~Why do people hate the silence, or pauses in the sentence? Why can we not bear to be alone for long periods of time if we can hold a complete reality in our mind? Rolo May's theory is that by fearing silence, we are fearing the eternal silence that is death. Written before the age where people "looked for themselves" his ideas dug up the notion that we are as a people internally empty, and striving to find something to fill that hole.
