What Is Slash?

Slash, also called yaoi (gay couples), shounen ai (literally "boy kiss" - like toned-down yaoi), or yuri (lesbian couples), is a homosexual relationship in a fic. Yes, this means a male/male or female/female relationship.

This really squicks some people, but I see no reason why it should. Personally, I don't believe that homosexuality is evil. Also, one of the most common misconceptions is that all slash is smut. This is not true! There are plenty of non-smut slash stories...in fact, most of my slash fics are PG-13 or below, as are many other authors'.

So, if you still feel squicked, you'd best leave here; but, if you're willing to give slash a chance, good for you for being open-minded! After all, one of the themes of Harry Potter is the tolerance and acceptance of those different from us.
