Chapter Two - The Guest Outside the Store

Ally swung her leg with fierceness and made contact with the side of the boy's head. He cried out and collapsed to the mat. That was how her day started. Ally was at her Kai-tsu lessons where she was sparring with other students. She had been matched up with a boy practically twice her size that had thick arms and, Ally thought, a thick head.

Her mother had been sending Ally to Kai-tsu lessons since she was four-years-old. Not surprisingly, Ally was the best student in her class, even though she was a bit short and petite. Somehow she could always take down the tallest and buffest student without breaking a sweat, and that's not even the uncanny part about it. Ally was known for being interestingly athletic. She could jump six feet in the air, kick her opponent, and somehow stay suspended there for a few moments. also, she was the only one to ever climb the rope that reaches the ceiling in gym at school in less than ten seconds.

As the day went on, Ally went to the mall with her friend, Kelly, to shop for clothes in American Eagle Outfitters.

"How does this look?" asked Kelly as she held a tanktop to her chest. "It's a bit short, though."

Like that's ever bothered you, Ally thought to herself. Kelly wasn't her best friend in the world. Ally envied Kelly's popularity and how attractive she was. It bothered Ally as boys' eyes peered at Kelly in the halls at school, and how Ally just seemed to be in the way to them.

As this was going through Ally's head, a boy from school happened to be shopping nearby and spotted Kelly. Ally knew from first sight that this boy wasn't actually shopping here. He was labeled as a stoner and obviously didn't wear AE. He was just here to see Kelly.

"Hey Kelly," he said. He strutted over to Kelly with an obnoxious smile and put his arm on her shoulders. kelly just smiled sweetly like she liked it, but Ally knew better. Under Kelly's designer lipgloss and Abercrombie pants was a smothered little girl that didn't want to deal with boys at all. Ally could read her like a book.

As Kelly and the boy talked (and flirted), Ally lost interest. She went and looked at the different capris. As she was checking the price on a pair, she heard a strange sound. It was like the sound of.. a bird? But not the common song-type sound. It was more of cry.

Ally looked around to see if anyone else had noticed, but no one had seemed to. She peered around the store to see what it was and then she spotted it. An enormous grey vulture was perched on a rack of men's sweaters, glaring down at her with ferociousness.
