Sirius glared back at him "I have *never* had to force myself on Cat, if that’s what you’re referring to" he answered icily "she has always been *more* than willing to share herself with me."
"Is that why her door was charmed last night? Because she was so *willing* as you put it?" Snape shot back as he reached for his wand.
"Charmed you say? Well why didn’t you just remove it then.." Black smirked "or was her magic too much for you?"
"You do not expect me to believe that SHE charmed her own door." Snape responded menacingly "Why would she do that, pray tell?"
Black smiled evilly at the potion master "Why to keep you out, of course. She didn’t want you bursting in and ruining the mood." Sirius gave a satisfied grin as he saw the pain flash in Snape’s eyes "Surely you know what a passionate creature she is once the mood strikes her, don’t you?" Unfortunately Sirius never saw the punch that hit him and sent him sprawling across the floor.
"How dare you, you filthy piece of muggle-loving trash. If you so much as dared to lay a hand on her..." Snape bellowed as he approached Black
Black wiped the blood from his mouth as he stood up "Oh I did more than lay my hands on her, I assure you." he sneered as he tasted his own blood "not that she seemed to mind. In fact she seemed rather relieve to have someone who knew what they were doing.." he ducked as Snape swung at him again. Sensing an opening, Sirius forcefully punched Snape in the stomach "What’s wrong Snapey... Afraid of a little competition?"
Severus glared at him "Competition...... you? The man who betrayed her for a common piece of gutter trash. You are not fit to breath the same air as Catri." he shouted angrily "you got what you wanted and then threw her away." his voice became frighteningly quite "You tossed aside a Lady and took a whore in her place."
Sirius’s eyes glinted with pain and anger "I never threw her away you lying traitor, I love her more than you can ever hope to. The only reason she ever even went out with you is because she pitied you" he snarled as his temper flared.
Remus and Harry walked up just in time to see Sirius run and tackled Snape to the floor, they stood there in awe as the watched the two wizards pummelling each other viciously. Remus and Harry pulled out their wands and in unison chanted. "Petrificus totalis" as they watched Severus and Sirius’s bodies become stiff and fall onto the floor.
"Do I even *need* to ask what this was about?" Remus asked tersely. "Honestly you’re both grown men, and she’s a grown woman, she can make her own choices. She doesn’t need anyone fighting to decide.
Just as the words left Remus’s lips they watched as Cat ran out of Albus’s office and dashed past them...... only to dash back and skid to a halt, eyes wide and staring at the figures of Severus and Sirius who were still body bound and being levitated by Remus and Harry.
"Should I even ask?" Cat sighed, she closed her eyes and shook her head as she noticed the blood and bruises on them
"Uhm.... NO" Remus replied, making sure Severus’s mouth was bound firmly, the last thing he needed was for Snape to start talking. "On your way to class are you?" Remus asked pleasantly as if nothing at all were amiss.
"That was my plan" Cat replied flatly "Do you need my help Remus?" She asked as she turned her back to Sirius and Severus, pointedly ignoring both of them.
"No.. I think Harry and I can handle it... you know how these two can get." He grinned as he winked playfully at her.
Cat spun on her heels "Yes ... I do. And you should both be ashamed of yourselves.. What sort of example are you setting for the students... honestly I’m ashamed of you both" she shook her finger at them "Harry you’re going to be late for class" she reminded him as he grinned broadly at her behaviour, apparently she was feeling much better this morning.
"Yes Ma’am" he acknowledged "its your class. May I be excused from the beginning of class?" he asked politely as she turned to face him. He watched as she smiled brightly and rolled her eyes.
"May I assume it will be do to your assisting your Uncle Remus with these two?" She asked as she pointed her thumb over her shoulder.
Harry practically laughed right there "Yes Ma’am" he chuckled as he saw the look on her face.
Cat stuck out her tongue at him for snickering like that. "Harry... don’t ever play poker... you’ll never survive." she deadpanned as she looked at Remus. "So... you sure you have everything under control?"
"Yes Mother MacLeod, everything is fine, I *have* done this before you know. And with Harry helping me, I’m sure we will have no problems." Remus teased as he saw the look on Cat’s face.
"Alright, if you’re sure." Cat said hesitantly "Harry, as soon as this is settle, right to class, no fooling around in the halls, got that?" she asked, smiling broadly the whole time.
"Got it" Harry grinned back, he could tell by looking at her she found this all very funny. He had to admit she had a point, he had Sirius bound and levitating, bouncing gently in midair. Unfortunately Remus hadn’t been quite so careful with Snape, he too was bound and levitating... upside down, his cloak hanging over his head, a look of sheer evil glaring from what could be seen of his eyes.
Cat turned and gave them one last look "I don’t know Remus.... angry eyes, both of them" she noted as she quickly walked off towards her classroom.
As soon as Remus was sure Cat was well out of hearing, he signalled Harry and they both released their spells. The moment they did, both Sirius and Severus began yelling at him.
Remus took a deep breath and yelled loudly "right now I don’t want to hear it from *either* of you." Luckily the shock of Remus’s normally soft spoken voice being raised to such a level was enough to quiet them both. Remus was spared any further outbursts when Albus appeared.
Clearing his throat he staring meaningfully at Snape and Black, shaking his head sadly he said "Gentlemen..... Follow me please. Harry, please return to your classes. Professor Lupin and I will handle this"
Severus was cursing under his breath as he left Dumbledore’s office, "What a marvellous day" he snarled "first I wake up with this accursed headache, then find my office destroyed, and then when I go to find Albus, I run into that murderous Black and his friends. Can the day possible get any better?"
"Do you really want an answer to that" a woman’s voice asked from out of the shadow. "Personally I think we need to thin out that lot, starting with Cash’s friend Sirius, he’s been nothing but trouble since the day he arrived here.
"I thought you were *on* the vampyres side" Severus replied as he stared at the Garou "Gaz.. is it not?"
She nodded "I *was* on their side, but that has changed recently. I don’t like what associating with them has done to my clan. They no longer obey, they have become wild and uncontrollable. And I fear MacLeod does not see this, she sees only good natured playfulness and wild spirits in their actions. She is too kind for the role she must play." Gaz sighed.
Severus nodded his head "True, she is far too charitable in many cases. But that is her nature, her heart is full of love and kindness...."
"Very admirable traits in a healer, but she has been called upon to fight." she paused as she watched the expression on the potion master’s face "They want her to be a warrior now, not a healer, but she doesn’t understand the discipline needed to control an army. And this man Sirius Black only seems to distract her from her duties." she smiled to herself as she saw the shadow pass over Snape’s face. "You on the other hand understand the discipline it takes to fulfil your duties."
Severus regarded her suspiciously "What exactly are you suggesting?"
"We need to make Sirius leave, one way or another. I overheard her talking to the fostered Gangrel... Lupin, you call him. He is going to take her to him tonight, we need to delay him."........
Remus was practically dancing down the hall, he couldn’t believe that *finally* after all of these weeks he was going to be able to get Sirius and Cat in the same room to talk about what had happened. He knew this was all it was going to take to mend the past, he had seen them both cry over each other, he had seen the love and passion in their eyes.
One look at Harry’s smiling face and Remus knew how happy he was, "This is going to be a wonderful night Harry" Remus grinned happily "the first of many."
"I know, I can’t wait" Harry replied "I just wish you would have told Sirius about this earlier, he was so upset after what Snape said to him. He thinks he’s lost her for good, don’t you think it was .... well, cruel not to tell him?"
"Knowing your godfather’s temper, not at all. I am willing to bet he would have hunted Snape down just to gloat over it, and you can imagine where that would have let us." Remus sighed, he loved Sirius dearly, but that man’s temper had gotten them both into a great deal of trouble.
Harry rolled his eyes, "He’s not *that* bad Remus,... and besides, Snape deserved it for saying those things. *MY* mother was a muggle, or at least her family was. He had no right..."
"Now Harry, calm down. That was the Slytherin in him talking, and before you start arguing, NO, I am not defending him. I just don’t think he can help himself." Remus explained "He’s been like that his whole life, miserable, moody, sarcastic.... he is just plain unhappy, always has been, probably always will be. That is why I would never allow her to marry Snape. I’d go to her father if I had to."
Just then they heard a soft whimper coming from the shadows. Remus knit his brow as he carefully walked towards the noise. "Hello? Who’s there?" he asked as he pulled out his wand.
A weak voice responded "Help.... they have Fang,.... I’m hurt, I can’t help him."
"Gaz?" Remus asked as his voice filled with concern "Gaz, what happened, who attacked you? Where is Fang?" he asked as he carefully wrapped his arms around her and helped her up. "Are you alright Gaz? Do you need to go to the hospital?" Remus’s soft hazel eyes were filled with worry as he gently wiped the blood from Gaz’s fur.
Gaz looked up at Remus with tear filled eyes "No.. We have to help Fang. He’s hurt, I’m afraid they may have killed him." She held tightly onto Remus as he helped her to her feet "Please, we have to help him,... he’s bleeding..." she pleaded as her tears began to fall.
"Its alright Gaz, we’re here." Harry assured her "Where is Fang? And who attacked you?" he asked as he moved to her side, helping Remus support her as she motioned toward the dungeons.
"We were patrolling the lower dungeons, we heard something..." her eyes glazed over slightly as if recalling a horrible memory "the next thing I knew I heard Fang screaming and blood all over us, I barely escaped..... If anything happened to him" she buried her face in Remus’s shoulder as she sobbed.
"Shhhh, don’t worry Gaz" Remus cooed as he stroked her fur, trying to comfort her as they made their way to the dungeon. "we’ll find him and take care of him. I promise." Remus never saw the wicked smile that crossed her face as she lead them deeper into the dungeons.
"He’s in here... this is were they attacked us" she said weakly as she allowed Remus and Harry to lean her against the door frame. "I don’t know if ...." she gasped and pointed to the corner, her hand trembling visibly.
Harry and Remus rushed to the far corner of the room where they found Fang lying unconscious and bleeding. Carefully turning Fang over, Remus gasped loudly at the sight of all the blood covering the young Garou. "Gaz!!! What happened to him?!" Remus asked as he took off his cloak and covered the injured Fang, while Harry did his best to rouse Fang from his comatose state.
"Pathetic" Gas said nastily "I knew you would do this, you and the boy, you’re both just like his mother." she practically spat "MacLeod would respond in the same foolish way. ‘Oh my poor, dear, friend .... Fang, sweetie... what happened to you’ I can hear her now." she mocked as she backed out of the doorway. "Of course what the silly girl doesn’t know is she has no friends, only people who want to use her for what she can offer them. Only someone as stupid as you and Fang could possibly think friendship could enter into it."
Gas narrowed her eyes as she slammed the door on the trio, laughing at them threw the small window in the door "Even her erstwhile lover is only after what pleasures she can offer him, and he doesn’t even realize it yet. How long do you think the professor can hold her interest... a week, maybe two... and then he will turn against her, just like everyone else will."
Remus dashed to the door, glaring at Gaz "How can you do this to her? She offered friendship to your clan. A chance to join with others and become powerful. A real chance for peace, she would have protected you." he said as his voice grew sadder and sadder with each sentence.
"I don’t need her protection, we were fine before she came along, and now what" she replied viciously "my own clan defies me, they would rather stay with her than return with me. She never risked her life for them, she never fought side by side, or hunted with them... *I* have been the one to suffer for my clan, and because of her, they deny me."
Remus narrowed his eyes as his voice became stony "I doubt that had anything to do with her. If your behavior tonight is any indication, you have no right to lead anyone. You are nothing more than a traitor to your own people Gaz, they will destroy you for this."
"They will do nothing. *He* was the only one who would dare to challenge me, without him they will follow me anywhere." she replied coldly.
"So you killed him to keep power?!" Harry vented as he tried to make sense of the horrific scene in front of him. Fang had always struck him as kind of invincible, he seemed so sure of himself, so strong, so proud. And now he was barely breathing and covered with blood, Harry was sure Fang wouldn’t survive the night. "How could you, I thought he was your friend?"
"Weren’t you listening, *little one*?" she mocked, using Raul and Mohrg’s term for Harry " No one has any friends, we all look out for number one. But considering your mother I can see how you wouldn’t understand that. *She* still hasn’t figured it out, but she will...."
"What is that supposed to mean" Remus asked as he fingered his wand. Gaz may be strong, but she was only one person, and he and Harry had their wands. Remus walked back to Harry as a plan formed in his mind. "How is he Harry?" Remus asked as he felt for Fang’s pulse.
"I don’t know" Harry shook his head "we need mum, I’m not a healer like she is." Harry looked back at Fang, he had to admit, Fang looked completely different like this. He seemed almost cuddly as he slept, if it weren’t for the blood he could actually be called cute. "What are we going to do Remus? Do you still have your wand?" Harry asked as he looked up to his friend for guidance.
