.
"Draco, the deatheaters
are going in the other direction," Ginny whispered.
Draco stopped and looked into
Ginny's eyes. "Yes, I know, but I am not safe at Hogwarts. Ha! For
once, the deatheaters aren't after Potter."
"Draco, what are you
talking about? Are you going to be one of them?" Ginny quietly asked as
she motioned where the deatheaters once were.
"I don't want to be a
deatheater, except, I don't know if I have a choice," Draco stated
looking down at his once brightly polished shoes that were now scuffed up.
"Ginny, you can't come with me. You'll be much safer at Hogwarts.
Please go back."
"I can't. I don't want
you to get hurt. If you did, I wouldn't know what to do!" Ginny
exclaimed staring into Draco's grey eyes once more. She was able
to see a wave of happiness and fear go over Draco's face.
"Ginny," Draco
whispered. He put his hand on Ginny cheek and leaned in to kiss her.
Ginny closed her eyes and received the kiss on her lips. Although it had
only lasted for a spilt second, to Ginny, that felt like eternal bliss.
"Please go back!"
Draco pleaded.
"Draco, I would rather
be with you and help you fight off the deatheaters. Please, I can help? I
don't want to leave you!"
Draco just stared at Ginny
and finally gave up. He knew in his heart that he wanted to be with her, but
in his mind, he knew it wasn't safe. "Ginny, follow me. We are going to
Hogsmead then to London. After that, hopefully Hogwarts will be safe
enough for us to return to. It will only be for a couple of days, except we
just have to hurry out of the Dark Forest." Draco stated as he
grabbed onto Ginny hand and leaded her through the forest. After what seemed
like an hour, they reached the outskirts of Hogsmead and called
for the Night Bus.
"Ginny, if anything
happens to you, I will never forgive myself," Draco said while waiting
for the arrival of the Night Bus.
"Draco, I'll be fine. I
want just want you to be safe."
"What about Harry? Don't
you want him to be safe? Don't you, well, love him?" Draco asked
seriously looking straight into Ginny's eyes. She felt that he could read
her brain. Ginny just stared back intently.
"I love him like a
brother, but what I feel for you is different," Ginny said
breaking the stare and looking into the street.
Draco looked away from Ginny
and for the first time in months, he had a real smile come across his
face. He reached out for Ginny's hand and tightly squeezed it. Ginny
just looked into the streets of Hogsmead smiling with her red hair flowing
freely across her face.
****************************
Ginny sat on one of the beds in
the back of the Knight Bus where there were no others. She watched Draco as he
talked to the bus driver about where they wanted to go and the price of the
trip. Ginny saw Draco giving the driver at least five Gallons. How much money
does he carry on him? Ginny thought to herself as she watched Draco walked
back towards the bed Ginny was sitting on.
He pushed back a few strands of
his blond hair that were in his eyes. "The driver said we'll be in London
within an hour. Until then, we might as well relax."
Ginny, still wondering how much
money Draco had on him, couldn't seem to hold the question in any longer.
"How much money do you actually have with you?" She blurted.
Draco chuckled and took out a
sack of gallons from his pocket. "I would say I have about sixty
gallons left That should be enough for us to have for the next two days,
considering I never had the chance to go to Gringotts."
Ginny sighed. She leaned onto
Draco's shoulder and fell asleep until the bus abruptly stopped when arriving
at a hotel in London.
"Ginny, you have to get
up. We are in London. Come on," Draco softly spoke. He lifted her up onto
her feet and they left the bus and Ginny found that she was standing
front of a large grand hotel.
Ginny stared in awe at the
magnificent building that had to be at least ten stories tall. She had never
been in a large city before. Draco took Ginny by the arm and led her into the
hotel. Walking through the revolving doors, Ginny saw a large marble hall
with large white pillars in the middle of the hall with cream coloured
couches facing each other in the middle with a dark brown coffee table in
between the two couches. On the left side of the hall, there were about ten
counters to check into. On the right side, the entire wall was covered with
books with a large fire in the middle of the wall.
Draco walked to the very last
counter and asked for a room with two beds in it.
"I'm sorry sir, but
we seem to be out of that type of room. We do have one room with a
king sized bed in it. Besides that, we are fully booked." the main behind
the desk said.
Draco looked to Ginny who
apparently didn't even hear a word the man said because she was still staring
into the grand hall. Draco decided to except the room.
"Ok, for two nights, your
total will be..." the man was cut off when Draco pulled out gallons.
"Oh, I see. You're not a muggle. Okay, then your total will come to
forty-two gallons."
Draco paid and received a key
to the room. He once again took Ginny by the arm and led her to their room.
"Ginny, help me find room
number 1129." Draco said while looking up at the door numbers.
Ginny looked up to see room
numbers decreasing from 1119 to 1117. " I think we are going in the wrong
direction. We have to go the other way." Ginny said while pointing down
the hall which Draco's back faced.
Draco turned a little red, but
soon got over it when they reached their room. Once Draco opened their door,
the look on Ginny's face was priceless. "I thought we were going to have
a room with two beds!"
Draco couldn't resist playing a
joke on Ginny. "I thought that since were going to be together for the
next two days, we might as well get to know each other and sharing a bed is
the perfect way," Draco calmly said with a smirk on his face. He laid on
the bed and patted it as if to invite Ginny to get close to him.
Draco!" Ginny screamed.
Draco sat up and started to
laugh. It wasn't a chuckle. It was a full out loud laugh were he clenched his
stomach. Ginny realized that Draco was joking and she sat next to him on
the side of the bed and nudged him as if to say that wasn't funny.
Although, she had a slight smile on her face.
"Sorry Gin, but this was
the last room available," Draco said after his long laugh.
"Its okay." Ginny
said. "Besides, you were right! Sharing a bed is the
perfect way for us to get to know each other." Ginny walked into the
bathroom to clean up her appearance. Draco just stared after her wondering if
she was joking or not.
I like that girl...a
lot.
Draco thought as he watched the bathroom door close.
