INTRODUCTION

Okay, I don't claim to have invented the concept or general idea of
Pitfall, it comes from some old text based game I had off a set of
shareware disks my dad threw out a while ago. Nevertheless, I did create
the new engine, the graphics, etc... so it's a good game, and I lost
the disk, and I wanted to play it again, sue me.

STARTING THE GAME

There's two executables in the Pitfall directory:

Pitfall.exe - This is the one to try first. Play the game. Email me and
tell me it's too fast or too slow or whatever.

Brun45.exe - Please ignore this file. I haven't yet bothered to compile
the game files as stand-alones, since earlier versions
performed better when done this way.

So pick one and run it. If it doesn't work, mail me with the error and
what your computer specs were.

PLAYING THE GAME

Some people I've found in alpha are naturals at this, and others take
a long time to grasp the controls. Start with left and right. They move
your ship (the dot) back and forth. Up slows your shifting if you want
to aim for a bonus or whatever. Down gives you a crosshair which also
aids in aiming for shields and coins.

EXCUSES

There's no sound. Sue me. I can't get it working yet, and I'm too lazy
to sift through 500 MBs of half second sound clips for appropriate
things.

TECHY STUFF
I used quickBASIC 4.5 and Angelo Mottola's DQB library for this. It
mainly to learn the basics of how the lib worked for future reference, in
the hopes that I could make an action-rpg someday. I've since written my
own library in Turbo Pascal, and plan to use that instead.

LEGEL BS

Microsoft and QuickBasic and 4.5 and whatever else are trademarks of
whoever owns 'em. I don't care and neither do they.
