Molasses Cookies

1 3/4 cup molasses
2 cups light brown sugar
1 1/2 cups lard
5 tsp. baking soda
2 cups buttermilk
7 cups flour (unsifted)
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream sugar and lard thoroughly.
Add molasses.
Mix soda with buttermilk and add to sugar mixture alternating with flour and salt.
Store in a covered bowl overnight in the refrigerator.
In the morning, drop from a tablespoon onto a cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
Flatten slightly and brush with beaten egg yolks.
Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees.
