How to get Members in your Neopets Guild
Okay, I will tell you the ultimate secrets in getting members:
1. Advertise where ever you legally can: this means post about your guild on your userlookup, all your pet pages, and take out a notice board ad...make sure you mention your guilds name, have a link to it, a picture to give an idea of what it is about, and of course list any incentives you are willing to give out like newbie packs and what are in them like omelettes to codestones, whatever you think you are able to afford right now. Plus you can always send them to the Neopets Freebie site to get them 2K and a food for each pet.
2. Work on your guild homepage some more. Take a look at some of the top guilds to get an idea of what interests a lot of people to join them. Usually they have an easy to read and look at color scheme for their guild, yours may be a little on the bold, bright, and extreme side--you can use bright colors, but mix them with some subtle colors as well, so that your future long playing neopet members wont go blind :)
Also, your homepage could use some more pictures and/or links. Plus information of what your guild focus is: like, is it a battle guild; a hint and tips guild for money, games, shopping, or collecting; is it a contest driven guild--beware of these, usually they cost more neopoints and time than they are worth--but they are easier to get members to donate more np to. I know you have sort of done this, but you need to make it bigger, bolder, and short to the point--most neopets players are caught by flash, yes even good ones fall into that trap as well :)
3. Give your homepage some space, in order to space between words, phrases, or even pictures you have to use the html code all together with no space between the letters and the outside symbols: < br >
1 use of the above code with make your stuff go down to the beginning of the next line, to get an actual space just type it 2 times side by side, like this-with no spaces: < br > < br >
4. This is the most important one of all, invite people to go look at your guild. Also, you should know that low rank guild members are not able to invite people to their guild using the guild invite button; this has changed in that you can now decide if only a few higher rank members can invite or everyone can.
You will have the most success in just inviting people with newbie neopet players...most feel honored to be invited or noticed. You keep them by actually neomailing them, complimenting something about them-like shop or lookup, and be willing to gush about your guild. Newbies are more willing to join new guilds if you point out that the smaller the guild the better chance they have at winning the contests :)
Once you have at least 10 members, then longer playing neopians will be more likely to join--they never want to feel they are the sole support of a guild, they usually dont want to waste time or np in a guild that is going to disappear in a short time period--so as your guild gets older they are more likely to believe you will last, and majorly important is that you have plenty of messages posted on your guild board--no one wants to join a silent guild, that usually screams nonactive guild--so even if you and your friends have to sit there and spout off about just opinions of games, it is better than nothing. So try to post everyday you are online, so even members will see you are very active :)
5. How to find people to invite: look at the trades area, just look for cheap junk items to find newbie to middle range players, and very high and rare items to find older-longer-playing players. Look at the random lookups of people from their shops after using the shop wizard, this way you can honestly find people you like their shop and compliment it. Plus with the wiz, to find newer players search for cheaper stuff, and of course, for older players search for more expensive stuff.
