The Magic 'Science'

These are the wizards. They seek the knowledge, study the currents and flow, and learn to harnes and manipulate this flow. These mages are not born, they are made. Extensive study under a master is required. This patient study has it's advantages. These are the most powerful of the mages and most knowledgeable in the skill.

The Magic 'Art'

These are the sorcorors. These mages are born to the skill, often manifesting itself at a young age. Some have tried to learn the 'science', but since they naturaly manipulate the flow so easily they often find the details tedious and boring. These mages are formitable, quickly mastering the flow and manipulating it at a whim.

The Wild Magic (Pesant Magic)

Somewhere inbetween the art and the science lies many mages. A wide range of people, from the house wife and her 'charms' to the coven of dabblers, they are witches. These mages may have some born tallent or purley dabble in the science. They should not be dismissed, for they can be formidable or dangerous. Many have been lost to such folley - yes some master it in their own right - but often the power consumes them, and in doing so, twists the mind and body into some aberation. Pesant magic is often frowned upon, hence it is often done in seceret.

Ritual Magic

Traditional spells, refered to here as combat spells, are designed for a rapid and specific effect. Ritual magic is a new concept for spell casting (or in First World an ancient concept rediscovered). The difference from combat spells is that ritual magic abandons the concept of spells with a fixed effect. A mage will design a ritual with the end in mind and thus any spell effect can be acheived. The preparation time for a ritual spell to be preformed is much longer than that for combat spell, sometimes it may take years to complete a ritual. To cast a ritual spell the formula has to be designed or researched, proper materials have to be gathered, the ritual has to be prepared, then the casting of the ritual, and the sealing of the effect.
