Cry Me a River Cook -
In response to article "Columnist Ron Cook: Frustrated Penguins  will be haunted by 'if only' "    (click to read)

Cry me a river Cook. I am sick and tired of always reading about your woes as a Sports City. If it is not this it's that. When are you people gonna grow up out there? I am from Charlestown - Chester Co. Pennsylvania, small community about 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia. I grew up here all my life and ventured out to Pittsburgh on a Soccer scholarship to the Univ. of Pittsburgh. This was in 1994. I had nothing against Pittsburgh and was absolutely thrilled to be a part of the city. I cheered the Pens when they won two cups. I rooted for the Stiller's. However, after living there a year, things changed. You people have something against Philadelphian's andhate our sports teams. I don't know why? I think I have a good idea though. While you guys think we are your biggest rivalry we have bigger things to worry about, the Rangers
and the Devils are our rivalries.

Herb Brooks - dejectedAnyhow, for 4 years I have had to read the garbage you people put out there with the Gazette and Tribune Review not to mention your lousy radio stations that run off at the mouth how bad the Flyers are. It is embarrassing Ron. You people are stuck in a time warp out there surrounded by mountains never to escape. You have this notion that Pittsburgh is the hub of the country and everywhere else on earth is not nearly as great at Pittsburgh. Well if you people would ever get out of your tin shanty's, maybe you would find out that there is more to life then Steel, black lungs, scurvy backs, and Iron City Beer.

Before I digress any further and rip your second rate city apart anymore let me just say this. The University of Pittsburgh was a beautiful place and a most heart warming experience for me. I loved every minute of it and had a good 4 years living in your "town" of Pittsburgh. My newest feelings have just been born though and have spoiled an otherwise good time for me. And it is basically your (the media, and sports fans) that have made me so sour. Let me tell you how the series really went. Pittsburgh came into our building and shocked the world and even themselves. Ron, every dog has its day. I will give you that. Your cheap imitation of a goalie stood on his head while shoving more and more rabbit's feet down his pants. "Light under the loafers" Jagr played well. We had to adjust. First we made you pay with a clenched fist only further solidifying the notion that we are tougher and we will not go quietly. Then we came to your assemblance of a so called hockey arena. We took two from you with disciplined hockey that flowed with heart and emotion. The stronger team survived.

This after your whole city was talking trash. When are you going to learn Ron, that that kind of talk gets you nowhere. So your team of European trash showed their true self in game 5 when we embarrassed you on National Television. Heartless Jagr said it wasn't worth playing after being down several goals. What a selfish little girl. Barnaby got thrown out to avoid the embarrassment. How sad. And then Cook, we come into your shanty and you try and rock our world with a late hit on Preems. That's fine. We forged on and swept you away like yesterday's news. And now finally when I have a minute to check what you have to say, I am expecting some respect. I expecting what a reporter would write, non-bias. Instead what I receive is another river to go along with the other three. It is quite sad Ron. An old man like you acting like a child. How much clearer must it become that you are a reporter in a dump of a town and you try and rally around your team that almost claimed bankruptcy whose hero isn't quite sure what way he swings. You gave up your #1 goalie because you are poor. Your fans are a conglomeration of uneducated, deprived, losers. You are simply jealous of Philadelphia's heart, true toughness, our money, our building, our American/Canadian players, everything. Keep telling yourself differently but the truth still remains, you will wake up tomorrow in your what mine as well be a midwestern city with hockey club that overachieves and will never challenge for a title with all those cheap Euro-trash hockey players. I on the other hand will continue to forward your garbage onto other Philadelphian's to make them happy that they don't have to read that crap every morning. We also have a big series coming up, The Eastern Conference Championship, something you wouldn't know about.

So go now Ron, go tell your other mates who seemingly can't get enough of downplaying our franchise. Go cry me a River.
