Quidditch Rules
Quidditch Rules
Who can play?
Any member of this site can play quidditch as long as they have the required items.(you need a password to enter
the message board). There can only be 7 players on each house team, there are no positions so getting on the team is based mostly on first come first serve, but if you want to tryout with the worst broom possible you might not make it. The items required to play Quidditch are 1) A broom (firebolt deluxe being the fastest) 2)Full quidditch equiptment (all gear shin guards, quidditch gloves etc..) 3) you must have all the quidditch books that are sold in diagon alley. 4) You must be an active member, if you arent doing good on homework you are in-eleigible to play. Thats about it.
Basic Rules
First enter the message board (hosted by Boards2go) with the name and password you will recieve if you apply for quidditch. You can begin playing straight away because
there are no set times to play. This is because the match starts at the beginning of term and finishes in the
last week of term when the Golden Snitch is found (see below).
There will be EIGHT 'discussions' (or threads) in the "Quidditch Match" folder (reply-only).
- "Gryffindor Quaffles"
- "Gryffindor Bludgers"
- "Ravenclaw Quaffles"
- "Ravenclaw Bludgers"
- "Hufflepuff Quaffles"
- "Hufflepuff Bludgers"
- "Slytherin Quaffles"
- "Slytherin Bludgers"
If you reply to a 'Quaffle' message, you earn one point for that Hogwarts house.
If you reply to a 'Bludger' message, you lose one point for that Hogwarts house.
The idea is to post in your Hogwarts house's Quaffle discussion as much as possible and also post in the
other Hogwarts houses' Bludger discussions.
Please note that the content of the posts is irrelevent, as long as they aren't rude
or offensive. Also, if anyone deletes posts, this makes no difference to the points.
If you wish to chat to other members you can in the "Unofficial Quidditch Chat" folder.
The results of the Quidditch match will be posted in the "Quidditch Match Announcement" read-only folder.
Calculating Current Standings of Points
To find out the current standings for a Hogwarts House:
take the number of posts in their Quaffle message and subtract
the number of messages in their Bludger message. Compare all four totals to find out which team is ahead.
Ending the Match
The match ends in the last week of term. A "Golden Snitch" discussion will be posted in the "Quidditch Match" folder.
This signals the 'release' of the snitch. The snitch (pictured below) will be placed on one of the pages on
The Marauder's Map Hogwarts site.
If you find the right page, reply to the "Golden Snitch" post stating:
- your name
- your Hogwarts house
- the URL (web address) of the page with the Golden Snitch (www.angelfire.com/wizard/harrypotterpg/broom.html does NOT count)
