The Land of Mystics Chronicles:
~~~~This is the
only rescued page from the past HUGE website that I could find. It is quite
old, but since I lost all of my work since its creation, it actually fits in
perfectly! Give it a look.
~~~~The Land of
Mystics Chronicles Project was originally developed in 1996 when I first
listened to Joy Electric after reading C. S. Lewis' "The
Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe". Lewis' fantasy world of knights and
talking animals, mixed with Joy Electric's "candy-coated splendor",
came together in the completion of "The Cobbler" in 2000. Since then I have been hard at work
bringing the entire six chronicles together by making more and more references
from "The Cobbler" to the next two of the six books;
"The Candy Star" and "The Shades of Mystics". The entire
process is painstaking due to the almost constant repair of logic errors within
the overall timeline. As each story is added to, the others must be looked over
to ensure accuracy over the years, all of this work consuming large blocks of
time. ** (Microsoft Word 97 or above suggested for link opening) **
~~~~By the
Thanksgiving of 2000 I was looking for an escape from the typing of "The Cobbler" and with that came the first thoughts
of a second chronicle, "The Darkness of Gandor". This title, however,
never came together and so I went in another direction. It wasn't until Christmas
Eve that I had my next idea, "The Candy Star". With this second
book came the entire Land of Mystics Chronicles concept. In "The
Candy Star", The Land of Mystics is changed from its
beautiful utopian world into a frozen wasteland. Through the chaos, however,
there were those who survived to continue the story. This new project lasted
until June of 2001. It was then that I did the "dating" thing and
abandoned my project.
~~~~With a broken
heart and lots of free time again, I buried my sadness within my old and now
new best friend, my project. By then it was December again, this time in 2002.
Again, like the year before, Christmas Eve was my time of enlightenment. It was
late that night, probably more morning than night. The Christmas tree was
shining beautifully and I had a great view of it from my open door. Within the
cold my fingers finally retired from the keyboard due to lack of flexibility.
With that wonderful view of the glowing tree I came to the remembrance of spring
and the "calm after the storm" and so I knew the next book would need
to be the story of just that; the restoration of The Land of Mystics. "The Shades of Mystics" refers to the unity
of the new Land of Mystics after The Cobbler completes his work. It also
refers to the diversification of the beings that live within The Land of Mystics,
sort of like shades of skin on Earth. We are all human and yet we are all
different. Same idea here.
