I just can't be late for Potions again, I mean sitting next to Draco Malfoy should be incentive enough to be on time!  Loreli Angelstar thought while running down the hall trying to get to the dungeon where Professor Snape taught Potions. She saw the door and ran full speed. She burst into the room, she took  a breath. She made it, he wasn't even there yet. She plopped down next to Draco and caught her breath.

 

"Wow, you're on time today. You look flushed, are you alright?"Draco asked in his drawling and hypnotic voice.

 

" Oh, yeah I'll be fine, once I can breathe normally again. But, now that I think about it I feel a little dizzy. But, I'm sure I'll be fine. Thanks for asking."  She replied.

 

"A head rush! Are you sure you don't want to go to the hospital wing? I really don't want to be worrying about you."

 

"No, I'm fine. Really." Wow, he's worried about me!  She thought.

 

All of a sudden, she heard a slam, breaking through her thoughts, it was professor Snape.

 

"Settle down, Settle down, enough foolishness. Weasley, get rid of that dungbomb. Today we are going to be making wolfsbane. "You will find the needed ingredients in front of you. The person next to you is your partner, if you don't like your partner, Tough. I said NOW Weasley!" Now get to work." He replied 

 

At that, Loreli picked up the lighter for the flame to heat the potion. After at least ten minutes, she finally said,

 

"This stupid thing won't light!"

 

"Let me show you how to do it" He said warmly.

 

He got up and stood behind her.  Put his arms around her and put her hands in his,

 

"You were holding it wrong, like this"

 

"Well that was just pure lack of common sense on my part" She replied sarcastically.

 

"No, you just made a mistake. Nothing to get annoyed at."

 

"Umm, Draco?"

 

"Yeah?"

 

"You can let go now, I'm fine."

 

"Oh, sorry. I forgot." He said turning bright red.

 

"Oh, don't worry about it" I enjoyed every minute of it. She thought.

 

Class continued quietly and by the end of potions, Neville Longbottom had managed to melt the cauldron and burn a hole through the table. Harry and Ron had mixed the wrong ingredients causing the potion to boil and explode. The list of screw-ups goes on, so I'll just cut to the chase. Loreli and Draco's was the only one that came out right.

 

"Well, once again a successful potion created by Malfoy and Angelstar. I hope this teaches the rest of you that wolfsbane is NOT that hard to make. I expect better from the rest of you. I'll see you on Monday." Replied Snape in a sneering voice.

 

At this point, Loreli went to find her best friends Cho Chang and Luna Lovegood in the reading room in the library. 

 

"Hey, what's up?" Loreli asked plopping down next to Luna and Cho on the couch.

 

"Potions was brutal today, I can't believe that you and Draco made a good potion again.  And why did he have his arms around you?" Luna replied

 

"Yeah, I saw some chemistry going on there, if you know what I mean." Said Cho jokingly.

 

"Oh, please. What would he possibly like about me?"

 

"You're sweet, funny, pretty, a romantic, and you can play guitar better than any guy." Luna informed her

 

Meanwhile, in the other end of Library, Draco was approached by Marcus Flint,

 

"Malfoy" Flint shouted across the room.

 

"Yeah?" he replied

 

"I saw what happened in potions, you and Loreli"

 

"Yeah, and?"

 

"Why do you always get so lucky? Loreli is beautiful, I would do anything to get that close to her. And she let you touch her, she never lets any guy within two feet of her."

 

"Interesting. Any ideas why?" Draco said confused.

 

"Yeah, she's from The Bronx in New York, Rough place, You've always got to be on your guard there, It's very hard to know who and who not to trust. A lot of gang fights. She still sleeps with a switchblade under her pillow and carries around pepper spray." Marcus informed him.

 

"I didn't know any of that. How did you find out all of that?" Draco wanted to know.

 

"Cho and Luna warned me after she blew me off while I was chatting her up." He replied

 

"I never would have guessed, She's such a sweetheart to me." Said Draco

 

''Well that's because she likes you. A lot." He replied back

 

"And I suppose you're going to tell me that Cho and Luna told you that too." Draco said impatiently

 

"No, I overheard the talking in their dormitory about it, walking back from the library last night." Marcus said.

 

"Really?" He said grinning.

 

"Yeah, and she also called you the most handsome guy she's ever met, she called you a babe and said she thought you were such a sweet guy." Marcus said nudging him.

 

"I think I'm in love with her." Draco replied.

 

"I thought so." Marcus replied in an understanding voice.

 

"She has these bright green eyes, I love her eyes, pretty gold hair, and a sweet laugh. She's such a sweetheart" he replied dreamily.

 

"I get the idea you really, really like her." Marcus said.

 

Little did Draco and Marcus know, Luna, Cho, and Loreli heard everything. Loreli was in a state of complete shock.

 

"Well there you go" Cho said.

 

"Right from the man himself, Are you convinced now Loreli?" Luna replied in a teasing tone.

 

"This is great!" Loreli whispered excitedly.

 

"Why don't we go to the Three Brooms Tavern and get a butterbeer to celebrate?"

 

"That's a great idea, Cho." Luna said

 

"Let's go." Loreli said.

 

While at the Tavern, the girls began to fantasize about what would happen if he confessed that he loved her.

 

"Maybe, he'll take her in his arms kiss you and whisper in your ear that he's madly in love with her." Luna suggested giggling.

 

''Oh come on, Luna that only happens in the movies. I think he'll take her out to dinner and tell you as he's walking you back to the dorm. That sounds more realistic." Cho joked

 

"Hey, it could happen" she replied indignantly

 

"How do you two know how he'll do it. Let's just sit back and hope it does." Loreli replied

 

"Here Here!" Shouted Cho shouted. They raised their mugs, banged glasses and took a long sip.

 

All of a sudden they heard someone clear their throat. They looked up to find Lucius Malfoy standing over their table with a mocking smirk on his face.

 

"So this is the young lady who has my son so captivated. Loreli, I 'm guessing." He drawled.

 

"Yes, I am, sir. What can I do for you?" She replied nervously.

 

"Nothing really, I just heard the name Loreli and had to meet you. Pretty little thing, aren't you? Just the way Draco described you." He replied smiling evilly.

 

"We- well, thank you sir."

 

"The reason I came over, is well since airline fares are so much these days and with Christmas around the corner.... Your family has agreed to let you stay with us for Christmas. Your two friends Lauren and Chen can stay too."

 

"Well....." Loreli began 

 

"Yeah that sounds wonderful sir, we'd love to." Cho cut in.

 

"And our names are Cho and Luna" Luna replied.

 

"Of course they are. And we have arranged for your things like your guitars, drums, and basses to be brought to the manor. I will send you an owl when the holidays roll around. You will come one day earlier than Draco. He will be very happy when I tell him. It's kind of a surprise. If you don't mind, even an early Christmas present." He said

 

"Umm....A Christmas present?"

 

"Well yes, with the way he talks about you, why not call it that?"

 

"I suppose that makes sense" She replied in a confused tone.

 

"Again, I am very pleased that you have agreed. Who knows?, Maybe this little experiment could lead to some new additions to the family. Well, I must be going, I have a meeting to attend at the Ministry of Magic"

 

"Thank you, sir."

 

"Oh, and by the way, call me Lucius" He said walking away. When he left, they were in an excited uproar.

 

"This is great!" Luna said excitedly

 

"Yeah, I've always wondered what the manor looked like on the inside. Hey, Loreli, what's wrong?" Cho asked.

 

"What did he mean by additions as in more than one?" Loreli wondered

 

"He meant if you two get married." Luna explained

 

"Well that explains part of it but, what about the s" Loreli said impatiently

 

"When you have children." Cho said teasingly

 

"IF we get married and IF we have children." Loreli corrected

 

"Why do you have any doubts on that?" Luna asked

 

"Hmm....let's think we're only seventeen, I'm not marrying that young, and How do you know he'll still be in love with me when we are ready?"

 

"You're seventeen until midnight on Christmas Eve. You turn eighteen then." Cho reminded her.

 

"What does that have to do with anything?" She countered

 

"That's the age that the Ministry says you can legally marry." Luna informed her.

 

Three weeks later, Christmas was around the corner and they had received the owl that Mr. Malfoy had promised. They were in the dorm packing their suitcases. Finally, it was time to go, they walked down to the platform and waited for the train. When it got there, they all boarded anxiously.

 

I'm two hours away from the thing that could reveal to me who I'm with the rest of my life.

 

When the train arrived at the Kings Cross Station, the three of them were asleep Cho had her head up against the window with a pillow Luna had another pillow on Cho's shoulder and likewise with Loreli. Lucius was standing on the platform with who she assumed was his wife.

 

"Wake up ladies, you're at the station. How was the trip?" He asked them.

 

"Huh?" Cho said rubbing her eyes.

 

"Luna, wake up we're here." Loreli said hitting her lightly with a pillow.

 

"Hi everybody, I hope it wasn't too hard to wake me up this time."

 

"No, it wasn't" Cho said 

 

"Only took us fifteen minutes." Loreli said in a teasing tone

 

"It did not!" Lucius replied mockingly.

 

"Oh, Mr. Malfoy she knows we're only teasing." Cho replied.

 

"Well now, why don't we get back to the manor, the cook is ill and we were just going to order Chinese food. Is that alright?" Narcissa asked.

 

"Alright? We haven't had it in a year, order a lot!" Luna said as though Narcissa had read her mind.

 

After about an hour, it had started to snow hard. They were well fed and had begun decorating the tree. All of a sudden, just as Loreli was putting the last bulb on the tree, they heard the door close,

 

"Sorry I didn't give any notice, father. Dumbledore said that this was the last train until the 22nd. I smell Chinese food. Are you holding out in me?" Said a joking voice that unmistakably was Draco's.

 

"And who's laughing? It sounds like a girl." He wanted to know.

 

"Why don't you go into the living room and see who's here for the holidays?" Narcissa said.

 

"Okay, it had better be someone that I like." He replied.

 

"Hi, Draco." Loreli said said spreading out her arms and embracing him.

 

"Hey, how are you?" He said in an equally nervous tone.

 

"Oh, I'm good. It's so great to see you." She whispered.

 

"Why don't I show you three where your rooms are." He said putting his arm around her. She put her head on his shoulder and they walked up the stairs.

 

"Well here they are." He said to Luna and Cho.

 

"Wow, they're beautiful." Luna and Cho said together.

 

"Good night you two." Loreli said to her two best friends.

 

After they had left, he turned to her and said,

 

"Now come with me. I think you'll like your room. It's right next to mine." He replied affectionately

 

He led her to a room at the end of the hall on the third floor, it had a canopy bed with deep red bedding with black lace trim and matching curtains. The balcony overlooked the garden, with was gleaming with pure white snow.

 

"It's wonderful, I don't know what else to say." She breathed

 

"Well then, we'll just leave it at that. But before I go, I'd like a good night kiss." He said wryly.  He embraced her and kissed her. Afterwards, she felt dizzy, when she got her breath back he smiled and said,

 

"I've wanted to do that for the longest time, seven years, I think." He said, and started to walk away when he turned around and said,

 

"Oh, and I love you and it's wonderful to have you here." He said and closed the door to his room.

 

She did the same and got ready for bed. She was out cold as soon as she hit the pillow. After three more days of waiting until Christmas and her birthday, it finally came, Christmas Eve.

 

"Ladies, we forgot to tell you the tradition at our house. Every year at midnight on Christmas Eve, that is when we put the star on the tree. But as I understand, we also have a birthday this year." Lucius announced.

 

It was about 11:55 and Draco had briefly left the room to get something that he declared as very important. When he returned, he held a small gift bag, Loreli longed to know what was in it.

 

"Five, four, three, two, one," Cho counted down 

 

"Merry Christmas and happy birthday, Loreli!" Everyone shouted.

 

"Draco, Loreli, would you two do the honours of putting the star on the tree?" Narcissa asked.

 

"Sure" They both said together.

 

After putting it on, Draco took the gift bag and pulled out a black velvet box. He handed it to her, she opened it and found a silver diamond ring,

 

"Will you marry me Loreli Angelstar?" he said getting down on one knee.

 

"Yes, I will" she replied quietly. he put the ring on her and kissed her tenderly. Then everyone clapped and in walked Loreli's parents. Narcissa and Lucius walked up to them, they embraced her and Narcissa whispered,

 

"Welcome to the family, dear."
